21.01.2022 Ultimately, warming up isnt complicated. Prep every part of the body, while keeping your heart rate up for 10 - 15 minutes. It doesnt need to complicated, but it should be specific. Blog to come.

19.01.2022 Saw a video of @anna.davey doing these curls. Added them to my workouts. Havent stopped prescribing it for patients ever since. Easy to do. Not too stressful on the elbow. Little bit more hand and finger-centric than traditional curls. Delicious.

13.01.2022 In caffeine we trust. A few important notes on the beverage we love most. 1. Keep it away from meals. Coffee and black tea will strip important nutrients from the food you consume (iron, zinc etc.) so give yourself an hour either side. 2. Caffeine solubility levels are dictated by a combination of heat and time. Make your drink choice accordingly. And most importantly..... 3. Life is too short for lousy coffees. Dont chump it up.
12.01.2022 Unless you feel AMAZING! (Even then it’s dubious) If you haven’t trained power, or one arms, or weighted repeaters, or WHATEVER for a while, you should never jump straight back onto your last performance. Look at the weight you were using 3 - 4 weeks prior to your last set and base your intensity from that, COMBINED with how you feel on the day. Put your ego in the bin and trust in the process - Jack Maltby talking to himself today. I jumped back into weighted repeaters after a 4 week block of 1 arm 10s maxing; I kind’ve felt like poop, and yet, my stupid (and massive) ego kept telling me that I can do more. My ego is a dreamer. But I resisted the urge, and trained to my week 2 weights from my last block. I feel pumped, but not sore. Your ego wants you to train harder now, but it doesn’t care about how you train later.

05.01.2022 I use and recommend very few supplements, especially when it comes to increasing performance since alterations in diet, lifestyle and training are usually key. However, after reading a number of articles and listening to a few key podcasts, particularly the work of Dr. Andy Galpin from the states, I became interested in cycling creatine back into my routine. The gist of it is this; creatine sits within skeletal muscle tissue and increases the rate of recovery and relaxation, ...particularly with power based training ie. bouldering. Train harder, for longer, and recover faster; win. My own personal use has seemingly granted an increase in my strength without any other changes to diet and lifestyle. The other cool part of creatine is that it shows a lot of promise with managing neurological issues, particularly brain ageing and depression. Long story short, I think creatine is great and am yet to come across a negative beyond carrying a little extra water. See more
