25.01.2022 I hadn’t seen this before, but that is part of the fun of working on CBX’s that have had many owners and tinkerers play with them over the years. A rough attem...pt to fix the clutch basket rattle. Welding the gear to the outer plate does minimal. The rivets need to be removed and take out the 40 year old Cush rubbers and fit some new ones. That is what I will do, (as well as grind off the welds.) Cheers Rol.

24.01.2022 Just fitted a set of Pipemasters to my clients bike. I had built the engine a year or so back and the brown line was then, with a replica stock exhaust system, ...it had around 82 rwhp. Now I know that I am not comparing apples and apples, as the dyno runs were not done on the same day, but the blue line running with Pipemasters shows the engine pulling better right through the rev range, from 2000 rpm. Not to mention the looks and the exhaust note of the Pipemasters. No carb modifications were done, or needed.

22.01.2022 After the 20 year slumber, she has been awakened. Had a full service and carbs overhauled, new tyres and brakes gone through. Just done a balance and full powe...r run on the dyno. Running and sounding good. Now a couple of minor jobs to do next week. She is then booked in to be transported interstate back to her very excited owner in a couple of weeks. He has owned her since the 90's, but she has been parked for 20 years.

19.01.2022 Getting there. .75 oversized pistons and new V&H tensioners and chains. Head cleaned up, new bearings, crank flushed and grub screws fitted. New Cush rubbers ...fitted your the clutch basket. New steel and fibre plates and stock springs. Should be good for another 42 years.

18.01.2022 Also as well as being able to supply the best tensioners for your CBX, I can also supply the best cam chains, primary chains and oil pump chains. Fitting these quality parts when you do a rebuild is a do it once do it right procedure.

16.01.2022 Client's engine rebuild. Cases hydro blasted, thoroughly cleaned and 2k painted. Found out where the copper in the oil was coming from. The #6 big end bearings.... Crank within tolerance for straight, journals acceptable with a light touch up only needed. The question is why did only the #6 big ends bugger up??? Were wrong sized bearings installed previously??? The engine had been apart before in its life. Some work was good, some not so. There was a lot of sludge in the engine cases and the other possibility is sludge build up in the crank, restricting oil flow. Tomorrow I'll remove the balls from the oil galleries and drill and tap for grub screws and give the crank a good flush out.

16.01.2022 Held up on this project, but will get engine in and running next week. Waiting for oil lines. Onto another carb job whilst waiting.

15.01.2022 Mostly back together and valve clearances done. Now, beer o’clock.

12.01.2022 This lovely red twin shock has been recommissioned after a 12 year sleep. Carbs and brakes rebuilt, valve clearances done, oil and filter change, sump removed ...and oil pump screen cleaned and new air filter fitted. Tomorrow a carb balance and a dyno run and she’ll be right to go back to her owner for hopefully some regular use. See more

07.01.2022 Look what I found in what we had been told was a good engine. Disappointing but not the end of the World. She will live again. Robbie Phillis, this con rod will make a good sinker when you are fishing in flood waters.

03.01.2022 This was a different project. A commission to build a heal and toe shifter for a client with a CBX, who had an ankle injury. He wanted to continue riding his beloved CBX, but couldn't manage the gear change anymore. This came up a treat and looks like it could be almost a factory option.... Thanks for the challenge, Steve.

03.01.2022 This beauty ready to be loaded up and go back home. After a 20 year hibernation, she is now fit to cruise the highways and byways even better than she did when new.

03.01.2022 Two naked CBX’s from the same era in my workshop. One stock frame and one Moto Martin. The stock one has a damaged engine case that needs the engine to come o...ut to be welded up. The Martin, I am going to rebuild the carbs and check under the cam cover and then awaken her from her 34 year slumber.
