20.01.2022 Today I joined Dan Andrews to outline our roadmap out of lockdown. Importantly it includes some significant announcements for schools and early childhood servic...es I want to share with you. Students will begin returning to school next term in a careful, staged approach. For the first week of Term 4, all students will continue to learn remotely, except senior secondary students doing VCE/VCAL essential assessments on-site and, for VCE students, the General Achievement Test (GAT) on 7 October. Students in regional and rural specialist schools can continue to attend on-site. From 12 October, metropolitan Melbourne students in Prep to Grade 2, VCE and VCAL and specialist schools will return to on-site learning. Teachers will only need to be on-site to deliver classes if their students are, or to provide supervision for students who need to attend on-site. Otherwise they are able to work from home. All regional and rural Victorian students will return to on-site learning from 12 October. Schools will have local flexibility to determine the best staged approach for different year levels, with all students to be back on-site by Friday 16 October. Students in Years 3 to 10 in metropolitan Melbourne will continue remote and flexible learning, with a decision on their on-site return to be made based on future health data and expert public health advice. Early childhood education and care will be open to all children from 28 September, with parents/carers no longer requiring a permit. Sessional kindergarten will be open for all children to attend at the start of Term 4, and eligibility for outside school hours care attendance will continue to align with schools. I know how hard this period has been on everyone. I want to take this opportunity to thank all our brilliant school and early childhood staff, parents, carers and most importantly students.

18.01.2022 Today, September 10th is national R U OK Day. An important day on the calendar, reminding us all that one conversation can save a life. Reaching out to those around us can be a difficult and uncomfortable conversation but remember that you don't have to be an expert to care and support someone. Connect in a meaningful way, listen and encourage/support the person to take action. So don't forget to ask someone today R U OK ?

10.01.2022 What a fantastic experience the Dukes had at the Summit Camp. Every student should be proud of how they worked together and grew as individuals. Some were scared, some were challenged but all got comfortable with being uncomfortable! Well done to our Duke of Ed class of 2020.

06.01.2022 Art Club - where makers meet and creatives cluster - happens in Room 14 every Monday and Thursday lunchtime. Students - like Henry and Charles - set projects for themselves, making art in a range of materials - like 'Neon Bear' and 'Patrick.' Our senior students work alongside our juniors, sharing tips and tricks. AND, our art clubbers were so keen, Art Club happened during RL!

06.01.2022 While it has been difficult for school children across Victoria during lockdown, Rochester Secondary College students didn't let distance learning get in the way of their artwork.

04.01.2022 Great start to the Duke of Ed Adventurous Journey. On our way we stopped at Jumpz to used up some energy and looking forward to the next few days at the Summit Camp!

04.01.2022 16 year old Cameron Keenan's proving one of Central Victoria's young talents on the green, bowling at state and skipping in the Weekend Pennant. His father admits his son's starting to show him up, but the father- son duo's just happy to play on the same side.

03.01.2022 Thank you to the team at Paul Evans Welding for our new SunSmart shade. With the help of a grant from SunSmart we have been able to provide more shade to protect our students and staff.

02.01.2022 Year 7 Visual Arts students spent today's double exploring experimental printmaking. Students have been exploring Indigenous art and comparing the bird's-eye-view of some works with the use of perspective techniques in non-Indigenous or 'Western' art. During remote learning, students created a 'mud map' of their house yard, representing buildings and features with shapes and lines from a bird's-eye-view. Today they translated these drawings into prints, building up layers and representing their home within a 'Western' perspective of the Australian landscape by overlaying their images onto old book pages.

02.01.2022 Day 2 update from the Summit Camp...the Duke of Ed students have challenged themselves, played all in and overall had a great time. Well done to everyone for the amazing teamwork shown.

01.01.2022 Rochester Secondary College has found a new and creative way to show off the school values thanks to its year nine design adventures class.
