17.01.2022 We were fortunate to have training today provided by Lifeline in relation to crisis communication skills. In our industry we are often faced with difficult situations and distressed people. Recognising signs, understanding and effective communication is so important. This course provided some fantastic resources and strategies but also reminded us of the importance of self care in our own lives. We highly recommend researching the number of worthwhile courses on offer. Thanks Kristen for your insights.

17.01.2022 Our team participated in Lifeline Tasmania Mental Health Awareness and Communication Training 6 weeks ago. Our staff felt the training was worthwhile and could be applied in both professional and personal situations. With the Lifeline Tasmania’s Minding Your Business program, funded by the State Government, delivering mental health training and support to Tasmanian Small Businesses, we urge and encourage other Businesses to participate in this initiative. https://www.facebook.com/lifelinetasmania/posts/4391011857635843

16.01.2022 Well what a way to arrive back in the office for your last day .. in a sled towed by white reindeer named after all the staff.. thank you for an adventurous 18 days Reidy! I feel more tricks and antics were done than work but you brightened up our year and made the last month memorable. We were also joined by two of our other favourite "elves" this afternoon. 12.01.2022 The 6 month COVID-19 mortgage deferrals offered by banks are starting to expire in Sept / Oct. It’s important if payments can’t be met that the lines of communication remain open with the bank. https://newshub.asic.gov.au/mortgage-repayment-deferrals-a/

10.01.2022 No need to go into the office to check it this weekend, it appears Reidy has set himself up and decided to send us all an email outlining his antics, by hacking into Rachael’s laptop I guess at least his little gesture to our cleaners is thoughtful, I just hope after what they’ve witnessed they return in the New Year....

06.01.2022 With the end of the 6month mortgage/business loan relief moving ever closer Banks have announced they will continue to work with customers to assist during these difficult times. Not everyone will be eligible for additional assistance there will be hardship criteria that will need to be proven. If you are experiencing financial hardship keep the lines of communication open. There are people out there who can help and want to help you. This obviously includes the dedicated staff at Rodgers Reidy, don’t forget our door is always open for a free, confidential, no obligation, assessment of yours or your businesses financial position. https://www.9news.com.au//34b54d13-963a-4108-91e2-3e4771e6

06.01.2022 For these new relief measures to help it is imperative that advice is sought sooner rather than later. We can’t get this message out enough, the sooner advice is sought the more likely the option of restructuring is available. All too often business owners keep their head in the sand too long. https://amp-smh-com-au.cdn.ampproject.org//businesses-can-

06.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day? It is a National day of action where we remind ourselves that everyday is the day to ask R U OK? if someone is struggling with life's ups and downs. Rodgers Reidy Tas have recognised this day with a morning tea and taken a few minutes out of our day to check in on each other and those around us.

05.01.2022 While we are officially in a Recession, below we can find a stark contrast in the current insolvency statistics Nationwide. Is this a sign of things to come? Ask us how we might be able to help you weather the storm. Rodgers Reidy Risk Watch Summary - August 2020 ... For the July - August 2020 period compared to July - August 2019, the data indicates a significant reduction in the number of reported events . Winding up Applications are down by 89%. The ATO did not file any winding up applications in July or August 2020. This is consistent with our understanding that during this period the ATO is more focused on business support measures than recovery procedures; Court Liquidations are down 74%; Voluntary Administrations are down 62% but after adjusting the figures to record multiple companies in a group as a single appointment (e.g.iProsperity Group Pty Ltd) Voluntary Administrations are down 66%; Voluntary Liquidations are down 37%. If you wish to receive free email updates ask us how to sign up for Risk Watch https://mailchi.mp/c/risk-watch-essentials-november-677374

05.01.2022 Shelley was asked to contribute to an article in The Mercury in today's news. Whilst the expectation is that there will be a lot of financial distress and significant changes in the future once the Government Stimulus Packages end, the message is to seek advice early. It may just save your business or limit personal liability. https://www.themercury.com.au//c2c85d7d89e95badde9329508ff

05.01.2022 In Tasmania we like to think we are safe on our little island from advisors who would do the wrong thing by us. We are generally a very trusting community. The below article proves we aren’t immune and we need to keep our guard up. A Hobart Financial Planner has been banned by ASIC for 4 years from providing financial services, carrying on a financial services business and controlling a business that provides financial services. ASIC found Ms Jennings showed a disregard for... the personal and financial circumstances of her clients. If you don’t feel comfortable with advice that’s given or don’t fully understand what is being ‘sold’ / ‘recommended’ to you ask questions. Always remember there is never a dumb question. https://www.accountantsdaily.com.au//15853-asic-bans-advis

03.01.2022 Well Reidy redeemed himself yesterday... he and his friends helped out on the phone in the busy lead up until Christmas break ... we will see how the next few days go but maybe he might be back next year!

03.01.2022 This article is just one of many proving how many ‘zombie’ companies there are out there. Most businesses are currently being propped up and profitable due to Jobkeeper, the decrease in payments that will start flowing through in October will put added pressure on many. https://www.smh.com.au//thousands-of-businesses-to-hit-the
