18.01.2022 5 April 2020 - Daylight saving time ends that means it's time to change your clock and did you know also your smoke alarm battery! Every year, generally at the end of the daylight saving period, it is strongly recommended that you replace the batteries in all smoke alarms located in your home. Remember all smoke alarms need to be replaced after 10 years.... If you are a landlord don't forget it is your responsibility to install smoke alarms and also see to their ongoing maintenance. Tenants are required to test the smoke alarms to make sure they are working. You should also contact your agent / landlord if your smoke alarms are not working or if your smoke alarms are creating a chirping noise as this can mean the battery or smoke alarm is faulty. Smoke alarms save lives but not if the battery is flat. A working smoke alarm will give you an early warning and time to escape a fire.
