21.01.2022 "Trail of Fallen Leaves" Rogaining will be held on November 24/25, 2018 near Strzelin in Poland. Time limit will be 10 hours. The course will be control points ...located approximately 1-2 km. Maps hand-out an hour before start. Eachcontrol will be worth from 4 to 8 points, depending on how difficult it is. from each other. In this article from the Friends of #HeysenTrail Amelia writes of her familys tradit...ion of walking the Heysen Trail as a child - she was very much reluctant to do this, but it led to her catching the activity bug and to this day is still an active walker. Last year she started walking the Heysen Trail as a family again, but this time with her own children, walking short sections close to Adelaide. She asked her 8yo son his thoughts on the walks theyd done so far: One of my favourite sections was the boggy bits. The others squelched into the mud probably because youre bigger. But me, I got through easier and was dancing around waiting at the end of the bog. 06.01.2022 Ever heard of rogaining? It sounds like a fun opportunity to get out & enjoy our beautiful bushland. Theres a rogain on Sunday 25 November... being organised by NSW Rogaining. Everyone is welcome: its even accessible for wheelchairs & prams. Heres a Q&A: What is rogaining? Its the sport of cross country navigation. Teams of 2-5 are given a map with differently scored checkpoints. They have a set amount of time to navigate to these points that will maximize their score and return to the start. On Sunday 25/11 there is a 4 hour and an 8 hour option offered. What equipment do you need to join in? What you'd take bushwalking: loose fitting clothing, a raincoat if wet, food, drink, a first aid kit and a compass. How fit do you have to be? Obviously the more fit you are, the further you will be able to go, but it is a great way to build walking fitness. Many teams go out for a few kms, get a few checkpoints and go back early. What are the age limits for participants? None! There will be a route for beginners through the bush, as well as a completely stroller/wheelchair friendly loop. Can kids join in? Yes. There will even be a prize for the leading family team. Many checkpoints will be at picnic tables and playgrounds How long will the Berowra rogain take? You can choose the 4 hour option or the 8 hour option. Are beginners welcome? Yes! Is rogaining safe? Follow general bushwalking precautionary measures - go within your ability, carry first aid and drink and eat plenty! Come and enjoy a course that will appeal to everyone from young families, keen bushwalkers, hardcore orienteers, ultramarathon champions to couples on their first date. There are easy routes for novices, family friendly options and challenging route decisions to be made for the gun teams.
