25.01.2022 With all the bad news at the moment here's a good news story which was from 1999. It bobbed up on Melbourne radio last week and there's been a few new online articles written as well. Bill Morgan played a few games in our Reserves in the early 90's. It's what happened a few years later that has made him famous around the world. This is a great story about a fella who was down and out then all of a sudden his luck changed for the best. https://www.dailymail.co.uk//Lotto-win...ner-Bill-Morgan-won- https://www.inspiremore.com/bill-morgan-luckiest-man/ https://junkee.com/bill-morgan-scratchie/266014 ROC - Officer Senior Football Club

22.01.2022 Some of the post game celebrations from the Senior game.

21.01.2022 Congratulations to Callum Porter who will make his AFL debut tomorrow (Thursday) night for the Western Bulldogs against Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium. He will be wearing the number 28 (like his father Geoff did for 217 ROC games) and Callum joins Grandfather Rob (Haw 1962) as Officer's fourth VFL/AFL player. Get yourself in front of Foxtel or Kayo (it's not on Ch7), the game kicks off at 7:40pm. Best of luck Callum - from all the ROC Past Players & Officials.

21.01.2022 With permission from Fay and the McCoubrie family we have been asked to post this message. Robin wants to let the ROC football and netball club family with whom he has been associated with for more than sixty years know about his current health situation - which has become terminal. Please click the link below to head to a video that has been put together by sons Gary and Andrew outlining Robins condition which has become terminal.... Because of COVID visiting restrictions and that his health is deteriorating, it makes it impossible for friends, extended family and acquaintances to come and visit him in person. Robin would like to hear from you, so if you would like to leave a message below this post, send an email or even do a short video you can do so - all the details on how to get it to him can be found once you click the link below. https://rocpastplayers.wixsite.com/home/special-page For those of you that don't know Robin well, he has been involved with the football club since he played his first senior game as a skinny sixteen year old in the mid 1960's and along the way collected a couple of senior Best and Fairests. Robin has served for twelve years as Club Treasurer in a few stints plus he spent many more years on the committee, as a team manager, league delegate and still helps out selling highest and lowest tickets. A genuine all round sportsman, Robin played cricket for Officer across many seasons playing in several premiership teams and can boast a 9 for (plus he threw down the stumps down for the run out). All the ROC past players and officials wish Robin, Fay, Gary, Andrew and the entire extended family well during a very difficult time.

18.01.2022 It is with much sadness that we advise of the passing of Rythdale-Cardinia and Rythdale-Officer-Cardinia (ROC) past player, William (Bill) Toner on 23 December, aged 68. Bill came to Rythdale-Cardinia from Hampton Park following his brother Wayne to the club (who was a RC FC B&F in 1968 & 1973 himself). Bill played his footy in both the seniors and reserves, being tall and solidly built, he played mostly in the ruck and full forward. He was the West Gippsland FL Treloar Meda...list (Reserves B&F) in 1982 and backed up with the League Leading Goal kicking award in 1983 booting 67 goals. In both '82 & '83 Bill won the club's Best & Fairest. Bill was a part of ROC's first open age premiership in 1983. Over the last two years Bill had been busy contacting the entire list from 1983 to organise the first ever reunion of that reserves flag. We will ensure that the event happens in 2021 in his honor. In the mid to late 80’s Bill went across to Cora Lynn where he went on to play and coach at the Cobras. Bill played many years of cricket at Cardinia which included being a member of a premiership team in the 1985-86 season with some of his footy team-mates in Dave Webster, Gary Quinlan, Trevor Hobson, Chris Gunton, Peter Webster, Paul Redpath, Mick West and Peter and Stephen Van Steensel. Our deepest and sincerest condolences go to Bill's wife Pauline and the entire Toner family. A funeral will be held for Bill on 31 December, 12 noon at Bunurong Memorial Park, 790 Frankston-Dandenong Rd Dandenong South. RIP Bill Toner. 16.01.2022 Happy 50th Birthday today to Scott "Chainsaw" Moresco. Scotty crossed over from Pakenham to ROC in the early 90's and played a major part in the '94 and '95 Reserves flags. Hope you have a great day Chainsaw and we couldn't resist posting one of our all time faves of you just after the '95 GF.

06.01.2022 It's with much sadness that we let our ROC Past Players & Officials know of the unexpected passing of Ian Campbell earlier this week aged 61. "Cambo" came to ROC in the early 90's from Cranbourne and was an assistant coach with our Under 17's bringing son Rick along with players like Brad Tesso, Justin Berry, Daniel McLean (Rocca) Luke Rus and later on Clint Setford. Cambo sat on the bench for Foggars in the late nineties and followed him to Cranbourne when Mick went there t...o coach in 2001. Not only involved in footy, Cambo was also involved at the Cardinia Cricket Club where he played for many years. Our deepest and sincerest condolences go to wife Karen children Rick, Daniel, Lisa, Nicole, Jamie, Samantha and the entire Campbell family. 06.01.2022 A fantastic article by Russell Bennett from the Pakenham Gazette.

06.01.2022 The funeral service for Robin McCoubrie will be held on Friday 11 December at the Cardinia Cultural Centre Pakenham commencing 10:30am. All welcome. Fay, Gary and Andrew have asked that at the completion of the service, if any Rythdale-Cardinia, Officer or ROC Football Netball Club Life Member, past or current player and official in attendance could help form a guard of honour for Robin out the front of the Cultural Centre it would be appreciated. Information on the David W ...Bull website is below: https://www.davidwbull.com.au/funera/robin-garry-mccoubrie/

06.01.2022 A viewer sent this in tonight. ROC Player pictured is Craig Crackers Eagleton.

05.01.2022 We were very amused to find that this has appeared on the newly reconstructed Western Oval fence at Starling Rd. It appears a person with a good memory or maybe a love interest has gone to some lengths to conduct some hero worshiping. Now a West Gippsland FL Rookie of the Month nomination in 1990 is a very good achievement, however not sure whether it deserves an entire end of the oval to be named after you like Lockett and Dunstall. I would have thought some other ROC past p...layers may have felt the old wing would have been named after them first? Jason Hoghton Kable Dowsett Callum White See more

02.01.2022 The ROC Past Players & Officials Annual "Blue Jacket Classic" was held last Sunday at the Deep Creek GC. In our largest turn out ever, the weather was superb and there was plenty of champagne golf on display. It was great to see a mix of current day players (including coaches Koopy & Billy), some "new" past players and friends. The 2020 winner was Troy Hasham Weidner - "Hashy" who is now the first two time winner of the jacket. Looking more like Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top, ...Hashy played well and bought home the chocolates including the Don Beard Memorial Trophy and Shield. Second was Gary "Wildman" McCoubrie (last years winner) and third Brad Lord. The Dave Lawler "No Impact" NAGA this year went to Rohan Marra. We will look to get the schedule back on track for 2021 and will have our next Blue Jacket Classic back in it's regular time slot of Feb/March 2021. See more

01.01.2022 West Gippsland FL Grand Final 1995: Reserves game day pics.

01.01.2022 Today, 16 September 2020 marks a significant anniversary in the Rythdale-Officer-Cardinia (ROC) Football and Netball Club's history. It was this day twenty five years ago, the Club was able to win its maiden first eighteen premiership defeating Beaconsfield by 51 points (21.12 138 to 13.9 87) at the "home" of football in West Gippsland - Cora Lynn. After being bridesmaid to Garfield in 1993 and 1994, this win was well and truly deserved led by playing coach Mick Fogarty. It ...was a huge day all round for the small town as the Reserves went back to back (winning by one point over Beaconsfield), the A Grade netballers came from 7 goals down in the last quarter with four minutes to play to defeat Tooradin. Unfortunately the B Grade girls were runners up to Tooradin). The town of Officer "ROCked" that Saturday night with celebrations continuing through the week and long after. An event was planned for this year, however instead over the next week or so we will post various pictures from the day/weekend and we encourage anyone around in the day to post their memories and photos of the time.
