24.01.2022 Developing emotional and social skills for children, young people and adults.

24.01.2022 Another trip to Tamworth finds us at Tamworth Youthie doing a three day closed workshop with Tamworth Family Support Service. Wonderful group of dedicated people who are interested in developing family resilience programs , working with local schools and also on small group or one on one settings. A closed workshop can be a great way to build a common approach throughout an organisation to the delivery of the Rock and Water program. The Youthie is a fantastic venue in West Tamworth .

23.01.2022 Happy NAIDOC Week! We acknowledge the Awabakal people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which our office resides, and pay respect to their Elders past, present and emerging. We extend that respect to the Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Rock and Water teachers and students. NAIDOC week can be a reminder to open our minds and open our hearts to continue learning and sharing about Australia's deep Indigenous history and cultural traditions. This year's theme is Heal Country; "Heal Country! calls for stronger measures to recognise, protect, and maintain all aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and heritage." - https://www.naidoc.org.au/get-involved/2021-theme

23.01.2022 Well, we have been quiet lately on the Rock and Water front since the current crisis meant we could not effectively conduct Rock and Water workshops. We have postponed all workshops for now but will contact you as we feel it is right to resume our training program. I hope that our trainers are keeping in touch with their students and reaching out to deliver some of the wonderful lessons of Rock and Water. In times like these, with families together so much more, there is in...creased demand on families to find their own strength as a family unit, to accomodate each other’s needs and importantly, to be able to play together. It is through constructive play that children develop so much of their social and emotional capacity. I hope to offer some online games and activities over the coming weeks in an effort to reach out to our Rock and a Water families in times when standing strong, breathing through anxiety, finding your centre of strength and certainty as well as your centre of calm are more important than ever. Meanwhile, here are some memories of our last two workshops held in Wollongong and Newcastle. I’ll be in touch soon with some online resources to help trainers and families continue to connect through Rock and Water. Take care Brian.

17.01.2022 Unfortunately due to COVID - 19 restrictions around PD and face to face training, Rock and Water open workshops are not able to go ahead for 2020. We are diligently working towards rescheduling workshops and bookings for 2021 in the hopes of keeping everyone booked in so that you all have an opportunity to complete your training. If your school would like to discuss closed workshops with your whole staff or organisation please send us an email to discuss. https://www.rockand...water.com.au/contact-us/ You can view all confirmed workshops here - www.rockandwater.com.au Despite this setback, we are excited about commencing workshops next year and are looking forward to introducing new faces & refreshing your memory if you've trained with us before. Lighthouse Education will be hosting 2 Day Primary and 3 Day Comprehensive workshops in NSW, ACT and TAS. We greatly appreciate your ongoing support of the Rock and Water program, see you in 2021

16.01.2022 Rock and Water has always had a strong following in Tasmania. Hobart College has now hosted the comprehensive training for a third year, this time with 33 participants coming from primary and high schools around Tasmania. The board break was particularly exciting as we moved into the student common area much to the delight of a number of surprised but delighted senior students. Our gratitude again to Kim White for her hospitality and assistance in getting the word out about this marvellous program that promotes resilience through a unique psychophysical approach.

03.01.2022 Freerk Ykema, the founder and author of the internationally renowned Rock and Water program, is conducting a three day workshop in Brisbane. The Australian master instructors are all in attendance to review and refresh after Freerk published new comprehensive and primary manuals this year. It is wonderful to witness this passionate and gentle teacher, and to remind myself of why I made this a life mission 20 years ago.

03.01.2022 Rock and water is a highly successful, evidence based international educational program. In Australia over 15,000 teachers, youth workers, chaplains and counsellors have received training since the program was introduced by Freerk Ykema in 1998.
