15.01.2022 A beautiful piece of art captured by Roger Pengelly Photography at Swansea Beach Tasmania. We have this one in an extra-large size hanging at the Chill'd Cafe Morisset NSW. We think it looks amazing and has a painted artwork look when very large.

06.01.2022 "Glen Davis Shale Oil Mine Ruins" Roger Pengelly visited Glen Davis; a historic town in the Capertee Valley located about 80km north of Lithgow. It has a current population of about 350. The first mining tunnel was opened in 1831 and by the late 1930s Glen Davis was a busy town of about 2500. The focus of this interest being the extraction and processing of shale oil. To quietly wander among the substantial ruins of this once thriving hive of industry and listen to the st...ories of a bygone era and sense the sweat, smell and sounds as told by the ruins of bricks and steel is something that absorbs the senses and imagination. One has to from time to time just stop and feel the stories of this place. In 1952, the town was abandoned due to the lack of government support for this industry that was no longer needed to feed the insatiable need for oil and fuel created by WW2. Many of the ruins are in bad disrepair so caution needs to be exercised particularly near the taller edifices that mark the toils and labours of a bygone industry. See more
