20.01.2022 Some of the Heavy Fabrication work we can achieve, this job shows multirun passes using 19mm fillet welds.

20.01.2022 Rockpress recently partnered with Steendyk on their "Bellbird Retreat" building project which has since won 2 x international awards and 1 x national award. Architecture Masterprize 2018 Winner- architectural design / residential design... World Architecture News awards 2018 small spaces category winner with a steep category that included Rem Koolhaas / OMAs Melbourne Mpavillion. Australian Steel Institute 2018 national award winner for the small project category (only open to entries bi-annually).

20.01.2022 Check out these Copper Brackets cut on our Fibre Laser machine. Note the level of accuracy, the precise clean cuts and the minimal heat affected zone. By using our nesting software we were also able to greatly minimise the amount of wastage.

19.01.2022 In 2015 the Waltzing Matilda Centre in Winton was destroyed by fire and in 2018 has only just reopened to the public. It is the first museum in the world dedicated to music and Rockpress was proud to be able to create these custom music note inspired lights for the centre.

18.01.2022 A huge Congratulations to Marcel who successfully completed his Fitting and Turning apprenticeship with Osmac. Marcel will stay on with his Host employer Rockpress as a tradesman in the Machine Shop.

18.01.2022 Thanks to Triple M Brisbane for shouting us morning tea today!

17.01.2022 In October this year Rockpress will take delivery of a state-of-the-art TRUMPF Inc. TruLaser 3030 6kW Fibre Laser with RotoLas tube cutting attachment. This machine uses an optical cable as opposed to the traditional CO2 Lasers. The 3030 will enable us to cut Copper and Brass and has a superior cutting quality and speed, in particular on lighter gauges. Another major advantage this machine has is in the cutting of Aluminium, the conventional CO2 lasers will generally leave dross (in particular on heavy gauges) on the cut edge which requires secondary work to remove. This new fibre laser will enable us to cut up to 25mm thick Aluminium with no secondary work required.

17.01.2022 Congratulations to Adrian Bicol on completing his apprenticeship through All Trades Queensland whilst working at Rockpress

15.01.2022 There’s something in the language of this classic Australian greeting that just says local you know where you are, you know you’re one of us and we’re with you. It’s a pat on the back, a helping hand, a knowing smile, a she’ll be right, mate thing. And in these interesting times, being local is more important and carries greater significance than ever before. It’s times like this when we all come to realise how much we rely on each other.... We'll give it a burl. It’s that great can do attitude we’re renowned for. Whether it’s having a crack at a first-time project or getting the job done right, on budget and on time, that’s us! But we’ll do more than give it a red-hot go. We’ll knock it over the bloody fence for six. Why? How? We reckon it might have something to do with our 100 or so trade-skilled people, our 13,700m2 of factory floor space that’s chockers with state-of-the art metal fabrication machinery, our ability to take your task from concept to a silky finishand our 48-year ode to Aussie innovation finding the best way to give you the best work. Strewth! Yep, we can do just about anything and everything metal at Rockpress precision laser cutting and punching, bending and forming, turning and machining, fabricating (including certified pressure welding) and finishing. Whatever sort of metal job you’re after big, small, a lot or a few fair dinkum, we’ve got you covered. You Beaut (let’s do it). We've been the steel and sparks behind local industry for 48 years; from mining to heavy transport, commercial and community work, hospitality and marine, right through to high-end architectural installations. So if you need metal fabrication work, put a proven Aussie local team at the top of your list. Local: it means confidence, assurance, trust and real value. Offshore might be a bit cheaper in the short-term, but when you need a real challenge solved or follow-up help, bet they'll do the Harold Holt. Physical distancing might mean we work a bit differently, but we're still open for business as usual with great service and great craftsmanship. We're ready to roll when you are, bloody oath!

12.01.2022 Quality of Product and Traceability Theres something special about receiving an item or gift that is well made and has attention to detail at its core. When that item has been made to the highest quality and is locally manufactured, you also get a level of traceability for the components, packaging and delivery that many overseas made items keep hidden from view. Understanding the supply chain and keeping it accountable for its sustainability aspects also adds to the workman...ship and quality of the product and embedded manufacturing footprint. The quality of the product isnt just about how it is made but also how long it lasts and its ability to do the job it was made to do. More importantly, if we buy Australian made, we keep Aussies in jobs!!

06.01.2022 There is no doubt that we are all facing some challenges that the majority of us would not have experienced in our lives. It is sobering to see some of the footage from 1918 with the outbreak of the Spanish Flu and in more recent times when some countries experienced SARS in 2002. Rockpress is committed to the health & safety of our workers, customers & suppliers and in doing so has introduced a number of measures across the business. We are constantly monitoring the healt...h of all workers and encouraging them to practice Social distancing and good hygiene habits. We have increased the number of sanitising stations throughout the business for easy access to all workers Set up a separate office onsite to ensure that we follow social distancing policy Limiting indoor face to face meetings and reduce the need for workers to move from shed to shed Keeping all workers informed with correct and up to date information provided on health.gov.au These are just some of the measures that we have introduced as Rockpress is committed to keeping our doors open to assist our Customers to continue with their business operations. While we have orders we will continue to purchase from our Suppliers. We believe that by remaining an active part of the Supplier chain that we are doing our part in helping an already stretched economy. We are encouraging our Customers and Suppliers to contact us via phone or email to limit face to face interactions but our Despatch remains open for the collection of your order. During this time we have reduced our Office and Despatch hours to be as follows:- Monday Thursday 7am 3.30pm Friday 7am 1pm If you have any needs or requirements outside of these times, please do not hesitate to contact us.
