25.01.2022 One of Robina Lions Club’s great projects is recycling bread tags. These bread tags are made into bowls which are sold and then wheelchairs are purchased from the proceeds. Lion Jill is in charge of this project and it is amazing how many our Club has collected. Lions are helping the environment by recycling and our Club is very passionate about this project. We recycle cans, bottles, bottle lids, pens biros, mascara wands (to Animal Welfare) stamps and recycling eyeglasses. #lionsrecycling #caringfor environment #eyeglasses #stamps

22.01.2022 Hi Guys - wondering if you could all help us by copying and pasting this post into any mum/community groups that you are apart of, including school/kindy chats.... The more people that know about #buckleupbaby the more car seats we will collect. Thank you Do you have a car seat you no longer need or is your child about ready to move up to the next size. Baby Give Back is on mission this September to collect 300 car seats to re home to families living in crisis. Your donation will provide the gift of safe travel for a child/baby. You can purchase a new car seat from Kmart for $120 so maybe ask 11 friends to chip in $10 and together gift a new car seat to a baby due to be born? Please share this within your community and help us reach our goals.

22.01.2022 One of my more pleasant duties whilst on Kangaroo Island was representing DG Norm in presenting two thermal imaging cameras to the CFS Chief on KI, Terry May. ... These cameras are two of the thirteen purchased on behalf of the district with the part funding coming from $15,000 from the Lucindale Club and a huge thanks to Lion Peter Corrigan and the Barker trailer company. The remaining $15,000 came from a Lions ALF grant submitted by me on behalf of the District. These cameras are capable of identifying 'hot spots' in bushfire situations aiding firefighters to better combat fires. DG Norm will be distributing the remaining units to both our Zone and the Adelaide Hills areas in the near future. See more

16.01.2022 Uniting Lions to Improve Sight and Prevent Blindness Since 1988, Lions World Sight Day has raised awareness about the importance of eye health and the need for ...quality eye care services for all. On this special day of service, Lions clubs around the world conduct sight-related projects including: vision screenings, eyeglass donations, restorative surgeries, eye health education programs, and the donation of assistive devices to those with vision impairment. Lions World Sight Day (8th October) is traditionally held in the month of October. This year, Lions are encouraged to organize their Lions World Sight Day activities in conjunction with the Lions World Wide Week of Service in Sight. #201Q1 #Q1Lions #AnotherLionsProject #201Q1MonthlyProjects #LionVisionProjects #VisionMonth #Vision #WorldSightDay

16.01.2022 Your Drought and Fire Donations at Work. As our response to the latest drought and last summers fires is winding down and we're getting ready for whatever this... summer may bring, it's time to take stock of what has been achieved, all managed by a group of dedicated volunteers. The map below, which was prepared as part of a report to our Lions District 201 V3 Convention, shows our response to requests for assistance in just the last 12 months. In total, our response to the drought since January 2018 has seen well over 1300 truckloads of fodder worth around 12 million dollars delivered to farmers totally free of charge into all of the eastern states including Tasmania and South Australia. That is on top of more than 700 truckloads with a value of at least $6.5 million for those affected by last summer’s horrific fires. These deliveries are usually accompanied by household hampers, personal care packs, Lions teddies and toys for the kids, and food for our best mates. Every farm has at least one dog! Now about to begin our 15th. Year, we at Need for Feed take great pride not only in being managed 100% by volunteers but also this year being adopted as a national Project of Lions Australia You will see from the map that we have been able to meet approximately 85% of our requests for assistance over the last 12 months. Our aim now being a National Project, is to partner with other Lions Club and Districts to build capacity in order to better meet the needs of all the communities we wish to serve. Our group of 6 Lions members on our committee are involved on pretty much a daily basis. With nearly 200 different truck drivers taking part in 18 Hay runs over the year, a core group of 15 have completed just about every run.

15.01.2022 What a great idea. Helping Need for Feed a lions project who in turn help some many others who are doing it tough. #needforfeed #hayrun #lions

10.01.2022 Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation has announced it will provide $1.05 million of funding to the Telethon Kids Institute. The funding will su...pport the Telethon Kids Cancer Centre’s vital research aimed at improving survival rates, longevity and quality of life for children with cancer. At Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation we believe every child deserves a chance at a healthy life, Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation Chairperson John Thorpe said. We are very proud to be providing $1.05 million worth of funding to Telethon Kids. Chair of the Telethon Kids Institute, the Hon. Julie Bishop, said they are excited to be partnering with such a well-respected, community-oriented organisation like Lions Australia. We are so grateful for Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation’s support, Ms Bishop said. This $1.05 million in funding will enable the Telethon Kids Cancer Centre to continue its leading research into childhood cancer particularly in the area of cancer immunotherapy, which focuses on supercharging the body’s natural defences to destroy cancer cells. Mr Thorpe described cancer immunotherapy as one of the most exciting and promising cancer treatments being developed, particularly for childhood cancer. It is our hope that this work will benefit kids all over Australia and beyond, he said. More than 800 children aged 0-14 years are diagnosed with cancer in Australia each year. Many of these cancers are aggressive and hard to treat and we are losing too many young lives. https://www.telethonkids.org.au//childhood-cancer-researc/ #201Q1 #Q1Lions #AnotherLionsProject #201Q1MonthlyProjects # ALCCRF #AustralianLionsChildhoodCancerResearchFoundation
