23.01.2022 Dear Authora Australis Members,

22.01.2022 Mark this one in your diary!

20.01.2022 This is the Barham Balladeers program, as amended due to covid. cluBarham did a great job under trying conditions. Thank you!

19.01.2022 The fabulous line up continues with Tidal Moon! "Acoustic ripples upon a sea of imagination - Classical/Celtic meet Folk/Country. ... Barbara Jeffrey and Jose Garcia combine a hybrid Celtic/Paraguayan harp and soaring soprano vocals with the timbre of baritone vocals, guitar, flute and bodhran. Beautiful traditional, original and contemporary music.

19.01.2022 A most excellent afternoon Sunday gone with Binalong folk and friends in our first painting at the pub workshop. Beautiful creations and a beautiful atmosphere ...with the afternoon sun drying all the artworks! Well done all. Thanks to Binalong arts group workshop people: Lizz Murphy and Julie Weymouth. Thanks also to Julie Patterson and family from the pub. Thomas Duffy for always lending a hand. Xx See more

19.01.2022 Was it really only last weekend I enjoyed my final concert for what seems as if it will be a very long time? It seems as if the world has turned on a five cent piece. The Concert for Cobargo was a wonderful community event - a great memory to carry into this time of social distancing and self-isolation. So, we will grit our teeth and remind ourselves that, eventually, we'll reach the other side. Sending love and good thoughts to all my poetry buddies who are doing it tough xxx

13.01.2022 Really looking forward to this concert. It's got the trifecta... great music, poetry and an excellent cause.

13.01.2022 Blackened Billy presentations, including video of the reading of the winning poem (in part)... Congratulations to dynamo Janine Keating, who made it all happen in a very short time frame. Also congratulations to Catherine Lee (winner), Shelley Hansen (2nd and 3rd) and all the HCs and C. And well done to Banjo Paterson Australian Poetry Festival 2020, who saw the potential and embraced this iconic competition.

11.01.2022 Another local artist, Robyn Sykes, will be joining us at the Concert for Cobargo! Robyn Sykes sculpts words using metaphors, metre, similes, rhyme and more. Co...me with the Australian Champion Bush Poet on a tantalising trip through versatile verse. Laughs galore! Authentic Aussie entertainment <3

11.01.2022 Of course this applies to poetry too!

11.01.2022 What a great Poets’ Breakfast we had at Barham Balladeers. Lots of laughs and audience participation. We missed our Victorian friends who were locked down and couldn’t get to our lovely brekky. Our hearts go out to you Hopefully next time!

10.01.2022 I’m delighted with my results in the Nandewar Poetry Competition. Thank you to organisers including Max Pringle and judge John Peel. This is one of the few comps where previously published poems are accepted. "From waltz to rock'n'roll was previously published in Not Very Quiet Issue 5.

09.01.2022 Don't forget . . . Submissions for our 2021 festival are now open! The festival will run from Friday June 18 to Sunday June 20 and will include creative worksho...ps, a Family Fun Day, and over thirty events celebrating storytelling in all its forms. In addition, the Schools Program runs in the week leading up to the main festival from Tuesday June 15 to Friday June 18. StoryFest welcomes submissions from artists, filmmakers, storytellers, writers, musicians, and performers of all kinds. We are also interested in talking to people with proven skills in facilitating events, MC-ing, or similar in the festival environment. So go on, surprise us! Pitch us an event idea, spruik your credentials, open our eyes to the limitless possibilities of storytelling. True stories, made-up ones, perhaps a light shone on little known or seldom explored facts about our world; we welcome all suggestions.

09.01.2022 It isn't long until the Concert for Cobargo - have you got your tickets yet?? If not, head on down to Comur House to secure your seats! We have a great line up ...of artists, including local singer/songwriter, Daniel Kelly. Daniel writes and plays ballads from the Irish, Scottish and English traditions along with original material in the folk ballad style. Daniel’s fourth album was a set of original ballads written about the Yass Valley region, with some of the songs focusing on the strong connection Yass has to Ireland. 06.01.2022 Another fabulous performer who will be sharing his talents with us at the Concert for Cobargo is Jeff Brown - harmonica player extraordinaire! Jeff began playi...ng harmonica in his early teens. Since 1979 he has regularly played in bush and folk bands, as well as classical groups, duos and with some country bands. Jeff has a passion for Celtic music, playing regularly at the Celtic sessions at the Goulburn Bush Traditions and at many festivals. He has taught beginner and advanced harmonica courses at colleges, schools and TAFE for over 20 years.

03.01.2022 Here's poem four for my poetry marathon #PeetMeNotLeave... The challenge is: 8 days, 8 poems, 8 invites. Selected poems will be translated and included in The R...ussian Almanac anthology. Thanks to Lizz Murphy and Sarah St Vincent Welch for inviting me to the challenge, and to Joan Radford for requesting some humorous poems. I invite Sue Pearce to the challenge (if you would like to...). As you can see in the photo, the canola is spectacular at the moment - and so is the Paterson's Curse. Cinderella Paddocks By Robyn Sykes A warm breeze wafts the winter out and breathes away the cold. The Cinderella paddocks dance in frocks of fairy gold. But their perfume clogs my sinus, smells like cabbage on the boil, so I sneeze and curse canola and switch to olive oil. Robyn Sykes 2014 See more
