25.01.2022 Yay, its finally raining I hope everyone is getting some nice falls. My trusty side kick and I had to go over to Landhurst this morning and disconnect a pump that Steve and I only put in last weekend as another water point for the cattle. The pump was on the side of the bank and if we had a lot of rain in a short period it would get washed away so Kendall and I disconnected the pump and had to drag it up the bank ( all the time it was raining and slippery as shite ) but we managed to get it up the hill and into the back of the ute... We did it Go the girls

24.01.2022 Explorer heifers out of Brahman cows . Growing out well despite a tough summer season .

24.01.2022 The Brangus benefit ...take a mediocre Brahman breeder with no great genetic history , AI her to a good Brangus bull in this case Braxton of Brinks and four months today since calving you have a good fleshy calf that may make a herd bull if not will definitely make a great steer.

22.01.2022 Its nice when your bull watches your every move and as soon as he sees that biscuit he comes running over like a puppy dog

21.01.2022 Kendalls first time driving the bobcat on her own.. #startthemyoung

21.01.2022 Next stage of the Landhurst tidy up. Pig and dingo habitat has been relocated in the last day or so. Should grow some nice legumes and good pasture given the right conditions. 2 days ago this was just wall to wall lantana .

21.01.2022 When youre not sure what to do you stand in it

19.01.2022 So back in days gone by there were camping and water reserves dotted around the countryside everywhere . These were set up for the purpose of watering and feeding travelling stock and public in the days prior to motorised transport. A maximum stay of one week was permitted from memory.Pretty much all these reserves have been absorbed by neighbouring landholders and not many folk would know their original purpose . In 1981 Dad went to a lands department auction in Rockhampt...on for the camping/ water reserve at dingo and got the 780 acre block for the princely sum of $580 per year for a term of 20 years .which could be renewed once 75 percent of the original term had expired. Total first years rent was $733 which included $153 being our share of the recently erected back boundary fence between the reserve and the neighbour mr Jim Fernie. Rates were about $175 a year . For the first twelve months we used the old Primac saleyards that were on the northern boundary to muster our cattle to . Their days of selling were over so we had the whole setup to our selves . Anyway in 1982 we built a small set of yards in the bank of Jacks lagoon , with timber that Dad had cut from his block at Grantleigh . We then erected the yards and used them up until we sold the lease in 2003. Last year I called in on my way home to Calliope and had a look at them as they lay in disrepair. Brought back a few memories. Dad / mum being the great people they were gave my brother and I a few breeders to start with . These cows were descendants of a mob of cows and calves that dad bought in 1973 from Croydon station at Marlborough just prior to the beef depression that was to make cattle nearly valueless overnight and caused a lot of ruin to many people . Anyway thats a trip down memory lane .

19.01.2022 First time ever that Steve has had to feed the cattle like this #pleaserain

16.01.2022 Out with the old and in with the new.. Replacing some posts and improving the cattle yards at Landhurst.. Thank god for bobcats and excavators, be a tough gig doing them by hand.

16.01.2022 So while some kids got the day with mum , this poor little urchin was put to work helping on Landhurst fixing a busted poly fitting . Anyway I believe that KJ said she enjoyed her self . These plumbing skills will come in handy if the Paris fashion job falls through .

15.01.2022 We are taking TH Explorer 209K12 up to Beef Breeding Services today to be collected before he gets to resume his paddock duties for the spring breeding season. He has been parked up on the bench for a few months and is in fine fettle to produce his next drop of calves. 48 cows mated last season with 46 calves on the ground. Semen will be available for purchase in the near future.

14.01.2022 These weaners have better recall than the dogs do #brangus

13.01.2022 When you’re not sure what to do you stand in it

10.01.2022 A selection of Telpara Hills Explorer babies out of red Brahman cows ... Lovely growth and temperament. We will wean them soon and preg test, hopefully cows will be in calf to deliver another group of equally as good calves.

09.01.2022 Well its getting a touch serious now . All man made surface water is just about gone at Landhurst and Robuckhills .The bores at Robuckhills seems to be holding on , fingers crossed . Put an excavator in at landhurst a few weeks ago and struck a handy spring at a site that is always green . Still making water after 2 weeks and has risen a few inches . Lets hope it continues in this way until we are lucky enough to get a drop or three. On another note ... fencing the back of Robuckhills is another nice pastime at present .kelly says its great exercise and sometimes refuses to go home .

08.01.2022 A lovely but warm morning mustering in the weaners. No sign of rain so well need to start chopping into the sale cattle. Kendall found her favourite bull we named Dilly - Robuck Hills Legacy N3 (P) (Sire - Oaklands Dillinger (P) (AI) (ET) Dam - Oaklands Miss Webcke 435K (P) )

08.01.2022 Steve and I went out to Landhurst today for a look around. I managed to snap a couple of nice photos :) Cant wait to get our cattle there..

06.01.2022 How is everybody going with the drought and/or flooding? There has been some huge cattle losses up north, I hope the farmers get the help they need both financially and emotionally

05.01.2022 Lovely to be back out in the bush. Over at Landhurst today ear tagging, Nils, 7 in 1 and cutting the bull calves. Kendall is gaining some confidence riding so she can eventually help Steve muster the cattle..

05.01.2022 Robuck Hills would like to introduce our newest heifer calf sired by Telpara Hills Explorer 209K12 (P)(AI)(ET) out of our lovely Telpara Hills Miss Csonka 801K (AI)(ET). This little heifer is 801Ks very first calf and she is also Explorers first registered calf so she is pretty special to us :)

04.01.2022 Preg testing day today. 44 out of 46 confirmed pregnant to our bull Telpara Hills Explorer 209K12. Kendall took a lot of interest in the ultrasound and started recognising the positive pregnancies. We also weaned 40 pretty handy calves by the same bull.

04.01.2022 When the catalogue first arrived, Steve and I studied the bull offering for many hours over many nights. From the get go we selected Lot 22 High Calibre as the bull that would take us to the next level in our quest to produce a better article. For the first time ever, weve selected an animal and actually been able to purchase the one we wanted, not the one weve settled for. We are looking forward to what this outstanding sire can do for our breeding program. ... Thank you to the Pearce family for making this opportunity available.

03.01.2022 We went fora bit of a routine inspection this arvo up in the hilly part of home and after fixing a few wires and putting a weaner back in its right spot , we turned around to go home and this lovely sight greeted us . Nice way to finish a good day .

02.01.2022 We would sincerly like to thank Telpara Hills for allowing us to purchase TH Explorer 209K12 last year. As a result, out of 48 cows we preg tested on Sunday 19/03/17 who have been running with Explorer, all 48 were PTIC so thats a 100% strike rate. Well done Explorer and thanks again Telpara Hills :)

01.01.2022 Beer oclock for a few of the ladies , working the forest and doing a good job considering. First Heifer calf by Telpara hills high calibre

01.01.2022 We would like to introduce our newest little baby born at Robuck Hills. A lovely little heifer by Oaks Manning 30T 541Z71 of the same cow family as the Dam. Sire - Oaks Manning 30T 541Z71 Dam - TH Miss Real Deal 541K48 (AI)(ET)... 541K48 is doing us very proud. Purchased from Telpara Hills in 2015, she has produced us a good number of embryos and given us a calf on the ground. She is shaping up to be a great foundation cow for us.. We are looking forward to seeing what 541K48 can produce in the future..
