25.01.2022 GRAND FINAL DATES 2020. Please note dates for this season's Grand Finals for all RTA competitions. Mixed will play round games through to 26th Oct with all teams participating in GF (exceptions being bottom teams where uneven numbers in div). Super Series play round games to 12th Oct, Semis on 19th and Prelims on 26th. Mens and Ladies play their last round games on 14th Oct, Semis on 21st and Prelims on 28th.... Masters mens have a varied formula with the A grade playing rounds to 14th, Semis on 21st, Prelim on 28th; B and C grade Masters will play rounds through to 28th October. DATES Mixed - Monday 2nd November. Super Series - Monday 2nd November Mens, Ladies and Masters - Saturday 31st October Friday Juniors - Friday 20th November Saturday Juniors - Saturday 21st November. There will be the usual trophy presentations and free sausages on bread at all Grand Finals.

23.01.2022 It seems like we are constantly asking for help - and our wonderful touch community never lets us down. Next Saturday is our junior Grand Final and anyone who has ever been involved knows what a terrific morning GF is - with games, presentations, trophies, medals, free sausages on bread, iceblocks and watermelon and this year will be no different. With around 2,000 sausages to cook and serve, and plenty of watermelons to cut up, we are calling for helpers and this year, we wo...uld like to appeal to members of our senior ranks, many of whom have come up through our juniors, to give a couple of hours on Saturday morning so that parents can relax and enjoy their children’s games and presentations. 19.01.2022 Rocky Touch is again appealing to our members to donate non-perishable food items or unwrapped gifts towards Anglicare’s Christmas appeal. Job losses due to the current pandemic has added even more strain on Anglicare and other agencies in their quest to help struggling families have some semblance of a normal Christmas. With only two junior fixtures left, we ask that those who can help, just give what you can. You can drop off donations of food items or unwrapped gifts to the admin area or to the office any day during the week. We can help put a smile on the faces of families down on their luck.

16.01.2022 Important announcement.......,. We have been notified that a young boy playing in the U10s on the weekend has Chickenpox. His rash appeared later on Saturday and parents thought it was from the heat. But overnight it became obvious it was Chickenpox and he did not attend on Sunday. Chickenpox is a virus that, in children usually causes a relatively mild illness but in adults and immunosuppressive people, can be severe. The most common symptom is an itchy, blister-like rash b...ut there are also other varied symptoms so please seek medical advice. We apologise for any consequences that may occur and sincerely hope everyone stays safe. We spent weeks working on measures to minimise the spread of another virus so it is our hope these measures will work as well for this one. This unfortunately puts a downer on an otherwise extremely successful weekend but we wish the boy well for a quick recovery.

14.01.2022 Last weekend, Rocky Touch took 4 teams to the Qld State Cup in Coomera, Gold Coast - Open Men, U20 Men, U20 Women and O/40 Men. All teams performed well with U20M and U20W both going down to Townsville teams in their Quarter Finals (U20M in a tight drop off) and O40M winning 4 of their 7 games. Rockhampton Open Men were again crowned CHAMPIONS in the Mens Open Premier division with a win over Redlands in the Grand Final 7 tries to 5.... Apart from the round 4 game against Palm Beach which Rocky won 10 to 2, the games were fiercely competitive with close scores. Rocky's scrappiest game was in the rounds against BMTA where an unusual amount of mistakes saw the game result in a 5 all draw. The boys got their act together though and smacked BMTA 8 - 5 in the semi finals. The Grand Final against Redlands was absurdly fast paced and a fantastic show piece for Touch here in Queensland. Congratulations to Damon Moore who was named Player of the Final. A huge congratulations to all 16 players and to coach, Gary Benbow and managers, Sandi and Pete O'Brien. These men made a total commitment and trained extremely hard to maintain a standard they all set some years ago. Some of them are often criticised for being arrogant but when someone is highly successful and at the top of their game; when they are the ones who have set that ridiculously high bar; the ones everyone is itching to knock off, you could say they may have earned the right to a degree of arrogance. For most of our players though, its not arrogance but pure confidence - confident in the certainty that they have worked hard individually and as a team; have done everything possible to leave nothing to chance; left no stone unturned (as they say). They are a hard working, skillful unit who will do anything for each other - and it showed! They are extremely exciting to watch and an absolute pleasure to deal with. Rocky Touch is very proud of this group of young men. A MASSIVE thank you must go to our sports physio, Andrew Lack who worked tirelessly over the three days to keep most of our players on the field. Andrew's efforts are tremendously appreciated. Thank you to our wonderful coaches, Gary Benbow, Gavin Shuker, Tracy Upton and Grant Williams and our team managers, Sandi and Pete O'Brien, Dave Huggers and Neale Crow. A special mention to QTF and Rachael Stacey for working through extremely difficult (COVID) conditions to put on a safe and enjoyable event - well done!!!

11.01.2022 Rocky Touch would like to congratulate RILEY GLEICH on his selection into the Queensland Referee's JETS program (Junior Elite Talent Squad). Riley will start in the program in 2021 at the Qld Youth Academy with other developing elite referees and players. Riley's talent in the refereeing stream was apparent at his first state outing when he refereed U10s for Rocky Touch at the Junior State Cup. He was awarded the Grand Final of the U10 Boys division and did an outstanding j...ob. Any of our high level referees will know that finals are awarded to those who perform very well at that particular event. Being well mannered, confident, even tempered and not easily phased, Riley displays the perfect demeanor in his role as a referee. He sets a good example for any of our juniors who may not make "Red" teams and would like to explore an alternative elite pathway into the future. Rocky Touch currently has at least 7 level 4, 5 and 6 referees. We look forward to seeing Riley represent Rocky at future state and national tournaments as a top level referee.

10.01.2022 Council aerated the fields this week and we have someone there today spreading fertiliser. Extra watering has been organised to maximize the process so the grounds will be quite wet. To protect them from further damage, strictly NO training on top fields.

05.01.2022 Traces of COVID have been discovered in the waste treatment here in Rocky and Qld Health are not sure what that means. It could be that there are carriers who have no symptoms. This is why we need to continue being vigilant to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe- continue washing hands thoroughly, always cough and sneeze into elbows, stay 1.5m apart and most importantly, get tested if you develop symptoms. The extra effort it takes to follow safety measures are well worth it.
