25.01.2022 A close up of the pedals "in the loop"

25.01.2022 The Robinsonics display at Mona Vale Music. Call them on (02) 9986 0589 if you would like a pedal or any other musical item, they are great Fender dealers. Thanks to JJ Glam for the display.

25.01.2022 The Colorsound Fuzz Wah re-wired, repaired and modded ready for another 40 years.

24.01.2022 Great night tonight with Wilco. We managed a meet and greet with Nels Cline. A lovely guy with a lot of great stories who also happens to be an incredible guitar player. Great pics to follow.

24.01.2022 All pedals are screwed to the Diago pedal board using links. I have made the cables to custom lengths using George L cable. The noise gate on the left uses an effects loop and I have utilised this for the Limiter, EQ and chorus. The bass plugs into the tuner first. Dont laugh at these non "boutique" Boss pedals. They sound great, are reliable and dont depend on well regulated power supplies to be quiet. This pedal board should be reliable for many years to come. All of these products are available at Mona Vale Music. If you need anything call them on 9986 0589.

23.01.2022 Here is a shot of our meeting with Nels Cline at Tuesdays Wilco show. Nels is showing me the recent re-fret on his legendary Jazzmaster.

23.01.2022 Having the boost pedal before the overdrive boost the gain into the overdrive, creating extra drive for a thicker tone. This give the effect of a 2 stage drive. This boost is still effective in pushing clean tones when required. Having the volume control last in the chain enables overall stage volume to be adjusted without changing the gain into the drive and boost pedals. The volume pedal is located toward the right of the board to enable right foot operation.

22.01.2022 Check out this old Coloursound fuzz wah that came in for restoration today. This one was made in 1974 and has a 2 transistor fuzz circuit.

21.01.2022 A new Robinsonics board. Pedal train and T-Rex Chameleon PSU for this one. The order is: Boss tuner, mini Wah, boost, Archer (Klon clone), Tube Screamer, Phase 90, Qtron, EVH flanger and finally MXR delay. The Qtron uses a voltage doubler from the 12v outputs for 24v supply. The Delay and Flanger are on 18v. 9v for all other pedals. Great funk board. The Qtron is an amazing pedal.

21.01.2022 Another Robinsonics board. A similar theme to the other "strips" on earlier posts. The pedal order is : tuner, boost, two Sparkle drives, chorus, delay and reverb. The TC Electronics delay is a common theme amongst these strip boards. All powered by a One Spot 1.8 amp supply. The aluminium and ply board is bespoke, and the leads all custom made utilising George L and thin right angled plugs. Stay tuned for more boards and the new additions to the range of Robinsonics pedals.

20.01.2022 The big board that I built for a client last year has come back in for an overhaul. The Trem and Chorus pedals have been replaced by a Strymon Mbius and the Strymon Blue Sky reverb has been replaced by a Big Sky. The 3 Strymon pedals are linked via midi for patch changes utilising the Midi thru function available on each pedal. The Whammy pedal is also controlled via Midi. All these pedals are driven by the Crocodile controller. It took a bit of reshuffling to make it all fit on the board, so not as neat as Robinsonics would like! Its now unbelievably versatile as well as very quiet and even easier to program/use.

19.01.2022 Here is a pedal board I put together for a bass playing customer today.

19.01.2022 This weeks board. I put this together for an overseas student who brought a few pedals with them. It was decided to use the existing pedals and board and make them more reliable. I made a new removable insert for the CNB pedal case. This is carpeted with steel handles. I then screwed all the pedals to the board.

18.01.2022 A clean up of a customers board. Only one new George L lead, but the Diago case has new carpet and two raised sections to allow easy foot access to the rear pedals, and access to the input and output jacks (something that the lip around this case makes impossible in stock form). The order is: Tuner, compressor, Wah, RC boost, Tube screamer, BB boost, Sparkle Drive, Volume pedal, TC delay and chorus. Daisy chained 9volt supply. Using stock cables saves money but compromises spacing and length. This one worked out well.

16.01.2022 Here is the custom switcher to allow switching between two amps (AB A+B box).

15.01.2022 And a pic of them together. I made the base plate for MXR / Strymon board from scratch. Its a fraction bigger in both dimensions than the Fulltone board. Both boards are powered by One Spot supplies.

15.01.2022 Here is the finished pedal board. The Robinsonics custom AB amp switcher can be seen bottom left.

14.01.2022 As you can see, this pedal has been modified at some stage by removing the fuzz switch wiring from the pedal. Neither the wah or fuzz functioned when it was brought in. After I returned all the wiring to factory this afternoon and replaced a faulty footswitch (it has 2), it now works as it should . This pedal will run either the wah or wah with fuzz and there is no option for fuzz only. The fuzz sounds huge! The wah is very vocal. It has a unique lever system to control the wah pot. There are no controls for the fuzz, just a preset level control that you can see on the circuit board. It would be great to be able to use the fuzz on its own. Tomorrow I will mod it to be able to run wah, fuzz or both. Robinsonics loves restoring old pedals.

14.01.2022 Another rhythm guitarist board, this board also has a Boss AC3 acoustic simulator. This save swapping between acoustics and electrics mid set. The pedal order is: Tuner, AC3, Wah, Overdrive, Delay, Flanger and volume pedal. The Volume and Wah pedals are as close to the right as practical. The whole board is powered by a Ciocks Big John power supply. All pedals are screwed to the board.

13.01.2022 The latest two boards from the bench. Here are pictures of the layouts on the ply through to the completed board. Both boards use the One Control Crocodile for patch recall and midi patch transmission to the Strymon pedals.

13.01.2022 Another board underway. A shelf this time to hide Cioks PSU. It's gonna be a beauty! #robinsonics #cioks #strymon #onecontrol

12.01.2022 Here is another view of the board. All cables are George L. All the pedals are screwed to the board - no more Velcro issues. This board is very quiet and sounds fantastic with so many tonal options.

11.01.2022 The Gator case allows for the carrying of leads and accessories with the board. The long cables are custom George L and the short leads are generic patch cables. All these products are available at Mona Vale Music. There is room for at least 2 more single unit pedals in the future (Delay and a Moonshine?).

11.01.2022 Apparently I havent posted for over a month, so here is some projects that have been on the bench. Here is the first of two pedal strips I have put together for a local church. This first one was a rehash of an old board that has been cut to fit a guitar flight case for O.S travel.

10.01.2022 Here is another shot of the board. Cables are started. There will be a custom Robinsonics amp switcher in the top left hand corner. The OCD is missing in this shot. The One Control Crocodile switcher is an excellent way of controlling this number of pedals. Most of the items on this board are available from MVM (Mona Vale Music) where Robinsonics is based.

10.01.2022 As promised, here is the finished board. The order of effects are: Custom input/output box, Input buffer, Qtron, Moonshine fuzz, Stout overdrive, Wampler Hotwired, MI Crunch box, Phase 90, Wha, DIY Chorus, Re-20 Delay and MI boost n buff. All powered by a Gator supply apart from the Qtron (24v supply). George L right angle connectors on the programmable switcher, low profile right angles on the pedals. All wired with George L cable. Awesome tones out of this board. From funk Nile Rodgers to Eric Johnson, its all here.

09.01.2022 The power supply is German. I have not seen this product before. It has many 9volt outs, 2 which are variable, and 2 12volt outs (AC and DC). The 12volts is used to run the Nova Delay. I added a Boss foot switch to control the extra Loop Station functions. The Loop Station is last in the chain to enable all the effects to be used in the loops. The order is: Tuner, Boost, Tube Screamer, Tremolo, Delay, Reverb and Loop Station. The client can still plug a mic into the loop station if required. There is a mixture of prefab leads with a custom lead between the Reverb and the Loop Station as well as the foot switch.

09.01.2022 Here is a before and after of a customers pedalboard refreshed by Robinsonics. A new 12mm ply base board has been made with a carpet top and handles. This will lift in and out of the original pedal case. Pre made cables this time. The pedal order has been revised for the best tonal possibilities and all pedals screwed to the board. The Univibe will be replaced by another rotary effect that will be installed at a later date. The board is now neat and reliable, ready for next weeks recording session and many years of service.

08.01.2022 Here is a new board under construction. This is the initial layout. The unpainted pedal is a home made BYOC chorus. The Qtron and Wah shows the player of this board loves old school funk. The Moen GEC9 is a great alternative to the more expensive One Control switchers. A Robinsonics Moonshine and Stout round out the sounds. This board uses a pedal train frame and case. Now to wire it up.

06.01.2022 Here is the second board. Do you see a common theme here? The Nova delay hasnt quite the fidelity of the newer breed but is quick and easy to use with a great tap tempo. These guys love the Mk4 boost. The drives have a boost as well. As mentioned earlier posts a boost pedal can turn a single drive in to two stages. These boards have three!

06.01.2022 Here is a few pics of one of the latest boards. Like one of my earlier posts, this board has a custom made insert that sits inside a standard pedal board case. Here is the initial layout.

06.01.2022 Here is a new pedal board Im constructing for a client. I have constructed the base for the pedals and are now making the 50 leads to patch it together.

06.01.2022 Another pedalboard by Robinsonics. This is a simple board for the rhythm player in a covers band. We are using a Gator pedal board with gig bag and power supply. The guitar plugs into the Polytune followed by the Robinsonics Vitamin B boost pedal. Signal then goes to the Boss Blues Driver into the Super Chorus. From the chorus it then travels to the Boss stereo volume pedal. Here is the planned layout.

05.01.2022 I keep being reminded to post, so here we go..... Since this Friday will see Boy & Bear play the Sydney Hordon Pavilion, I thought I would post guitarist Killian Gavins custom input/output box. I custom made this for him at the end of last year. There is a single input with a switchable buffer that follows through to an output. There are two return inputs (left and right or dual mono) with a selectable buffered phase reverse on one for mixing forward and backward playing amps together. The last switch is for a ground lift on one output to solve any ground loop that may appear between the amps. The whole box allows for a tuner to be mounted on top, saving space. If you are after this type of box, drop me a message, I may make a run of them if there is enough interest.

04.01.2022 Yes, in this world of boutique pedals (of which I contribute), there is something to be said for the Boss pedals. The only one I dont like is the Tu-3, a serous tone sucker. My board has a CS-3, OD1, HM-2, HR-2, a DD-3 and an CE-2. 3 of these pedals are on this list of greats. The OD-1 sounds like a TS-9 without the tone control. All of these pedals are indestructible. I have owned my DD-3 for 27 years, and it has done over 1000 shows. 5 year warranty when I got it in 89!

01.01.2022 Another board underway. A shelf this time to hide Cioks PSU. Its gonna be a beauty! #robinsonics #cioks #strymon #onecontrol

01.01.2022 It lives and breaths. This is a beast of a board. The order is: Pitchfork, Signacomp, Jupiter, RC booster, AC booster, OCD, OD9pro, OneControl buffer, VP Jr. Volume pedal, Pog 2, and Mbius. All these pedals are switched by the Crocodile switcher. The Timeline is post switcher and the stereo left and right feeds the BigSky. All the Strymon pedals are switched via midi. The Timeline and BigSky are turned on and off via midi as well. #Strymon #OneControl #Robinsonics
