25.01.2022 Its the faction carnival on Friday and what a better way to cool off than with a refreshing icy pole, especially when all proceeds go to the year 6 camp fundraising! Dont forget your $1 !!
24.01.2022 Hello Roebuck Community! What a year 2020 turned out to be. Despite all the curve balls COVID tried to throw our way, the P & C has had an incredible year. Despite limited fundraising opportunities for terms 1 and 2, the year six committee did an amazing job raising funds for school camp with a total of $6,450 raised to decrease the individual cost for year 6 camp.... The P&C also had a great year raising a total of $15,000 towards the food service provision area to which we have committed $45,000 over three years. An epic effort given the COVID constraints. The opening of the food service area occurred early in term 4 with its first major event being the highly successful quiz night. The opening of this area will greatly increase food options at the school and also fundraising opportunities going forward. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our generous sponsors- please check out the list on the school facebook page and try and support them if you can, we wouldn’t be as successful without their support. I would also like to thank you, our school community, for buying our raffle tickets, donating items and coming to our events- hopefully you enjoyed them as much as we enjoyed putting them on for you. Finally, I would like to express my utmost gratitude to our incredible P & C team- Jo, Erin, Sarah, Sarah, Kristy, Yol, Katie, Mel, Nic and Andrea- we may be small, but we sure are mighty!! Special mention and sad goodbyes to the incredible Mel Hall who just ticked over her seventh year with the Roebuck P&C, and Andrea Rowe who both leave us next year- thank you for all that you have done for our community, we will miss you. If you had ever considered joining the P & C 2021 is your year! We would love to grow and who knows what we could achieve and offer our community with more members including the offering of food options for school lunches- something we can only achieve with more help and more members. Please keep an eye out for details of our AGM and other meetings for 2021. I thank you again for your ongoing support, and wish you all a safe and happy end to 2020, and I look forward to seeing you in 2021. Kate Jones P&C President 2020
24.01.2022 Did you see this in the newsletter? This maths word problem stumped all four Year 6 teams at the Interschool Maths Competition held at Broome North PS last month. Parents, have a go! The correct answer is in the comments.
24.01.2022 Friday was a fantastic day for our Athletics Carnival. All teams ran hard and played hard to earn points for their factions while having fun at the same time. Greenshank took out the Bainbridge Family Sportsmanship Award for the way they consistently cheered their peers on throughout the day and showed great sportsmanship in all activities. The end of the day saw a battle between Ibis and Whimbrel for first place with the relays being the deciding factor. Well done to Ibis fo...r taking out the shield as well as all teams for a fantastic day. A big thanks to the teachers who came early and stayed late to set up and pack up. An even bigger thanks to Mr Kent for organising such a fantastic day. See more

14.01.2022 Nine of our brightest Maths students participated in this mornings Broome Interschool Maths Competition at Broome North PS. The teams, consisting of... Year 4: Xavier S, Bodhi M & Kade S Year 5: Junne K, Finnegan S & Dash G ... Year 6: Cooper T, Toby B & Ben P ... went up against their peers from Cable Beach, Broome and Broome North PS; working together to quickly answer difficult maths problems before their opponents or the buzzer beat them to it. It was very close in all three competitions, particularly in the Year 6 event with Ben, Toby and Cooper coming second to Broome North PS by only 5 points. Thank you to the parents, grandparents and teachers who came to support our Roebuck competitors. We all admired the students perseverance, cool heads under pressure and ability to work together towards a common goal. WELL DONE BOYS
14.01.2022 Dear Parents and Carers In consultation with various agencies, plus checking the all-weather apps and even casting our gaze to the sky, it appears the weather is less than cooperative in the forth-coming days to offer the students and our Roebuck Primary School community the End of Year Presentation under the stars . However, whilst limiting, there is a Window of Hope. In exploring various options, I recognise that each is not perfect but have gone for the one that is most ...favourable and do-able, allowing those students who are receiving an award to have it done so in front of the school community and all students to perform in their class item. I acknowledge that having this event during the working day is not ideal which is why we have made some changes to maximise the opportunity for parents / carers to watch award presentations, items performed and the continuation of other school-based presentations We will be taking as many pictures as possible and posting these, along with a video of the event on our Facebook page. End of Year Presentation Event Day / Date Friday, 11 December Time 8:00am to10:00am Program of events Presentation of Awards Class items, Kindergarten to Year 6 Venue Assembly area NB Students to arrive in their costume I appreciate the flexibilities families have gone to in working with us as we respond and adjust as the weather dictates. Yours sincerely Kelvin Shem PRINCIPAL
