25.01.2022 Shane Knuth MP - one of the most hardworking Queenslanders I have the pleasure of knowing and working alongside. The constituents of Hill are in good hands. Good on you, Shane!

23.01.2022 Bega - you beauty! Australian products, soon to be back in Australian hands. It has today been announced Bega Cheese will purchase Lion Dairy and Drinks from Japan's Kirin for $534 million. Bega has fought off rivals China's Mengniu Dairy (bid blocked by the Federal Treasurer last year) and Canadian dairy conglomerate Saputo.... This means brands like Dairy Farmers, Farmers Union, Yoplait and Dare will again be Aussie-owned. #KAPteam #qldpol

22.01.2022 With Peaches and Daisy and the rest of the KAP crew during the Official Opening of the 57th Queensland Parliament yesterday. It was great to have my family with me as I was sworn in as the Member for Traeger for the next term of government. Peaches was pretty happy with the parliamentary procedures but did think there should be a bit less talk and a bit more action for North and regional Queenslanders ... - Robbie Katter

22.01.2022 This is ludicrous. According to a recent report in the Courier Mail, Australia spent almost $250 million importing fruit, vegetables, milk products, butter and cheese in one month alone. This is despite the fact our farmers work tirelessly to produce enough to feed up to 80 million people each year.... The major parties aren't serious about supporting our farmers but the KAP is, and will never give up fighting for them.

20.01.2022 Latest media release below NEW YOUTH JUSTICE MINISTER NEEDS TO HEAD NORTH Labor’s newly-minted Minister for Children and Youth Justice should be in the North’s youth crime-riddled hotspots every other week until the region’s unrelenting crisis is under control, KAP Leader and Member for Traeger Robbie Katter has said. ... Mr Katter said North Queensland’s youth crime crisis, which is particularly acute in Townsville, Cairns and Mount Isa, had been plunged into even deeper uncertainty following the results of the 2020 Queensland Election. He said new minister Leanne Linard, who is the local Member for Nudgee in North Brisbane, no doubt had a role to play in addressing the spiraling youth issues that are eroding public safety in the North. We heard very little from Labor with regards to crime in the lead-up to the election, Mr Katter said. With the Palaszczuk Government now returned for four more years and presiding over a youth crime crisis worse than we have ever experienced, we expect there to be a pretty comprehensive plan ready to be rolled out. Mr Katter said community tensions in Townsville had reached an all-time high, after major incidents at the weekend that saw a man allegedly pursue a stolen vehicle and a Mt Low couple terrorised by two break-and-enters over two days. The KAP is continuing to call on the State Government to pursue Relocation Sentencing, which would provide magistrates and judges an alternative sentencing option for young offenders, offering a space for youth away from the distractions of the city to engage, rehabilitate and learn life skills. Mr Katter said both short and long-term solutions to the youth crime crisis must examine all symptoms and causes, including generational unemployment, alcohol and substance abuse and the efficacy of the Youth Justice Act. The current state of affairs is far from a resolution and frankly, people living in these deeply-troubled regions deserve the right policy that can deal with these offenders effectively while also trying to get them back into society as meaningful community members, he said. If the new Minister isn’t in Townsville, Cairns or Mount Isa every other week until things are under control, then I would have to seriously question how committed she and Labor are to the North post the 2020-election. #KAPteam #qldpol

14.01.2022 From the Townsville Bulletin story, about my re-election and the KAP's plans for the next Queensland Parliament: I’m really glad to have another chance to follow up on the ever growing list of critical needs around the electorate, the leader of Katter’s Australian Party said. The fight for survival in regional Queensland is getting more desperate.... The plan now is to survey the political landscape down in Brisbane to see how things sit, and we will certainly be agitating the government. I’ll be extremely upset if Labor is patting themselves on the back for the job they’ve done; if they’ve ignored us on so many areas. - Robbie Katter MP #KAPteam #qldpol

13.01.2022 We're the boys from the bush and we're back in town... Let's go fellas. ... - Robbie Katter MP #KAPteam #qldpol

12.01.2022 Our offices are getting reports from many frustrated business owners that JobSeeker payments are causing crippling staff shortages as people have little incentive to work. In the coronavirus-free North where there is an abundance of work available, we need a different approach. I back Nick Dametto MP in his claim that things won't improve for our region until the coronavirus supplement is removed and JobSeeker payments are significantly reduced.... -Robbie Katter MP

08.01.2022 There is no greater sacrifice than to lay your life on the line for your comrades or your country. Australia as a nation is dealing with the findings of the Brereton Report, and there is the ultimate expectation that justice will be delivered. However we cannot sit by as our leaders commence a witch-hunt that will lay grossly-misdirected blame at the feet of soldiers who are not only innocent but should be commemorated for their bravery, selflessness and service. ... The Chief of the Defence Force has stated that he will ask the Governor General of Australia to strip the Meritorious Unit Citation awarded to Task Force 66, Special Operations Task Groups who served during the period 30 April 2007 - 31 December 2013. This will impact over 3000 Special Operations personnel including the families of those heroes who have died in combat. 06.01.2022 Congratulations to Cloncurry's Chris Waters - Small LGA Senior Service to NQ Sport Award Winner. Giving kids from the bush the opportunity to play footy or any other sport is an invaluable gift and people like Chris deserve a big pat on the back for making it possible. 02.01.2022 This is alarming. The Queensland Government granted a 99-year lease of Central Queensland's breathtaking Keswick Island to a Chinese-based company, and locals now fear they're being forced out. The Government got us into this mess and now must must fix its colossal mistake. ... This is yet another deeply concerning example of the erosion of our national interests by foreign interference. It applies to the buy-up of our land and homes, our higher education sector, water rights and the movement of our core processing and manufacturing industries offshore. Enough is enough. -Robbie Katter MP

01.01.2022 Well done Barkly Highway State School. I am very impressed and am looking forward to seeing the contributions from the other Isa schools. You have all done us proud!... - Robbie Katter MP

01.01.2022 The people who work hard delivering good old-fashioned country hospitality and customer service like the lovely staff at Julia Creek Newsagency are losing out from the Palaszczuk Government's refusal to direct its meal allowance payments to a "buy local" campaign to boost rural economies Since 2018, I have twice requested that meal allowances provided by the State Government be utilised as a relief method to alleviate losses, first from the drought in 2018, and now in t...he aftermath of the COVID pandemic in 2020 and beyond. My office recently received reports that contract traffic controllers staying in Julia Creek spent their full meal allowance stocking up on a week’s worth of food in the regional centre of Townsville, leaving the small Julia Creek community with hardly a cent. In a disappointing blow, the Minister for Industrial Relations responded that there was no intention to amend the Directive or apply to the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission for a variation to industrial awards or agreements to remove flexibility around how meal allowance payments are made. What a disappointing blow after the State Government had previously agreed to consider how to encourage meal allowance arrangements that better supported Queensland communities and families. This policy must be changed in Parliament. These are unprecedented times and we must take unprecedented action to ensure the survival of the North, particularly the small remote towns that struggle to get by on a daily basis, and ensure we aren't forced to further rely on importing food and goods from overseas. COVID-19 adaptation grants are available for small business in regional Queensland. Click here to learn more: https://www.business.qld.gov.au//advice-su/grants/adaption. - Robbie Katter MP
