15.01.2022 A question we often get asked - how much is botox? This is why it’s not a direct question to answer: It’s different for every patient, and a professional should tailor an optimal dose for each patient that takes into account how long you want it to last for and individual anatomy. The classic forehead dose for botox is 22.5 units at $12 per unit ($270, but some clinics are now charging up to $17 per unit). Dysport is cheaper, has effects faster, but doesn’t last as long. A r...ule of thumb is that you need 3x the units for dysport but it’s half price ($6 per unit). A lot of injectors will advertise $200 for forehead - but underdose you. This is why dysport sometimes gets a bad name. It’s not that the product doesn’t work, it’s just that (un)professional injectors are doing it too cheaply. Very similar principles apply to fillers. The best thing to do is have a facial assessment with one of our doctors, they’ll give you some options based on what’s most important to you. See more

15.01.2022 What's the deal with skin peels? Below is a photo of the precipitate that results from a TCA peel. Skin peels have a VERY high satisfaction rate, but can make some conditions worse. Solution? Book in with someone that knows what they're doing!

14.01.2022 Have you ever had a facial injection? Many patients dread facial operations due to the discomfort of the anaesthetic injection. However, experienced surgeons can drastically reduce the volume of numbing agent and avoid uncomfortable injecting locations by blocking the nerve further upstream. Ask your doctor about a nerve block especially if you require a larger procedure.

07.01.2022 Did you know that lentiginous change is the term for freckles caused by sun damage from many years ago? Most patients find that sun damage becomes more visible around age 50-60. Most melanoma arises from badly sun damaged skin with the average age of onset in Australia being around 67 years. Once you have had a competent professional exclude skin cancer, there may be options for reducing the freckled appearance.
