23.01.2022 Thank you to the Roleybushcare volunteers who turned up in the rain to help remove weeds and introduced wattle from the Madew Street Bushland which is behind the Football Pavilion and the Family Centre. It looks a little bare now but we hope the bush will regenerate and next year we plan to re-vegetate it. It is surprising how many different species of flora you can find in this small area. Please when passing through stay on the paths. Protect it or lose it!!!!

21.01.2022 Thank you volunteers. We had a fantastic turn out and managed to treat another area of Canning Mills Reserve. Have a look at our small video about filling the syringes. Young Josh is a "super filler" watch his speedy efforts while John is more sedate.

16.01.2022 This morning was the Bushcare Environmental Working Group's breakfast for volunteers in the City of Armadale. A wonderful selection of food was offered after the welcome to country. Our Mayor Ruth Butterfield thanked everyone for their contribution to the local environment. The Group has created an Environmental Champions Honour Board for outstanding environmental volunteers and today Pat Hart honoured two people. One was our very own Dr Ian Colquhoun. Pat also presented a framed photo of Ian to his wife Mady. Roleybushcare is thrilled to see Ian remembered in this way. The plaque will reside at the Settlers Common Environment Centre.

11.01.2022 The Roleybushcare Flora Database is here The concept of a flora database for Roleystone was created to enable our community to identify the native plants in the local reserves and on their own bush blocks. The database can be searched on botanical family, genus, species, common name, flower colour (for multi-coloured flowers, only one of the colours need to be added), month of flowering, category of plant (e.g. climber, grass, small shrub, orchid etc), dieback resistance..., and reserve name. You can view the database at www.roleybushcare.com.au

09.01.2022 Thanks to the enthusiasm of our loyal volunteers, we have made a start on treating the trees in the Cross Park Precinct. The area we treated this morning was around Hillendale Retirement Village.

09.01.2022 Tim came across this huge jarrah tree whilst treating the bushland near Eskdale Street. If you are interested in finding out the age of your Jarrah or Marri tree then pop into the Roleystone Hardware store and borrow one of our tree measuring tapes. 08.01.2022 A big thank you to all the volunteers who turned out to Canning Mills Reserve to help out in our fight against phytophthora dieback. We protected the trees that are susceptible to the disease across a 200 m dieback front, and while we were there we took this picture to show the devastating impact of Phytophthora cinnimomi on our native flora. The dieback affected area is to the right of the picture, and the area to the left is not infected. Our efforts today should halt the spread of the disease for up to five years.

08.01.2022 News from AGLG...

08.01.2022 It is Volunteer Week 2020 and we have not been able to hold our regular dinner to thank our many volunteers. But there is one person who must be thanked by us all and that person is Tim Lardner who is the Chairperson of Roleybushcare. Tim is a wonderful and inspirational leader and is appreciated for his dedication to our Group. Thank you Tim. This video is a small snapshop of Tim performing his many varied duties over the years.

05.01.2022 Thank you to all the volunteers who helped plant 2000 seedlings along the Thompson Track in Roleystone this morning. Shane Hunter from AGLG organised the event partnering with Roleybushcare. A fabulous morning tea was again supplied by our Roleybushcare morning tea people. This must be one of our favourite field days, such a privilege living here. Sunshine, river views, great company and scrumptious tucker... what more could you wish for.
