19.01.2022 The ROC Committee is pleased to announce that Daniel Rae and Gordon Costello are joint winners of our G & S Lyric competition! Both entries were very entertaining and extremely clever. The Committee was faced with a difficult decision and as a result decided that they should share first place!... Daniel’s song, There is a Virus is a parody of There lived a King from The Gondoliers and Gordon’s, The G & S fan’s lament uses If you want a receipt from Patience on which to base his reimagined lyric. In addition to sharing the small prize on offer, their songs will be performed at an upcoming ROC concert/cabaret, which we very much hope will be some time in 2021. Congratulations Daniel and Gordon!

14.01.2022 Don't forget to send us your entry to the 'Reimagining Operetta Competition" (ROC- get it?) Reimagine the lyrics of a G&S song, solo, duet, chorus, whatever......in any theme you like. You can do it on your own or with a friend. ... Multiple entries are permitted. There is a modest physical prize of some description however the REAL prize is the glory of having your efforts performed at Rockdale Opera Company's return concert! Due date: 6pm Friday 9 October, send to [email protected] Include: your new title and the original title, your name/s and contact details, your new lyrics, an audio recording or video accompanied or unaccompanied. If that’s too difficult to organise, lyrics alone will be welcome to put up online to give everyone a laugh; however the entry would not be eligible for the competition.
