09.01.2022 Hey Everyone, I'm deeply saddened to let you all know that for the safety of our community all future Robogals events, training days, and workshops have been postponed indefinitely. We will be working behind the scenes to develop ways in wh...ich our community can still come together in these tough times, and work towards our goals of gender equity within the STEM workforce. Thank you so much for your continued support, and I hope to see you soon when it is safe for us all. - Sarah Peters Robogals President
06.01.2022 COMMITTEE HIGHLIGHT Before our AGM on the 27th of August, we're highlighting our amazing committee members, to give more of an insight into what goes on at Robogals Adelaide! ... Sarah Peters Role: President Degree: Bachelor of Mathematical and Computer Science and Bachelor of Teaching Would you advise other people to get involved with Robogals and why? The best thing I have ever done in my entire University career was to join Robogals. Not only do I constantly get the opportunity to share and teach what I'm passionate about, I have met so many amazing like-minded people that I absolutely love, and I wouldn't have as easily been able to do that without Robogals. If anyone is ever doubting whether they should come along to a workshop or join the committee, I wholeheartedly encourage them to take the leap and get involved, as you definitely won’t regret it. What is the favourite thing about your role? I love how being President you get to be involved with every aspect of the club; from meeting with partners, to developing new workshops. 2020 has been a super hard year, and unfortunately we haven't been able to go out into schools and deliver workshops as much as we would have liked, but I am so super proud of what we have accomplished regardless! Why did you get involved with Robogals? I am super passionate about STEM education, and also about diversity and inclusion in STEM, therefore Robogals is absolutely perfect for me. If you're interested in what we do, and want to join the new committee, applications for 2020/2021 are linked in our description, and close today at 5pm!!!
05.01.2022 Today we observe the @unitednations International Day of the Girl Child. The world is home to more than 1.1 billion girls under the age of 18. These girls are set to become the largest generation of leaders, entrepreneurs, and change-makers the world has seen. Yet, progress for adolescent girls has not kept pace with the realities they face today and COVID-19 has widened these gaps. Worldwide, nearly 1 in 4 girls aged 1519 years are not receiving education, training, or em...ployment compared to 1 in 10 boys of the same age. By 2021, around 435 million women and girls will be living on less than $1.90 a day including 47 million as a result of COVID-19. Robogals Adelaide is a student-led organisation striving towards making positive social change to lessen gender inequality for young girls in STEM. We aim to be a force to inspire young girls to become the change-makers they are capable of being! See more
