24.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart the news that has come through over the weekend. Sadly Peter Bartlett has passed away. Peter was a huge influence when it came to running on the Cap coast and in Rockhampton. On behalf of Parkrun Rockhampton we send our love and support to Cara, family and friends. ... To honour his memory, if you are attending the Australia Day fun run at Yeppoon tomorrow, please wear a black arm band.

23.01.2022 They say running in the rain is fun and Louise can attest to that last week. The forecast is looking a bit damp for tomorrow and we have been given the go ahead from parkrun HQ to proceed so for those who are keen to try out the new course in the morning we will be there. If you wish to pre Covid check in here is the link ..... https://www.parkrun.com/trace/n7t Ian D

20.01.2022 Todays parkrun in the rain

20.01.2022 Parkies, A quick update on Rockhampton parkrun re opening as I have had a number of questions and queries come in during the week. It’s been a week since parkrun Australia and the QLD Govt/Health came to an agreement that allowed parkruns across QLD to look at restarting on Sat 28th November. From there each individual parkrun across QLD had a set number of mandatory items that we had to submit to allow us to restart. At at this afternoon we have submitted and got sign off fr...om HQ on the majority of those items. I am very confident next week that I will be able to advertise for volunteers to start filling the Roster for our restart on Sat 28th Nov. Stay tuned for a few more post updates next week. Excited and looking forward to our return soon .. Ian D See more

20.01.2022 Don’t forget to sign in for contact tracing if you are planning on attending this Saturday. There will also be QR code’s on the day but the more people that sign in before, the better.

19.01.2022 Although we have been back a few months now, we still need to observe a few Covid Safe rules one being checking in each week with the QR code. You do do that ahead of time via the link below or scan in on the day with your smart phone https://www.parkrun.com/trace/n7t... See you all on Saturday ... Ian D

14.01.2022 HUGE news parkies ... Following extensive discussions with the Queensland Department of Sport and Recreation, we have approval to reopen all 107 parkrun and junior parkrun events in Queensland on 28 November. When events reopen in Queensland they will each be required to display a unique QR code for contact tracing purposes and we will be strongly encouraging all participants to sign in. This system currently exists for parkruns in New Zealand and the ACT and is working effec...tively. Stay tuned for more news in the coming weeks ... I’m excited Ian D

12.01.2022 Well what a great morning it was today to welcome back parkrun into the community again with 265 participants enjoying the surrounding of the beautiful Botanical Gardens. Apart from celebrating our return, today we had a number of great milestones to celebrate that were 8 months in the waiting. Congratulations to Sue Deakin and Dominic Fletcher for their 150. Congratulations to Andrea Chapman, Tobias Lane and Paul Wiltshire for their 100. Also congrats to Graham Olive and Luk...e Rogers (sorry I missed announcing it) for their 50th parkruns today. We also had visitors from Weymouth (UK), Toowoomba, Hervey Bay, Gladstone amd Bargara. 19 first timers attended today that did their very first parkrun hope they are now hooked into the parkrun family. Many thanks to all the volunteers today as well much appreciated as without you we don’t have any parkrun. I hope everyone enjoyed the return to parkrun today and we will see you all again next week. 12.01.2022 Rockhampton parkrun - Event number 239 This week 68 crazy people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 4 were first timers and 1 recorded new Personal Bests. That is the second week in a row the Weather gods have been kind to us with a big storm just moving thought only minutes before the 7am start. Even with rain and storms about we still had a visitor from The Terrace parkrun in Newcastle and another visitor from Airlie Beach parkrun. Hats off to the 4 newbies who did... their very first parkrun today as well, still astounds me when they turn up in conditions like we had. Congratulations to David French on his 150th parkrun today well done. The event was made possible by 5 volunteers: Karen ARNOLD Suellen COOMBE Mark COOMBE Ian DUNBIER Karen WALLACE. Suellen Coombe will be your Run Director next week and hoping for some more favourable conditions after the last few weeks of wet weather. Ian D See more

03.01.2022 Something to keep you motivated and active in the local area if you were not aware ..

02.01.2022 Rockhampton parkrun Event #238 This week 92 hearty soles ran, jogged, walked and jumped puddles at a damp Rocky Botanical Gardens, of whom 3 were first timers (amazing to have newbies do their first parkrun in the conditions) and 13 recorded new Personal Bests. We had visitors from Cairns, Wagi Bridge (Canberra), Mudjimba Beach & Kawana (Sunshine Coast), Emerald, Launceston & Central Lakes (Caboolture) parkruns. Congratulations go to Bruce Manly and Marc QLDer McGrath who ...both did their 150th parkruns today. The event was made possible by 15 volunteers who mainly were from the University of QLD Rural Clinical School. Donna CAMPBELL Karen ARNOLD J Kerree GREEN Rhonda HANSEN Tony CLARK Ian DUNBIER Helen WILTSHIRE Paul WILTSHIRE Coleen LAU Jason LIN Keely LYNCH David NEILSON Matthew KHONG Hayden JIANG Nuwan DAHANAYAKE I have to say the feedback I got all round from the volunteers and participants is that it was one of the most fun and enjoyable parkruns we have had to date with people enjoying running in the rain. Quote of the day doesn't go to Marc McGrath for his boisterous QUEENSLANDER, instead im giving it to Ashleigh Clark with I have water in my eyes, I can't see, it's stinging For all those who are competing at the Gold Coast Marathon event next weekend we wish you all well and a great run. See you all next week and go the Blues Sunday nite Ian D

01.01.2022 Great news that the direction for parkrun has changed to a state by state opening now for Australia. Getting closer now but still so far away for us.
