25.01.2022 Pure Clydesdale winner

24.01.2022 WOW. What a show I’ve been a committee member of the Rochester A & P Association for 35 years and President on and off for about 8 or 9 of those and I believe ...this year we put on the best event hands down in that time. As most of you know due to a lack of manpower we have not held the Friday night carnival the last couple of years and it was missed by some and I had stated a number of times that I would love to see a sub committee of younger more energetic and enthusiastic people step up to reinvigorate it. During the year Brett Kyne put his hand up and said he thought he could make it happen and with the help of Grant Shawcross, Tim Watson, Jeff Broad and Kate Kyne and I’m sure many others went out and planned a great carnival having been told they basically had to fund it themselves they put in the effort to get great sponsorship to make it all happen and happen it certainly did the entertainment from the Ute and car show to the arena events to the trade stores to the fireworks was outstanding and I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews. AWESOME EFFORT GUYS. An important part of making the Friday night and indeed the whole show a success was to gain more support from the Showman’s Guild as rides and entertainment had waned dramatically over recent years which was a significant reason for the decision to cease the Friday night show so the acid was put on these guys to respond if they wanted the Friday night to become a permanent fixture again and respond they did with some great rides so huge thanks to them Also on Friday we had the judging of the home crafts and horticulture and although these aren’t really my forte I couldn’t help but be impressed by the quality and quantity of exhibits filling the whole shed and providing a great display. Every year a lot of effort goes into this section by Heather and Graeme Watson, Barry Bickley, Jeff & Keith Broad and helpers. Prior to and during the show a huge amount of effort is put in across all areas by Alan Wilson and Greg Laurie from setting up poultry and goat pens to measuring out trade space and making repairs etc Move on to Saturday and again it was a fantastic display. Dairy cattle numbers were good considering the season and feed costs our usual loyal supporters attended and thank you to Pat Nicholson and Trevor and Julie Campbell for running this section smoothly as always Beef Cattle were outstanding in both numbers and quality and we are fast becoming country Victoria’s premier beef show and it sounds like we are going to continue to grow, Faye Moon with the help of Brett & Debbie Young and others are to be commended on their efforts to grow this competition. Dog entries were again fantastic with marquees three deep around the judging ring and we are so lucky to have this section so well conducted by Kath Humphries every year. Maureen Leahy again had a nice little goat show and Fairlie Mcdonald even had a couple of sheep entries hopefully these may grow in future Fairlie and Beth Mcdonald Johnson again conducted their tiny tot and teenage competitions over both days and go to great efforts to source entrants Bob Holden and his helpers again had a nice display of Poultry thanks to all involved in this section also Two of our newer members Merryn Lourensz Murray and Tameaka Collins took on conducting the little kids entertainment on the main arena on Saturday which had been so well established in recent years by Kate Kyne and crew and did a fantastic job of providing a fun experience for heaps of little kids it was just a hive of activity when I visited. Merryn took responsibility for dealing with the press and organising our advertising and Tameaka and Grant along with our secretary Darlene Carlisle did an awesome job of promoting the show and our wonderful sponsors on social media something we have been a little slack on previously because without our amazing sponsors we could not continue I have already shared Nirrelle Somerville’s post as it says all that needs to be said about the horse show but I must add the huge effort she puts into attracting such fantastic sponsorship and in sourcing judges who are highly regarded and respected and bring out great entries as exhibitors appreciate greatly attending shows where they aren’t already a done deal and are in with a fair chance and a huge thank you to these judges for completing this mantra so successfully and we received many comments on our friendly Judges and Stewards from our competitors As Nirrelle said Teah Huon did a lot of the pre show work and her and Tameaka created a loop of all of our fantastic sponsors which scrolled continuously on the new big screen Helen Barker is just a legend for all she does often at last minute notice If Geoff & Trevor Elliott ever decide they want another career they could both find jobs as horse show announcers as we continually have feedback from our exhibitors about how good they are and it was a massive effort by Geoff only having a pacemaker fitted a week prior to the show. I know the horse judges and stewards loved the beautiful fresh sandwiches and fruit salad as I’m sure all sections did provided by Jan Bickley and Beryl Elliott and their tremendous team of ladies So many horse exhibitors comment on the beautiful surface on the Windridge Oval but the fact is the show committee owe a huge thank you to the rec reserve committee and the grounds men Peter Howe, Bill Dingwell and Brendon Martin these days our working bees pre show are almost unnecessary due to the great condition in which the reserve is maintained. To the people who helped Darlene,Heather,Faye and Deb man the show office in the week prior to the show Thank you Treasurer Deb Chancellor the precision in which you control and provide information and continually kept us updated on sponsorship payments etc was outstanding Thank you So again a HUGE THANK YOU TO all committee members, office bearers our secretary and volunteers ( to many to mention) But without all our Sponsors, Exhibitors and Patrons it would be a non event so thanks so much for attending and supporting the event. I’m sure this years success will be the impotence for us to continue to put on an even bigger and better show next year. I must mention one of our Life Members and committee stalwarts Lynne Bickley was unable to attend this year due to ill health we all wish you a speedy recovery. I’m sure I’ve forgotten someone or some section if so sorry Finally I don’t thing it is conceited to claim that we are truly one of the most successful shows in Country Victoria and I think everybody In the Rochester Community should feel PROUD of the event we conduct I saw numerous Facebook posts referring to it as the Rochester Royal due to the quality of competitions held. GREAT JOB EVERYONE

12.01.2022 Thalaba Ruby Dreaming Supreme ridden breed

11.01.2022 It's with a sad face and heavy heart, that we too, have succumbed to the Covid 19 Pandemic, and the Rochester Agricultural & Pastoral Show will be cancelled for 2021. After our wonderful show this year (some say the best ever) we hope to build on that Bigger & Better for 2022. Our main concern is you the public, so everyone stay safe and we will see you all in 2022.

06.01.2022 Fun for all ages in the kids corner

05.01.2022 What a day absolutely blessed with stunning weather, amazing green surface, and horses every where. Car park full and classes with 14 hacks, 9 little leading re...in ponies, big line up of off the track horses. I know people like to be home by 11 but it’s just not possible with so many horses in classes. I don’t know where to start thanking everyone our judges did a incredible job Britt Holmberg Sally Morphy Sandra Olney Linda Mcleod Filipa Marshall Will Lewin Sherrie Lee Robin Mills I have the best friends that help out to do a long day stewarding you guys are the best Trudi Jones what day you and Fil put in about the 3rd person there selling tickets then a mammoth effort with huge number in the pony club ring there literally to stumps. Robyn Anderson Arlene Meursing Natasha Collins Linda Leach Our PA boys Geoff and Trevor Elliot without doubt the best announces ever, they put up with so much from us crazy horse people. The ladies from Echuca And District adult riders Debbie Brady Wild for running the HRCAV ring. It was lovely to see Genevieve Brooms dad there today to present her memorial rug Chookie for the slices even thou she didn’t make the fav Licorice allsorts slice. Scott Somerville for all the work you have done prior and on the day, I don’t know where your apprentice sanitation engineer has gone Richard Marshall ? Helen Barker jack of all trades and totally indispensable. Teah Huon that has done so much with the computer work, packing ribbon boxes and doing a super job with the new big screen running sponsors names all day. Darlene Carlisle for answering all the questions and updating the Facebook page. The amazing people that sponsored and donated, this show would NOT be the success it is with out you. I think I would be pretty close to being correct we have a big turn out for a country show that I’m very proud of. Thanks to everyone that made the effort to support our show, please support your country shows and become involved so these great horse community’s events don’t fade into the distance. I don’t have many photos unfortunately I’m hoping someone got photos of our supremes ? See more
