25.01.2022 Wow! I have just reached 2000 followers. A HUGE thank you for supporting my photography! It is a pleasure and privilege to be able to photograph our amazing Australian birds, I think they are a feast for the senses. I am off on a field trip next week to central west NSW combining the two things I love doing most, motorbike riding and "stalking" birds with my camera. Let's see what I bring back for you. If you enjoy my work, you now have the option to buy high quality prints,... framed prints and canvasses of some of Australia's most colourful and interesting birds in a range of sizes starting from just $18 and delivered to you door . If you can't see what you want, just message me and I'll see what I can do. 24.01.2022 Striated Pardalote #1 (not a Spotted Pardalote in previous posts) So, I was in my shed today, working on restoring my classic 1975 Kawasaki 900 Z1B motorbike when I hear a lot of squeaking and chirping and I see a tiny blur of a bird enter a hole in the sarking in the ceiling of the shed from the nearby door. It's too quick for the human eye to work out what it is. But it comes and goes regularly and is feeding its chicks every few minutes. So I station myself outside with my... camera, figuring it is probably landing in a bush next to the shed before it enters. Sure enough, there is mummy and daddy, working their guts out to feed the chicks, flying back and forth, about 40 visits per hour. Here's one of them with the next meal. I have been living here for four years and this is the first time I have become aware these little birds are present. It pays to slow down sometimes and just carefully observe the world around us. 23.01.2022 One of the many bird visitors to the Ridge Retreat, at our property near Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia. I am careful to ensure that this King Parrot only gets "treats" from us but must rely on his own resources to get food from the wild. Seeing them up close is magical. They are beautiful wonders of nature and evolution

23.01.2022 This one has been voted by Gurushots members for exhibition at Stills: Centre for Photography Gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland between 5-7 November 2020.

21.01.2022 Paradise Riflebird Now, this is not a good shot by any means, but I was excited and lucky to get this one. I went on a motorbike / bird-watching trip recently and took my camera. As part of the trip I visited the Dorrigo National Park Rainforest Centre and almost as soon as I started my walk, this fellow appeared. He had the most beautiful iridescent blue tail feathers that sadly I wasn't able to capture because it was school holidays and a bunch of noisy kids came by. But n...evertheless, very happy to have seen him. Dorrigo, NSW, Australia Nikon D500 | Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6 VR ED lens. Copyright Roger Fance. All rights reserved.

14.01.2022 What can we say about 2020? Let's not say too much! We will move right along to 2021 with hopes of a bright and happy reset! Thanks to all the front line workers who have done so much to try to keep life as normal as possible for the rest of us. In the meantime, if you can, enjoy some time off and reconnect with your family and friends. ... Have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and let's see what bird photos I can snag in 2021! Cheers Rog For sight-impaired with text readers: A red and green King Parrot wearing a Christmas hat with a bauble hanging from its beak sitting on a branch.

10.01.2022 Really excited about my road trip / watching trip to central west NSW. Leaving Monday but been packed since Thursday. When I stop to do some photography in the National Parks I can leave my entire riding gear safely secured in the top box with the helmet locked to the bike, and change into walking gear and carry my photography backpack. Got a monopod strapped to the bike too. Heading to Tamworth, then Warialdra, Narrabri and two nights in Coonabarabran so that I can spend time walking in the Pilliga forest. Bike is fueled, tyres are pumped and so am I !!!

09.01.2022 I am really pleased to say that a portfolio of 4 photographs that I entered for the AUSTRALIAN PHOTOGRAPHY - PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR 2020 competition received a HIGHLY COMMENDED award in the Animal and Nature category. ... I'd like to thank all those who took part in helping me choose the photographs to enter. You may recall the Emu was voted most popular and it seems that the judges agreed. When I look at the list of judges, I see Georgina Steytler's name. We all have people we look up to as the best in their field. As a photographer, I am totally awestruck with her talent and therefore so excited that she and the rest of the judges chose my photos for mention.

05.01.2022 Cinnamon Rainbow Lorikeet #Nikon #D500 I drive an afternoon school bus run every day through King Creek and have spotted this bird a few times. I decided yesterday to do a letter drop to the locals asking if they had seen it and at what times so I could go and photograph it. A very helpful local named Ivan let me know that they feed the birds every afternoon at around 4.00pm and I should come back then. So I did and voila!... There is more information about these bred birds at http://www.aviculturalsocietynsw.org/_a/RainbowLorikeet.htm This one is obviously an escapee but it is good to see it flying with a flock of normally-coloured Rainbow Lorikeets nonetheless.
