24.01.2022 Think for a moment How do you feel when you put time, effort and energy into something, only to be rewarded with a disappointing outcome?... If you’re anything like me, then there’s certainly those feelings of disappointment and deflation at not getting the reward you were after. But I also think there’s a couple of other things at play here too. Watch this week’s video to discover what they are. https://www.gradetransformation.com.au//why-your-teen-mig/
22.01.2022 If you’ve worked with me or been in my VIP community for even a short amount of time, then you’ll know I go on and on (and I make ZERO apologies for this!) about the importance of being able to dissect the wording of any task or exam question and the ability to know exactly what it’s asking. ~ In particular, doing this by mastering command words. Because this is one of the key issues holding so many students back AND it’s a key breakthrough to being able to tackle any ques...tion or task with confidence and clarity. Let me explain why https://www.gradetransformation.com.au//one-skill-huge-be/ See more
21.01.2022 Does your teen love to have open choice on what to do in an assignment? Or do they prefer to have guidelines and direction? Truth is, every student should make decisions STRATEGICALLY on what topic to pick when there’s a choice of any sort.... If they want to give themselves the best chance of a great result AND complete it in the smoothest and most efficient way, then here’s my advice to REAL students with REAL questions around exactly these dilemmas in our live group coaching calls. https://www.gradetransformation.com.au//real-coaching-how/
16.01.2022 We are all told so often these days: Just be yourself, do things how YOU want to do them. But for students, when it comes to their writing style in assessments, they need to do the exact OPPOSITE if they want to achieve their best possible marks. Discover why I struggled with this myself as a student and why students need to be okay with feeling like a ‘fake’!... https://www.gradetransformation.com.au/techniques-strate//
15.01.2022 THIS is the misconception responsible for so many students not achieving their true potential when it comes to exams. >> *Exams are NOT just testing students' subject knowledge* << That's why, JUST focusing on learning and memorising more and more info won't guarantee success. (And it's why students who don't necessarily work as hard, can still do great in exams!) https://www.gradetransformation.com.au//exams-are-not-jus/
14.01.2022 Maths questions are sometimes super-straightforward, like 'Solve this equation'. But, they can also can be a lot more complex and tricky, with layers of info and worded requirements. ... And it's often these worded parts of maths questions that trip students up or catch them out. It’s also where there are often some simple yet overlooked extra steps or hints on getting full marks. So, this week, I'm sharing an exam-tips blog-vid-bonanza *hands-on-knees-drumroll* The 4 most common ways students lose out on easy marks in Maths exams... and of course specific actions and advice on how to make sure your teen DOESN’T lose 'em https://www.gradetransformation.com.au//4-most-common-mat/
13.01.2022 *Sneaky trick: essays and assignments* >>> Sometimes it can be really hard for students to get started on a larger task an essay, a report, an extended response. They aren’t sure exactly what to write or how to begin. >>> These tasks usually start with an Introduction....And you know what?... That's the problem (and easy fix!). Watch this week's video to find out this sneaky trick to make extended tasks smoother - that works every time! https://www.gradetransformation.com.au//write-the-intro-l/ See more
09.01.2022 Can’t wait to wear these on the next student coaching calls Which one first? Discipline: Doing something necessary or for a positive outcome, even when you don’t want to. Resilient people: Detect the cause of their problems, keep calm in stressful situations, recover well after setbacks.

08.01.2022 So, what’s the deal with leaving exam answers blank? Can you ever have marks taken off? What should you do instead of leaving an answer blank? Here are all the answers https://www.gradetransformation.com.au//can-marks-ever-be/
08.01.2022 When it comes down to it, there's ONE mark difference between grade boundaries. Just ONE mark can make the difference between a D and C grade, ONE mark between a B and an A grade. Therefore ONE word can make the difference between a grade, as ONE word in an answer can mean getting or losing a mark. And this is why I’m a firm believer in ‘every little helps’. ... Check out this week's video to find out how one little tip, one strategy, one minute of revision of one fact that’s asked in an exam, can make a whole grade’s difference. https://www.gradetransformation.com.au//small-actions-big/ See more
06.01.2022 The 5 Day Inner Circle for Parents of Hard-Working Teens is OPEN Together, over 5 days we'll be: :: Crushing some of the biggest illusions parents, students (and heck, even I - until my fourth year of teaching!) believe, that are keeping them STUCK. (Like where students should and shouldn't be putting their effort and time for max reward).... :: Highlighting the biggest mistakes I'm seeing the most dedicated students making right now (and the simple fixes). :: Discovering a fast and stress-free way you can help your teen succeed without having to be an ATAR expert or speed-reading the latest English novel in 2 days flat. And SO much more. https://www.gradetransformation.com/innercircle
06.01.2022 Acknowledging progress isn't always easy. ~ I've definitely had days where I felt like things weren't coming together fast enough. ~... I can count more than one just in the last couple of months whilst planning and producing everything for today's Exam Mastery Workshop. Now, I've certainly honed and optimised the process over the years, but STILL, I've needed to give myself a few positive reminders and boosts along the way. (I'm only human) ;) ~ Here's how your teen can acknowledge their progress and ensure they don't get disheartened whenever they're working hard, but feel like things aren't happening fast enough, or they're not getting enough done. https://www.gradetransformation.com.au//how-to-feel-a-sen/ See more
04.01.2022 What’s the ULTIMATE skill in nailing exams? I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently, as we get into exam season, and I’ve come up with what is, officially, my favourite exam skill that I think gives biggest bang for buck. It's very specific and covers thee of the six elements of exam technique.... Watch the video (or scroll down for the written version) to find out what it is and how your teen can get it! https://www.gradetransformation.com.au//the-ulitmate-skil/
03.01.2022 It’s long been accepted in education that ‘teaching to the test’ is NOT the most effective way to great grades. Plus it’s also not really possible these days. Exams and the curriculum are designed so that it just doesn’t work. ... And this is a *good* thing as it means students have to be taught in a more holistic way and are required to actually understand the content, rather than learn and rehearse it parrot fashion (like so many of us used to do!). Memory flashback happening right now reciting and memorising German verb tables arrrrgh!!! But that doesn’t mean that students can’t prep and practice for tests and exams. There’s a much more useful and transferable skill and process: ‘TRAINING for the Test’. https://www.gradetransformation.com.au/techniques-strate//
01.01.2022 If you wish your teen could’ve mastered their exam technique and learnt how to revise strategically months or even years ago, does that mean that they can’t benefit from the opportunity to grab these skills right now? >>> Is ‘late’ better than never?... https://www.gradetransformation.com.au//the-second-best-t/ See more
