12.01.2022 DROOPY UPPER EYELID Ptosis is common with aging, although it may be congenital or neurological. It is often bilateral. Symptoms include strain, headache, difficulty keeping eyes open when tired or reading. Signs include frontalis muscle overaction, eyelids within 2mm of pupil centre and chin up position if severe. Repair is done in day surgery under local anaesthetic with intravenous sedation. Surgery is bilateral when required, levators are advanced and reattached to the tarsi. With the patient awake eyelid height can be adjusted at surgery.

03.01.2022 Eye contact is an important part of communication between individuals. Aging of the eyelids and eyebrows can make one look and feel tired and old, and can block parts of the vision. Constant active lifting of the brows can cause strain and headache. Endoscopic Brow Lift is an operation performed through small cuts behind the hairline. This gives access to endoscopes and micro instruments under the forehead skin to mobilise and lift the brow into position using Fibrin Sealant. The scars are hidden in the hair. This operation is done in day surgery under general anaesthetic and can be combined with blepharoplasty and ptosis repair.
