02.01.2022 HUMANS OF THE SOUTHWEST: Through the Roma Men’s Shed I’ve made big weather stations and the ANZ manager in town bought it from Coomber Brothers. I went to show ...the ladies in there and she asked if they could keep it in the shop then a couple days later I got a call saying, ‘come pick up your cheque for $400’. I’ve been at the Men’s Shed for seven years. Previously I was a workshop foreman for Main Roads for forty years in Charleville and Roma. I’d never done any woodwork before coming here. When I started, I said I’ll work on anything but steel, so they said make jigsaw puzzles and there’s where I started, then I ventured into making Christmas decorations like reindeers and sleighs. I make toys for the Christmas raffles. I enjoy making all different things, it’s great to come here and see friends and have a chat. I don’t always get work done because I help others or spend the morning catching up with the other men. See more
