25.01.2022 Listen to "How the rich are burning our future (7/1)" on my Podcast@ https://www.buzzsprout.com/1134899/5918542 It is a good article by Peter Boyle published in Green Left. #ClimateEmergency #ClimateChange #ClimateAction #justice

24.01.2022 You rarely see my heroes in the media. My heroes are everyday people, struggling to get by and still finding time to support the weak and the vulnerable. #championoftheunderdog

24.01.2022 Enjoy your time in Cairns Larissa Waters. Thanks for supporting Cairns candidates Aaron Mcdonald and Daniel Dench. Go 'Green Machine'!!!

22.01.2022 Everyone can see there is something seriously wrong with the system. Capitalism puts rich people on a pedestal, rewards greed and enables the rich to exploit the poor.

19.01.2022 Vulnerable women and children will be impacted by the Morrison Government’s decision to reduce the Job-Seeker rate to the pre-pandemic level of approximately $40 a day. This rate was inadequate to support a basic level of dignity and no decent government would consider returning to it.

18.01.2022 I took Aaron out to Machans Beach the other day. He was a bit wooden, but far superior to that card-board cut out Craig Crawford. #barronriver #queensland #qldpol #greens #election

16.01.2022 It was great to catch up with my bat loving friends at City Hall today. Happy to lend my support, knowing the importance of the spectacled flying fox, especially as a critically important rainforest pollinator and seed disperser.

16.01.2022 Worth a listen. Short but good.

14.01.2022 Community groups in the Far North fear thousands of Australians will become destitute when Job Seeker is slashed this Friday. They failed to secure council support, to lobby the federal government to keep the current rate. #9News | Weeknights from 5.30pm

13.01.2022 Our Comrade Diego Maradona, pictured with the great man (the late Hugo Chávez) has passed. We who live commit to carry on the struggle. R.I.P. Diego.

13.01.2022 If you ever wanted to get behind a real battler taking on the political elite Chris Hooper "Pineapple" needs your support. Like his Page and offer words of support as he takes on the big end of town. #democracy #qldpol #auspol #rockhampton #queenslander

12.01.2022 LGAQ chief Greg Hallam said Mr Pyne's attacks against local governments were "completely unacceptable". https://www.themorningbulletin.com.au//pynes-pis/3190073/

12.01.2022 I'm both astounded and disappointed at how many people don't understand how preferential voting works. This should be basic stuff taught in schools. YOU choose where your preferences go, not the candidates or parties. "Preference deals"* only impact what goes on the How To Vote cards - you do NOT have to follow any of these, and can put the candidates in whatever order you like (*this statement generally doesn't apply to the Senate, there the preference deals are genuinely as... dodgy as a broken frog, although you still have the option to allocate your own there too if you put the effort in). Yes, generally your vote WILL end up with whichever of Labor or LNP you put higher, but that is no reason to put them first. Use your preferences to send them a message - and you never know, sometimes the good guys might get up! Remember also that no matter how much you might like a particular candidate, if elected, they will almost always end up representing their party before their electorate. There are a tiny number of politicians (and an even tinier number of successful ones) who have put their electorate before their party, and generally said party will then crucify them for it. A likeable candidate for a shit party is almost always going to give a shit result (like, in the 99%+ certain doom range, not a 60/40 toss-up - it genuinely isn't worth it). That said, it is incredibly rare to find either a candidate or party (and even rarer to find them together) who lines up EXACTLY with your opinion on every matter. Politics is the art of compromise, so you really do need to research carefully and choose those who are least far from your values. They won't be perfect, but they'll be better than the alternatives. Labor and LNP are NOT "all the same". Yes, there are some disappointing similarities, but the differences are significant. In the same vein, the Greens are NOT radical eco-terrorists who want to steal your ute. DON'T decide who to vote for based on anything you've read in either the Courier Mail or Cairns Post (Insert local News Corpse rags for subsequent elections - Qld is up next though). These are toxic spreaders of bullshit. Have you signed Kevin Rudd's petition for the Royal Commission, on the APH website yet? Why not, if not? And NO, Pauline bloody Hanson does NOT tell it like it is, and is NOT a good choice. Think harder. Think at all, even. (Copyright Rob Kitto). See more

11.01.2022 I endorse Amy MacMahon, Greens for South Brisbane at the upcoming state election. Amy is a wonderful person and would make an outstanding Member of Parliament. Amy always puts the community and people first, not corporations or lobby groups. Please support Amy @AmyMacSouthBris at https://www.amymacmahon.com #auspol2020 #qldpol #queensland #greens #fairness

10.01.2022 BREAKING: Labor has just done a special royalties deal with Adani. They're keeping the details secret, but it's clear that this is a royalties deferral, meaning... that Labor is not only giving a handout to the biggest coal mine in the Southern Hemisphere - but they're also forgoing millions that should be going to schools, hospitals and a COVID economic recovery. In 2017, Labor promised Queenslanders that no taxpayer money would go to Adani. Four weeks out from a crucial election, they've just broken that promise. In the last 12 months, Labor has given mining corporations a royalties freeze, then cut the wages of hard-working teachers and nurses. And now they're giving an extra special deal to Adani for the biggest coal mine in the Southern Hemisphere. Labor and the LNP are on a unity ticket when it comes to handing tax payers’ money over to Adani. The only way to stop Adani is by voting Greens.

06.01.2022 We confronted Scott Morrison on his plans to invest in destructive gas projects that threaten our reef. Scott Morrison's silence shows loud and clear his disda...in for the future of youth and of FNQ. We need a #CleanRecovery- not investment in dirty, outdated fossil fuels like gas!
