22.01.2022 Great to dust off the cobwebs for a short getaway!

21.01.2022 Short videos from the live show at the Stockman's Hall of Fame in Longreach Qld. Such clever dogs, demonstrating how they work in unison with their master to control the sheep. Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and Outback Heritage Centre Longreach, Queensland

20.01.2022 What a little gem Winton is! Another very welcoming RV-friendly town. We initially set up camp on the banks of Mistake Creek, 3km outside the town, and loved it so much we vowed to stay up to a week. Spent a few days chillaxing, reading, fishing (but only caught 3 tiny shrimp) and cooking over the campfire. And we fell in love with the amazing big skies and fabulous sunsets out here. Alas, a forecast rain band over central Qld meant our glorious campsite would soon be transfo...rmed to a quagmire, so we moved camp to a pub stay just behind the main street. Lucky we did, as Winton received 22 mm and a few bogged vehicles had to be towed out, and all local unsealed roads are now closed - including into the nearby Bladensburg National Park (just as well we visited before the rain!). The upshot is we've had a wonderful extended stay in a lovely town, and enjoyed a couple of shows with visiting bush poet Gregory North poet (who regaled us with stories of Winton's history, and its role as the birthplace of 'Waltzing Matilda' and its famous author Banjo Patterson). Winton is also famed for its history of dinosaurs, and there are several local museums and fossils. We also enjoyed a night of nostalgia at the open air Royal Theatre, which also plays host this week to the 'Vision Splendid' outback film festival. 20.01.2022 3 years ago ... a bit of a hoot!

20.01.2022 Checked out the Stockman's Hall of Fame while in Longreach Qld. Beautifully designed building with separate displays across multiple floors, marking the role of stockmen in opening up the outback and managing cattle and sheep. The exhibits were accompanied by an integrated state of the art self-guided audio commentary. A highlight was the live show demonstrating horse and stock handling. (Videos of the sheepdogs in separate post.) Longreach, Queensland Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and Outback Heritage Centre

20.01.2022 We were wondering about all the yellow bicycles around Batlow and Tumut. And now we know ... communities showing their support to build local rail trails for biking.

16.01.2022 Mmmmm, gotta love vegies cooked in the campfire

14.01.2022 Can you spot us in the crowd?

10.01.2022 Snuggly tucked up inside, wondering when Roe'ving Australia will next experience the open road. Hope everyone is staying safe. #StaySafe #AllInThisTogether

10.01.2022 I guess we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto!

09.01.2022 More highlights from Tumbafest ... markets, great local wines and food, live Oz music, a (rubber ducky) duck race fundraiser, and the generous Sikh communities giving their all to support bushfire affected communities.

09.01.2022 Just bought the freshest, yummiest sourdough bread from the pub at Jugiong NSW! Still warm, too. It was so good, we went back for more! #emptyesky #helpsmallbusiness

09.01.2022 Ah, 3 years ago. Seems so long ago now... red dust, on the way to the Big Red Bash near Birdsville.

07.01.2022 Still dreaming of the open road. Fingers crossed, not too much longer. #LifeInLockdown #Covid2020

05.01.2022 A big shout out to Australian Sikh Support ... these legends were very visible across bushfire affected communities with generous donations. And today they're handing out water to the Tumbafest crowd.
