25.01.2022 Is there a better way to finish a door knock than a Bunnings sausage sizzle? The Binningup community garden team were down at Treendale Bunnings fundraising for their community garden that I have also committed $5,000 to when re-elected!

25.01.2022 Yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure of attending the Binningup Bowling Club's Mixed Fours Carnival. Such a fantastic event, which involved bowling clubs from all over Murray-Wellington and the South West Region get together which I was more than happy to sponsor! Events like these are only possible due to the McGowan Governments swift and strong response to the pandemic, which allows Western Australians to have the freedom that most of the world is unable to enjoy. ... Well done to the winners, participants and everyone who organised this great event!

22.01.2022 We all know just how hard 2020 has been. Here in WA, our State is in the best possible position as we continue our strong recovery from COVID-19. But times are... still tough for many Western Australians, and there is always more work to do. At the start of the pandemic, to give everyone certainty, we rolled out a freeze on all household fees and charges. Today, as a result of our strong budget management over the last three years, we can now go one step further. Every household in Western Australia will receive a historic, one-off $600 Household Electricity Credit. The WA Household Electricity Credit will be automatically applied to every Synergy or Horizon Power residential account as of today. You will see it on your own bill in November and December. It'll mean WA families have a bit of extra money available in the lead up to Christmas. The $600 credit is fully funded through the recent Bell Group settlement, for the losses incurred in the Bell Group collapse in the early 1990s. It made sense that these funds go straight back to Western Australians. Especially in times like these, when people may need that bit of extra financial relief because of COVID-19. But I have a request: If this credit means you can spend some extra money, use it to support our local WA businesses. By spending local, you'll be helping to support WA jobs, support your fellow West Aussies, and keep WA safe and strong.

22.01.2022 We have rolled out the $1 million WA Respectful Relationships Teaching Support Program pilot, supporting school staff to teach students about domestic violence prevention. So proud that the Pinjarra School is one of the first to complete this program. Well done Christian and team. By teaching students about healthy and positive relationships and by implementation of a whole-of-school approach to violence prevention, we’re making sure WA students have a better understanding of preventing, identifying and stopping family and domestic violence.

17.01.2022 Liza Harvey talks a big game on jobs. But when the Libs were in charge, they sent our manufacturing jobs to Queensland.

16.01.2022 Containers for Change WA launched on Thursday! Yesterday I was joined by Minister Stephen Dawson MLC at the Stanley Road Waste Management Facility in Wellesley. Already they have had an abundance of people returning their bottles and cans which will mean less rubbish on the streets. ... Another McGowan Government promise that has been delivered!

15.01.2022 Great news for manufacturing in WA

13.01.2022 Tonight I had the pleasure of representing Minister for Sport Mick Murray and Minister for Regional Development Alannah MacTiernan at the opening of the new Harvey Recreation and Cultural Centre. An amazing building funded by three different levels of Government, with the McGowan Government contributing $800,000 towards the final project.

13.01.2022 The McGowan Government is making TAFE even more accessible to West Aussies across the State. Together with the Federal Government, we’re announcing $8 million to upgrade TAFE campuses across WA as part of the Revitalising TAFE Campuses Across Australia program. The program will deliver important upgrades to vocational infrastructure and improved training delivery. ... This is in addition to the State Government’s $229.2 million Rebuilding our TAFEs investment to revitalise training and upgrade essential infrastructure across the five WA TAFE colleges, delivering a pipeline of work for Western Australians.

13.01.2022 Always great to catch up with Tina and Jo at the Brunswick Junction Community Resource Centre. They're doing great things and have great forward thinking for the enrichment of the community.

11.01.2022 You've probably seen the deals on regional WA airfares that we've secured over the past couple of years. They've helped tens of thousands of people get out to ...regional WA, supporting local jobs and our local economy. Well, we've got another one - and this is the biggest one yet. We've partnered with Virgin Australia and Qantas to deliver 50,000 affordable airfares to or from Broome, Exmouth and Kununurra - and they are on sale now. Our State's beautiful north offers some of the most unique and sought-after experiences and adventures available anywhere on the planet. The tourism industry in the State’s north has felt the impacts of COVID-19 the most, with its remoteness making it more difficult to attract visitors from within WA. The last time we offered discounted flights between Perth and Broome and Perth and Kununurra - they sold out within a week. So don't wait - do your bit for WA tourism and jobs by booking your trip up north today. Bookings can be made online or through your local travel agent. Go out, wander out yonder and support WA jobs.

09.01.2022 Out in force in Kingston today! Talking about the $600 electricity credit the McGowan Government has given every household in WA. Also talking about the $2.5 million dollar investment in Kingston Primary School and $15 million dollar investment into Australind Senior High School. ... If you see us out and about make sure to say hi!

06.01.2022 Recfishwest held their annual Waroona Trout Festival at the Drakesbrook Weir yesterday! A great day of releasing the trout, classes on how to fly fish and other family events and activities. There was also a prize for anyone who caught the big trout I released. ... Were you there and did you manage to catch any trout?

05.01.2022 Are you heading out to #wanderoutyonder this weekend? Why not head out to beautiful Waroona, only a day trip from Perth or stay the night at the Lake Navarino Holiday Park! There's so much to do in the area, from all the beautiful rivers and the Waroona Dam. Have a wine at Drakesbrook Fine Wines and sit back and enjoy the serenity!... In town there's also plenty to do, so when you're planning your next getaway, head to Waroona!

03.01.2022 This morning at Cookernup's Watch out Wednesday I presented Jac with some bottles of wine signed by the Premier. A few weeks ago I hosted a virtual birthday fundraiser and Jac organised a online party which deserved some a reward! Enjoy Jac x

02.01.2022 Established in 2017, the McGowan Government’s RSPCA Pets in Crisis Program helps women and children fleeing domestic violence, by temporarily fostering out their pets while they get back on their feet. We know that some women stay in violent relationships because they can't take their pets with them and fear they'll be hurt or killed. By providing temporary foster care for their pets, we’re providing practical help to support them on their path out of violent relationships.

01.01.2022 We all know how important the mining industry is to our economy and WA jobs. When COVID-19 hit, here in WA we did everything possible to ensure the industry cou...ld continue to function at full capacity. I want to thank everyone in the industry for the sacrifices you are making and the efforts you are going to, through this pandemic. Western Australia is the engine room of the national economy. The WA hard border has been crucial in ensuring the mining and resources industry has not been hampered by COVID-19. As a result, the industry is going from strength to strength and today, BHP have made a major announcement for WA jobs. I welcome their commitment to supporting local workers and apprentices, here in Western Australia. This $800 million investment will create a pipeline of work for Western Australians, and 1,250 additional training positions at its FutureFit Academy in Welshpool. My government is committed to working with WA’s resources sector to ensure WA stays safe and strong, and can recover from COVID-19 stronger than ever.
