23.01.2022 The cost of being a disciple Luke 14:25-35 Rpcc Service 23/8/2020

23.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE In response to the Covid-19 pandemic and having reviewed the current gathering restrictions and compliance obligations, the Burnie Carols by Candl...elight management team, in partnership with the Pastors of the Churches of Burnie, have determined that it would not be feasible to host carols in the park this year and will present an online program for 2020. As outlined in our Mission Statement, Burnie Carols aims to provide an opportunity for the people of Burnie to gather together and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas and build community by singing carols with family and friends. This year will be no different but different! We invite the community of Burnie to gather in place in their homes, churches, clubs, schools, or favourite local restaurant to join us on the evening of Sunday 20 December as we premiere the Burnie Carols program via online streaming channels. These satellite gatherings may be smaller than our normal night together in the park, but the sense of community spirit will be as strong as ever. Burnie Carols has always been a free event, and this was not something the management team wanted to compromise on simply because life has changed. The wellbeing of the community is our highest priority, as well as the wise management of the resources that are generously donated to run this community event each year. Officials cannot currently advise if or when gathering restrictions will change in Tasmania, and creating a covid-normal event comes with many increased expenses. The cost of compliance, hygiene and safety measures, alongside the decrease of revenue due to crowd number limitations, qualified the decision to move to an online format this year. Further details, including guest artists, will be announced in the lead up to the event. Burnie Carols is privileged each year to work with many talented local musicians and vocalists and this year we look forward to extending the team to include recording and production technicians as we pull together the 2020 Burnie Carols by Candlelight program. 10.01.2022 Thursday update

09.01.2022 In a busy life, it becomes vital to stop and take some time to still ourselves before God. My reading today had these really great thoughts on contemplative pr...ayer. I wanted to share them and I hope that you enjoy them. "Contemplative prayer is not just about activity and speaking but also about listening and resting in God. Many of us have grown up thinking of prayer as a checklist of requests to God, like giving a grocery list to someone headed to the supermarket. As one kid said, Im heading off to pray does anyone need anything? Prayer is certainly about sharing our concerns and frustrations with God. God is personal enough to come down and wrestle in the dirt with Jacob or answer Abrahams pleading on behalf of Sodom and Gomorrah. Still, contemplative prayer goes deeper. A primary purpose of prayer is to impress on us the personality and character of Christ. We want to become like Jesus, so the life that we live is no longer ours but Christ living in us and through us. Prayer is less about trying to get God to do something we want God to do and more about getting ourselves to do what God wants us to do and to become who God wants us to become."

01.01.2022 A great devotions word from Dr John Munro "Following Jesus: Prayer Are you a person of prayer? Having a vital prayer life is a critical part of following Jesus. Yet you may feel you don’t pray enough and your prayers may often be mechanical and superficial. ... In Matthew 6:7-14, Jesus gives us a model to help us know how to pray. This is a prayer that honors God. Pray for His will to be done. Pray for specific things, for provision. Pray for protection from Satan and temptation. Prayer is an incredible privilege. Through your faith in Jesus Christ, God is your heavenly Father. This intimate loving relationship gives us a sense of security and boldness that comes from knowing that He is always there listening. He will never reject you. You are forever accepted. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16)."

01.01.2022 We, at Romaine Park are priveledged to partner with Bruce French AO and Deb French in the work of Food Plants.
