25.01.2022 Coffs High polling booth - keep smiling everyone. Doing a great job.

25.01.2022 The National Party have doubled down on their negative and personal campaign. After six years of Government, and 117 years of holding this seat, they should have a track record to spruik. Instead, while we've talked about our plan for Cowper, they've gone nasty. ... Tomorrow, vote accordingly.

24.01.2022 Thanks for the enthusiastic welcome, Bello! And to Gillian and my Bello team of volunteers, you have been amazing. This is the day we've been working towards. Let's get it done!

21.01.2022 A little while ago in Sawtell. No matter what ‘noise’ is going on, we treat our rivals with respect.

18.01.2022 Port Mac, Kempsey, Coffs, Nambucca... if you can get to any of these towns you can vote early. Vote 1 Oakeshott then number ALL other boxes according to your own preference. https://www.oakeshott.com.au/voteoakeshott

17.01.2022 Helping out the volunteers briefly in Coffs. Keep up the excellent work guys!

15.01.2022 Started the big day visiting the polling booth in Dorrigo. Will call at booths around the Coffs region over the next couple hours then we’ll work our way south.

14.01.2022 An election eve shout out to my magnificent team of volunteers! You guys have kept the energy flowing through this campaign. I know a lot of you will have long days tomorrow doing the hard yards at polling booths around the electorate, so keep smiling and waving and getting out our positive message.... And thank you all.

13.01.2022 If you want to vote early, today is your last chance. Vote 1 Oakeshott and 2-8, your choice. For more info https://www.oakeshott.com.au/voteoakeshott

12.01.2022 It's a cracker of a morning. At the opening of the booth in Dorrigo the volunteers were all excited for a big day. Me too! Bring it on.

11.01.2022 The Newstart rate has been too low for too long. In our region, youth unemployment is at 23.3%, and our young people need a liveable income as one mechanism to help them enter the job market. This is also about the 10,000 older Australians who rely on Newstart. They should not be relying on an income that’s below the poverty line. ... I couldn’t raise my family on $40 a day, no one in our region should have to. Our local main-streets also benefit. More money in the community will not only help individuals, but also many small businesses, who are also working hard to avoid a retail recession. Trickle-down economics will not help us, punching-up economics will. I’m on a unity-ticket with John Howard on this one, it’s time for the Newstart rate to be raised.

10.01.2022 A few snapshots from the final week of the campaign. We have given this our all and now await the decision from the ballot box.

08.01.2022 We've voted 1 Let's bring it home.

07.01.2022 Visited another one of the impressive, innovative start-up businesses in Coffs Harbour today. Maurice and his team at Buildonix are keen to grow their building systems business. They want to get bigger, the region needs jobs - elect me as your representative and I will make businesses like this part of a local jobs, education, business strategy that will benefit the whole community.

07.01.2022 A quick update.

07.01.2022 On Saturday, after 117 years of waiting, we can start doing politics differently on the Mid North Coast. There's only three days to go until the election is over. So now is the time to talk to your friends and neighbours, and share why you’ll be voting Independent. http://oakeshott.com.au/voteoakey

05.01.2022 Thanks for the artwork, George!

02.01.2022 Alright, second most important poll of the day. Beard or no beard. Thoughts

01.01.2022 I've scribbled out some thoughts as we come towards the end of the campaign. I've really come to believe it's about connection. If all goes well tomorrow we are going to stay connected, and build on those connections.
