24.01.2022 The WA Government has announced a new package for land tax relief grants for commercial landlords. To be eligible, commercial #landlords must provide rent relief that equates to a minimum of three months rent and freeze outgoings to small businesses that have suffered at least a 30 per cent reduction in turnover due to #covid19. Landlords must also agree not to seek to recover this rent relief from #tenants at the end of the period. Applications open 1 May 2020.... #commercialleasing #rentrelief #taxrelief

24.01.2022 The WA State Government has announced that new legislation will be introduced into State Parliament this week to implement a range of measures to minimise the financial impact of #covid19 on #tenants and #landlords of both commercial and residential tenancies. The Commercial Tenancies (COVID-19 Response) Bill 2020 (WA) will introduce a moratorium on evictions for small commercial tenancies and provide a range of other measures to offer support for tenants in response to COVID...-19, including the introduction of a code of conduct for landlords and tenants. The Residential Tenancies (COVID-19 Response) Bill 2020 (WA) will introduce a number of measures to alleviate the impact of the COVID-19 on residential tenants and landlords, including enabling a tenant to end a fixed term tenancy prior to its end date without incurring break lease fees and relieving landlords of the obligation to conduct ordinary repairs if the reason they cannot do so is COVID-19 related financial hardship or a lawful restriction on movement.

23.01.2022 The Commercial Tenancies (COVID-19 Response) Regulations 2020 came into affect on 29 May 2020 and with it, the new Commercial Tenancies Code of Conduct. Commercial tenants and landlords now have lease principles that must be followed when negotiating rent relief during the COVID-19 pandemic. Further, the new Code of Conduct provides processes and timelines that must be adhered to and consequences for when they are not....
