03.01.2022 Dont forget to come to the Clubhouse at 12 today.... TENNIS:In an effort to maximise womens involvement in tennis, Romas tennis club is taking advantage of International Womens Day to hold an all-female tennis camp. This Saturday, from 9am-noon, women of any age are invited to join the South Region Assembly and the Roma and District Tennis Club to celebrate International Womens Day.... Tennis Maranoa president Baden Waldron said Tennis Australia was the one to push this event as a way to get more women involved in the sport and what better way to do a camp than on International Womens Day. This Saturday is all about women, Waldron said. We hope that we get a good turnout and women from all over the southwest join us for this first time ever event. This camp will carry on in the future at other clubs, but it wont be in Roma for a few years, so we hope we can make it a success out here on Saturday. Tennis Australia has organised professional coaches to come out to Roma all weekend to teach women how to play the sport. Guest speakers, like Margaret Mawn (who has been a life member of the club since the late 1990s) and Suzie Johnston (whose parents were both tennis coaches), will each be talking about a healthy lifestyle and participation in the sport. After the guest speakers, we will be putting on a healthy lunch of course, Waldron said.
