25.01.2022 What an object lesson on how a primary school choir can and should sound like. Penguin District School led by Christine Lusted at the Penguin Christmas Carols. Harmony, Dynamics, Rhythm, Clarity of Diction.....and the kids really seemed to be loving it. Well done!

23.01.2022 All Pianolas are player pianos but not all player pianos are Pianolas. These self-playing pianos are an heirloom mostly from between the wars so 1919 to 1939. Player pianos are often referred to as Pianolas but that is just one trademark of the type. During the 1920s, more than half of all pianos made in America contained a player unit. We can help you restore these classic instruments. (Photo CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=729892)

14.01.2022 There's nothing remarkable about it. All one has to do is hit the right keys at the right time and the instrument plays itself. -- Johann Sebastian Bach

14.01.2022 The world lost a very special composer today and this beautifully played cello piece reminds us of his brilliance.

11.01.2022 This caught my attention. Clever bit if arranging played quite well.

11.01.2022 Is music not a diverse world of surprises?

10.01.2022 You listen to beautiful music with your ears, so why tune with an electronic device? I use a concert A 440hz pitch fork initially and then set the temperament around this using the intervals, mainly fourths, fifths and octaves to tune and thirds, sixths, tenths, double and triple octaves to check. Electronic tuners are a distraction from the fine aural concentration required to do the job properly, slowing down and compromising the process.

04.01.2022 Well, How to de-motivate half a dozen keen UTAS recruits. Dont Turn Up. Pia took it upon herself to travel to Launceston to meet up with staff and review the facilities at UTAS in Launceston. Her 8 friends have targeted Deakin as the peak institute for their Physical Education Degree but thought they would give the poorly rated local institution a chance to sell themselves. No Show was the result. Having been promised Immogen and Victoria to show them around, neither were on campus. Is this our future in Tasmania?

04.01.2022 Watch this precious Australian BEALE piano - for three generations in the Rigbys family & the piano tuner - the endangerd species in action. Dont miss the archival KODAK silent footage from 1939. And the piano jam session!

02.01.2022 Wishing you all a Prosperous New Year, Love from Josef, Pia, Iris and Robert. :-)

01.01.2022 I wholeheartedly recommend the concept that local business people can be a huge help by mentoring younger business people on an ongoing one on one basis. This is a mutually enriching process and hugely valuable.
