08.01.2022 UPDATE on the Mutton Bird (Yolla or Short Tailed Shearwater) migration this year Numbers of breeding pairs are down. Eggs are usually laid on 26 Nov, and an egg count (census) taken in December. So, this month will tell how many breeding pairs have made it though this year's potentially disastrous migration. Mutton Birds (traditionally known as Yolla) have been part of human traditions and a healthy diet for thousands of years in this part of the world. Meanwhile, we're continuing to make our new performance collaboration with Aunty Patsy Cameron, Biz Adams and Lisa Kennedy on these remarkable little birds...
