25.01.2022 Described to us as an "unfriendly looking plant". Castor oil plant (Ricinus communis). Fun facts:... Native to Africa and Asia, declared an invasive weed in Australia. When ripened the fruit explode violently, spreading seeds over several meters. Castor oil plant seeds contain ricin, one of the most toxic substances known. Ingestion of seeds may cause life threatening poisoning to both animals and humans. Respiratory and eye irritation may result from close proximity to this plant, especially when the flowers are in bloom.
