24.01.2022 Looking through my archives recently, I came across these photos of a house reno I designed a number of years ago. It was a typical brick veneer house located at Burleigh Heads, which was transformed into a Balinese style sanctuary for my clients. A timber entry path meandered through the garden, while timber framing and battens contrasted against crisp white walls.

23.01.2022 Interesting article for architects and designers. Some of the issues raised should also be considered beyond public toilet design.

23.01.2022 #endDV #lightacandle2020 @smallsteps4hannah remembering Hannah, Aaliyah, Laianah, and Trey, and so many others who have been killed or harmed through domestic and family violence.

22.01.2022 A number of years ago, I made a silver spoon when my friends’ baby Hugo was born. When their second bub arrived, I didn’t have access to the same forging equipment, so, as is often the case, the poor second child missed out! But I recently decided to do a modified spoon. I bought a handmade wooden spoon and just made his name from silver. Felix is 3 now, so he could actually read his name when I gave it to him today! Better late than never...

22.01.2022 Renovation and repurposing of the 1880s house, Abbotsleigh is well underway. Interesting to see what is discovered as the layers are peeled back. The ground floor was built on ground with joists directly on a slab (with lots of rubbish and wires in between the joists added at some date later than 1880s ). Holes in walls have been stuffed with newspaper from 1955 - Maybe they were short of building materials in the 50s?! Construction being done by @bsmbuilding Looking forward to completion of the project! @ Bowen Hills

22.01.2022 One of my all time favourite projects is the St Lucia house. It will soon be available for sale, so check out the link in my bio to see the listing and to see more photos! Facebook won’t let me share the link to the real estate listing, so go to my Instagram bio if you want to check it out.

22.01.2022 Latest medical suite recently completed featured rich chocolate browns and whites. Gorgeous wenge timber panels contrasted against rust orange fabric, glass and 2 pack paint.

22.01.2022 Dark timber, black and white were combined in this medical suite to provide an elegant and minimalist, yet calm and welcoming environment for both staff and patients.

21.01.2022 Recently completed 2 bathrooms and ensuite renovations. We went with a minimalist look using a neutral palette of tiles contrasting with rich brush box timber and white vanities.

21.01.2022 A recently completed medical suite project, located at Westside Private Hospital, used light timber, white, black and French navy to achieve a crisp, clean, but warm look without being clinical. Fitout construction was completed beautifully by @dentifitaustralia @ Westside Private Hospital

19.01.2022 One of my former projects - a gorgeous family home in Bulimba - has just been listed for sale. A number of years ago, we refurbished and extended the original Q...ueenslander by building in underneath and to the rear to take advantage of the northern aspect and to create a beautiful modern space to live in as well as becoming a perfect backdrop for my clients’ artwork and mid-century furniture. The house is listed with Place Bulimba. https://www.eplace.com.au/property/qld-bulimba-r2-1676549 See more

19.01.2022 Last pit stop was @bonorong to check out the amazing work they do with injured and orphaned wildlife. That little Tassie devil doesn’t look that viscous, does he ? Also got to say hello to some gorgeous huskies at Mawson’s Hut as part of the Antarctic Festival (always a festival to go to somewhere!) @ Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary

18.01.2022 If a pool is to be an integral part of a house, it has to complement the design of the house as well as have good links to the house, both visually and physically. Flick through to see the pools in 4 of my residential projects. I could cope with hanging around any of these in summer (or our very warm winter), cocktail in hand!

18.01.2022 When the procrastination vibe is strong avoiding weekend work! Big box hanging around in my living room, so decided to make a cat house. Kind of got carried away and made it mid-century modern. Think the cat liked it...

17.01.2022 Intriguing sounds.

16.01.2022 Fab morning doing a run swim run as part of the @gymcartelnewstead team series challenge! Such an amazing crew to train and hang out with! And well done to my Wolf pack for winning @ Walkabout Creek, D'Aguilar National Park Australia

16.01.2022 This elegant 1880s house, Abbotsleigh, is beginning it’s new life as a commercial building. Facing demolition at one stage, it was heritage listed which saved it, but it has been empty for a few years. Building work included a ramp being added to ensure equitable access as well interior fitout work (more photos soon of interiors). The landscaping was the finishing touch completed just before Christmas. Swipe to see the before photo.

15.01.2022 The joys of working from home! My new office manager has a different way of filing to me! #catsofinstagram #catsincharge #notgettingworkdone #workingfromhome

14.01.2022 Amazing transformation of an ugly duckling! This house had been divided into 3 units and @etch_artisan and @buildingac converted it back into a gorgeous family home. It was such a lovely project to work on with them. The workmanship by Andrew of @buildingac was superb! Congrats Kate and Andrew!

14.01.2022 Another non-architectural post, but this cutie @ruby_the_ridgey is my new favourite Instagram feed to follow. She is my sister’s family’s new pup and playing with her at Christmas time is so much fun!

14.01.2022 Sometime the answer is black and white! Refresh for a client’s office building was achieved with crisp black walls and white highlights. Swipe to see before photo. Hard and soft landscaping is still underway.

13.01.2022 From house to units back to house again is the life story of this place. Here are some more photos of this ugly duckling transformation project which created a family home for @etch_artisan and @buildingac. Superb workmanship by @buildingac ! Flick through to see a few before photos at the end to check out how startling the change was.

12.01.2022 Magical place on a magical day! The views from Wineglass Bay Lookout and Cape Tourville were incredible. Love a good lighthouse as well. I did become a grumpy old woman when people were smoking at the Lookout! @ Freycinet National Park

11.01.2022 Musical, magical, misty and a little bit whacky. Spent Easter Sunday at an amazing place watching performances at the Piano Mill and in the surrounding forest. The Piano Mill is a copper clad tower, designed by Bruce Wolfe of Conrad Gargett, which houses 16 pianos over 2 storeys and is a musical instrument in itself. A little bit cold and wet, but the mist through the trees just added to the atmosphere.

09.01.2022 Out of practice, so I got into iso sketching the last couple of months - not a single building was drawn! Oops!

08.01.2022 Some progress (almost complete) shots of Graceville house. The new deck and kitchen are shown here. There is also a new pool and bathroom, en-suite and laundry refurbs, but photos of those are still to come. I’ve included a few before photos to show the transformation. Thanks for letting me visit yesterday @laurahprocter . It’s exciting that you are moving back in, even though there is still a bit of work to go. Great building work by @interior_exterior_builders

07.01.2022 Picture perfect day at Burleigh! Sometimes it’s essential to escape the drawing board, even if just for the day. A day at the beach is so rejuvenating! @ Burleigh Beach

06.01.2022 Very excited to be doing some set designs for two upcoming shows for @brisbaneballet at @judithwrightcentre . Four Seasons is on Friday 17th April and Saturday 18th April (matinee show). Dichotomy is on Saturday evening, 18th April. Would love to see you there! Go to the Judith Wright website to buy ticket if you’d like to support these local productions. I’ve seen some of the rehearsals and these ballet dancers are superb!

05.01.2022 For another suite at the Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital I used the classic combination of timber, white and charcoal, with colour brought in through the logo and furniture. White porcelain was used for the desk and counter tops to give a fine edge, but were then trimmed underneath with American Walnut for contrast. Fine lines were also emphasised in the black shadowlines of the timber wall panelling and the slim white feature pendant lights.

05.01.2022 Abbotsleigh, a grand 1880s house has been converted to suit a specialist medical practice. Swipe for some interior shots as well as a few before photos at the end! Building work by @bsmbuilding cabinets by @alignkitchensipswich photography of new works by @cacophoto

04.01.2022 A relaxing and inspiring day at Tweed Regional Art Gallery, checking out the Marion Hall Best exhibition. of @pennymh7 ‘arranging the flowers’ in the Marion Best interior by @contactrupert #tweedregionalgallery #marionhallbest #marimekko #inspiringinteriors #stilllovethesheepsculptures @ Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre

03.01.2022 After many years of good intentions, @kirstyvanderplas and I (and C) finally made it to Tassie and MONA! Loved the art, the architecture and the people. Could do it all again! Yes, I was cold at the end of the day, waiting for the ferry, and the two from the northern hemisphere, not so much @ MONA - Museum of Old and New Art

03.01.2022 Mini-Tassie tour continued with a quick drive north of Hobart. I first tasted oysters in Tasmania as a 12 year old and absolutely loved them. Still love them many years later (too many to put a number to ), so was happy to have some fresh from the source at Devil’s Corner Winery. Also got to check out the viewing tower designed by @cumulus_studio Then continued further up the coast to Bicheno, another stunning area!

02.01.2022 Cool venue and great gig by @undergroundopera for West End to Broadway show! Love that a building that was derelict and neglected, has been made usable for performances.

02.01.2022 Another morning of inspiration with a visit to the Rosebery House, which was designed by Andresen O’Gorman Architects in 1995. Such an amazing house to experience, walking through the 3 pavilions and links between, with timber screens and trellis providing privacy and shade as well as creating interesting play of shadow and light. Thanks @greta_burkett for letting us visit one last time!

02.01.2022 Sometimes working from home is not very productive.... #helpfulcat #tryingtoworkfromhome #notworking #igiveup #lovemycatsometimes

02.01.2022 Hard to imagine anything but our current Sydney Opera House at Bennelong Point now! Check out what else was in the running!
