25.01.2022 Irritable? Fatigued? Forgetful? I'm hearing from so many people this week experiencing all this and more during Stage 3/4 lockdown. But the most consistent - tiredness and fatigue. Physical, emotional, mental bone-weary tiredness. How are you?

25.01.2022 Are you a small business owner? Keep this resource in mind if you need further wellbeing support. It's free and available right now. Share with anyone you think might find it helpful. https://www.beyondblue.org.au//newaccess-for-small-busines

24.01.2022 Men need each other for emotional connection and support. Simple but not always easy.

23.01.2022 Feeling all the feels at the moment? Try adding 'for now' - a simple tip for riding emotions even when the feeling is positive

22.01.2022 Had a heavy week? Owls.

21.01.2022 What's your favourite colour? Here's mine In amongst the stress and uncertainty and frustration and tiredness and sadness and weirdness of this year, I hope you find time to connect and breathe and feel the beauty

21.01.2022 Mid Week Baking - Dairy-free Raw Chocolate I add roast almonds and cranberries YUM! Makes a really good homemade gift at this time of the year

21.01.2022 This is a simple explanation of relationships bids and how important they are. It's often the small things over time that make (or break) a relationship.

20.01.2022 I hit a wall recently, feeling trapped on this monotonous roller coaster that is Covid lockdown life. I’ve made some slight shifts and adjustments (who knew having a tv dinner night on the couch would bring a tinge of variety to the never ending sameness of each day). But it’s a complex dance of managing my energy levels, expectations I put on myself and the reality of all of us living, working and schooling from home. The first lockdown had me thinking about slowing down a...nd wondering what the lessons were for humanity. Second time round is far less interesting. This is a longish read but explains it well.

20.01.2022 Mid-Week Baking - Coconut Flour Brownies Currently my favourite brownie recipe, and judging by how fast they disappear around here (), I'm not the only one. Good thing they're super simple to make. https://detoxinista.com/coconut-flour-brownies/

19.01.2022 So what did you do on the weekend? Me? I got my motorcycle riders licence (learners) How was it? The last 2 days have been intense, tiring, cold, uncomfortable, fun, exciting and nerve-wracking. I've felt all the feelings, plus big surges of adrenaline It took me a while to decide that I was actually going to get my motorbike licence, then at the last minute Stage 4 restrictions were announced and it looked like the course was going to be cancelled (a part of me was sec...retly hoping). But no, in this topsy turvy world we currently live in the 2 day course was deemed a yes - allowed to continue. Now it's up to me - take my scooter and L plates and beginner self out there and practice practice practice Are you a motorbike rider or wannabe? Any tips for a newbie? @ Calder Park Raceway See more

19.01.2022 Bedside books With the colder weather and darkness falling earlier, the pull to jump into bed and get lost in a book is strong. Do you know that feeling? I've just finished reading 'Stasiland' by Anna Funder and about to start 'My Grandmother's Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies' by Resmaa Menakem. What are you reading at the moment?

18.01.2022 Do you have new starts in your house this year? My youngest daughter is starting Year 12 so it's the last first day of school for us forever How about you?

18.01.2022 Asking someone how they’re going starts with noticing. Has the person seemed not themselves lately? A bit down or withdrawn? Maybe more angry, frustrated or fed up? Or you know many are doing it tough with restrictions and lockdowns and it’s important to check in. Caring about each other includes noticing and being willing to have a conversation. And then listening, with open heart and open ears. ... You don’t need to have all the answers or even the right words. What type of listener you are is just as important, if not more so. Think about how you like to be listened to. Patiently, non-judgementally, kindly. Feeling heard and understood, knowing it’s ok to open up. Looking out for each other is something we can all do, especially this year. #ruokday

18.01.2022 This short video does a great job of explaining the impact of trauma on our nervous system. It's ok to ask for help and find a counsellor or therapist you feel comfortable with.

17.01.2022 Weekend Baking - Snickerdoodles I remember making Nigella's Snickerdoodle recipe years ago and this one is a really good replica of that. (Total transparency - I haven't made this recipe yet, it was my daughter and I just got to try the result. Fun to have another baker in the house ;) )

16.01.2022 What's so great about coaching? Fair question and I've spent a lot of time reflecting on it. And it always comes back to what's possible when you have someone in your life (coach) who is there for you, listens in a way that powerfully taps into your wisdom and can creatively help you navigate the challenges in your life. The ICF defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them (you) to maximize their (your) personal an...d professional potential. A good way to put it To book an appointment or discuss what you're looking for, PM me or email robyn @ robynpatton.com

14.01.2022 How are you going with your wishes, intentions and resolutions for 2021? Did you start strong and you're now somewhere else? Be kind on yourself. We can easily be caught in a big upswing of positive ideas and resolutions when the clock ticks over into the new year, but the reality can look very different after a couple of weeks. Go gently. And if you want further support on creating 2021 how you want it to be, get in touch. Limited weekly coaching appointments available. DM me or email [email protected]

13.01.2022 How do you shop local? This Xmas, more than ever, I'm thinking about how I can support local businesses when choosing gifts for my friends and family. Here are some of my favourites. What are yours? * The Intrinsic Essential Oil blend from Intrinsic Health & Healing, Natural Health Hub (my friend and I dabbed it straight on when I gave it to her!)... * Anushka Sticky Chai from Anushka Chai (always a packet in my fridge) * Gift Pack from Nude Nourishment (2 years running now I've given Catherine's beautifully wrapped gift packs to grateful friends) * Soap and pure beeswax candles from School of Domestic Goddessery (from Sam's own bees!) * Gift certificate from Gisborne Health Essentials (the Weleda men's shaving cream is a favourite around here and perfect for the men in your life wanting to dial back the chemicals) or Saint Sparkle Cleaning Co. (what's better than the gift of a clean low tox house?!) * Natural water bottle and eco skincare and makeup from Alter Your Health (or stock up on Boody basics, my daughter and I love their leggings and socks) * Hamper from Mountain View Garlic (local garlic is the shizz!) * Couple of jars of The Fermentary kimchi and kraut with some Dreaming Goat Dairy haloumi mmmmm! * Life & Fork Cooking School gift voucher (my kids loved Erica's cooking classes) * Black Chicken Axilla Natural Deodorant Paste from Nature's Garden Organic Grocery (yes, I have a friend who loves receiving this as a gift - I send her multiple jars at a time!) * And of course GN Classics (located in Gisborne) to restore your classic Vespa for upcoming summer riding :) Last year I received a gift voucher for my favourite local cafe and it was perfect, so think about who might appreciate their next meal on you <3 What local favourites are you gifting this year?

13.01.2022 Workplace Wellness Once an employee feels profit is more important than people in the organisation, a shift happens. It weakens loyalty, productivity and engagement. It creates situations where people feel undervalued, stressed and often disillusioned. So what can managers and people leaders do to avoid (or at least minimise) this scenario? Go back to the basics - build, cultivate and nurture relationships with your people. Invest the time required for open communication, b...e curious, listen. When the perception of profit-first takes root and grows, you risk losing not just motivated employees but the foundation on which the business needs to thrive.

12.01.2022 Useful info on the difference between a career coach, life coach and therapist.

10.01.2022 Welcome November! I wonder what you have in store for us? I'm looking forward to sunny days ahead for scooter rides, hopefully our first crop of potatoes and riding the exam rollercoaster with my Year 11 daughter. And staying grounded as the bumps of 2020 continue to blow through our collective psyches. I'm also looking forward to welcoming clients back into my office space for in person sessions... Life coaching + 2020 = a very smart move! Send me a message or email robyn @ robynpatton.com to book. Virtual sessions also available.

09.01.2022 What are you hungry for?

09.01.2022 Change, uncertainty and restrictions...2020 just keeps giving

08.01.2022 Where I live, mask-wearing is not compulsory if you're running or jogging. So this morning I went for a run (yes, giving a wide berth around everyone I passed). Have you been inspired or thinking about going for a run lately?

07.01.2022 I sometimes find it challenging to resist the urge to multitask during Zoom meetings. How about you?

05.01.2022 Hoo boy. The last two weeks have been an 'interesting' sh*t storm of tech issue and communication kersnuffles. Anyone else feeling the pinch lately? #mercuryretrograde

04.01.2022 Weekend Baking - Sourdough English Muffins For a sourdough beginner like me, these are super simple to make. They’re perfect for weekends - mix the dough the night before and then you’ve only got two easy steps in the morning. I’ve made them several times now and always amazed that you bake them in a frypan, not oven!

04.01.2022 Only a handful of coaching appointments left for this week. If you'd like one of them, follow link below to book. https://robynpatton.as.me/initialcoachingsession

03.01.2022 A wall of kindness and generosity - these are all pre paid coffees at a local cafe for anyone who needs it. I think there’s so much going for a Pay it Forward Economy. What do you reckon?

03.01.2022 Pinterest bans all weight loss ads a good step in the right direction

02.01.2022 Do you work for an organisation that offers EAP (Employee Assistance Program)? Check out - it’s there not just for you, but possibly for eligible family members as well (like a teen or someone 18-25yo who might be struggling at the moment). De-stigmatise and normalise getting outside help and support

02.01.2022 Happy Halloween! It might'nt look the same as other years, but we have cake! Thanks Blackbird Cakes for bringing some much needed super cute spooookiness to Halloween 2020... #supportlocal

02.01.2022 Weekend Baking - Sea Salt Dark Chocolate Granola Oats is one of those workhorse ingredients in my pantry. Slighly underappreciated but hardworking. Not just as warming porridge (we're all fans in this household) but whizzed into oat flour for baking or as a chunky filler (check out My New Roots Life Changing Loaf of Bread for the best of the latter). I hadn't made granola for a while and wanted to try something a bit different. This sea salt dark chocolate granola ticked all... the boxes, including being *slightly* addictive (I reduced the sugar, don't skimp on the salt). What's your favourite way of using oats?

01.01.2022 Weekend Baking - Salted Tahini Caramel Millionaire Bars I haven’t been doing much sweet baking recently, getting my hit by diving into sourdough bread baking (yes, the Corona cliche). Today I felt like making these sweet treats. It’s such a weird time and baking feels familiar. During the week I was struck by this strong feeling of being worlds apart from everyone. Virtual catch ups, phone calls and texts just aren’t the same. Anyone else?... Anyway I made these bars, and I was putting them in the fridge to harden (before the chocolate layer) and I knocked the tin and it ended up on the floor. All of it (I’ll pop a photo in the comments). So I pick myself up (and the mess which went straight in the bin) and promise to try again next weekend
