23.01.2022 And this is what makes what I do so rewarding, the girls knocking on my door with flowers and cake for my birthday and including everyone in the card! Beautiful souls, and so nice to be appreciated. Great choice of flowers and cake, Luke Crabb, youll have to start a business as a flowers and cake Uber!

22.01.2022 As the term draws to a close, the RRSH INC committee and I would like to wish you all a happy and safe Christmas holiday season, and hope Santa finds you all Christmas Eve. Looking forward to 2021 being a little less disruptive. Thank you to all our hostel families for you support and cooperation during 2020, I especially appreciate your trust and belief in the system the residence has adopted to make it a safe place to continue your children’s education. Unfortunately, not... all the students, parents and committee members could make it to our End of year/Christmas celebration. Thank you to committee members Julie Guthrie and Acting Chair Cameron O’Neil for taking the time out from their busy schedule to attend and mingle with our families. Cameron presented the Alf Golder memorial award to Ty O’Neill (year 9) , and the Ann Gibbes memorial award which was shared by Georgie Phillips (year 12) and Brooke Maher (year 9). Congratulations! Other students received varying awards, according to the strengths and qualities they brought to life at the hostel. Congratulations to you all for surviving and thriving what has been quite a challenging year. We look forward to welcoming back our existing students, and some new faces for 2021. As always, it is with mixed emotions we say goodbye and the very best of luck to Georgie Phillips and Jade Crabb, thank you for your leadership and the responsible contribution you made while at the hostel. While we are sad to see you go, we look forward to hearing of the conquests you achieve in your life at university in the coming years. Thanks to Beck’s Chopping Board for providing a delicious and interesting spread for the evening and to Moorelands nursery for again providing a magical venue for our end of year event- until next year, enjoy a safe and happy Christmas and hoping for 2021 being the best (wet) year ever! See more

21.01.2022 As the sun sets on another year, I wish the families who have supported the hostel, and to those who are currently attending the hostel, a safe and happy Christmas, and the best of wishes for 2020.
21.01.2022 South West communities should be aware of and informed, but not alarmed, about coronavirus (COVID-19). The best way to look after yourself and your loved ones i...s by washing your hands often and properly, staying 1.5 metres away from people who cough or sneeze and staying home if youre sick and no more hand shaking. You can stay up-to-date with the latest information and the facts, visit: www.health.qld.gov.au/coronavirus #howweconnect #southwest #communities

11.01.2022 Something to be aware of?
10.01.2022 AN OLD WOMAN WALKED UP AND TIED HER OLD MULE TO THE HITCHING POST. AS SHE STOOD THERE, BRUSHING SOME OF THE DUST FROM HER FACE AND CLOTHES, A YOUNG GUNSLINGER S...TEPPED OUT OF THE SALOON WITH A GUN IN ONE HAND AND A BOTTLE OF WHISKEY IN THE OTHER. THE YOUNG GUNSLINGER LOOKED AT THE OLD WOMAN AND LAUGHED, "HEY OLD WOMAN, HAVE YOU EVER DANCED?" THE OLD WOMAN LOOKED UP AT THE GUNSLINGER AND SAID, "NO,... I NEVER DID DANCE... NEVER REALLY WANTED TO." A CROWD HAD GATHERED AS THE GUNSLINGER GRINNED AND SAID "WELL, YOU OLD BAG, YOU'RE GONNA DANCE NOW," AND STARTED SHOOTING AT THE OLD WOMAN'S FEET. THE OLD WOMAN PROSPECTOR -- NOT WANTING TO GET HER TOE BLOWN OFF --STARTED HOPPING AROUND. EVERYBODY WAS LAUGHING. WHEN HIS LAST BULLET HAD BEEN FIRED, THE YOUNG GUNSLINGER, STILL LAUGHING, HOLSTERED HIS GUN AND TURNED AROUND TO GO BACK INTO THE SALOON. THE OLD WOMAN TURNED TO HER PACK MULE, PULLED OUT A DOUBLE-BARRELED SHOTGUN, AND COCKED BOTH HAMMERS. THE LOUD CLICKS CARRIED CLEARLY THROUGH THE DESERT AIR, AND THE CROWD STOPPED LAUGHING IMMEDIATELY. THE YOUNG GUNSLINGER HEARD THE SOUNDS, TOO, AND HE TURNED AROUND VERY SLOWLY. THE SILENCE WAS ALMOST DEAFENING. THE CROWD WATCHED AS THE YOUNG GUNMAN STARED AT THE OLD WOMAN AND THE LARGE GAPING HOLES OF THOSE TWIN BARRELS. THE BARRELS OF THE SHOTGUN NEVER WAVERED IN THE OLD WOMAN'S HANDS, AS SHE QUIETLY SAID, "SON, HAVE YOU EVER KISSED A MULE'S ASS?" THE GUNSLINGER SWALLOWED HARD AND SAID, "NO M'AM... BUT I'VE ALWAYS WANTED TO. THERE ARE FIVE LESSONS HERE FOR ALL OF US: 1 - Never be arrogant. 2 - Don't waste ammunition. 3 - Whiskey makes you think you're smarter than you are. 4 - Always make sure you know who has the power. 5 - Don't mess with old people; they didn't get old by being stupid.
09.01.2022 This explains a lot!

04.01.2022 Department of Education’s scholarships and grants for 2021 are open for applications. These scholarships and grants reinforce the department’s dedication to pro...viding the best teachers for all state schools while promoting teaching as a career path. The rural and remote category of our Aspiring Teacher Grants is a great opportunity for rural and remote school leavers considering a career in teaching! These grants offer a one-off $5,000 grant to high-achieving state and non-state school leavers enrolling in an eligible initial teacher education course whose residence falls within a rural or remote community. In addition to the general eligibility criteria, rural or remote applicants from state and non-state schools must also reside within the catchment of a Queensland state school with a transfer rating of between 3 and 7 as per the Department of Education schools directory. Applications close at midnight on Friday 11 December 2020. Further information, including to apply, can be found by click here: Aspiring Teacher Grants. Perspective applicants can also contact our Scholarships and Grants team via [email protected] or (07) 3055 2927.
04.01.2022 EVERY PARENT SHOULD READ THIS I SEE YOU Its a time of badges, certificates, medals, trophies, recognition, awards, prizes and 'seeing' of high achievement. I lo...ve seeing the kids that shine at this time of year - a big high heartfelt round of applause to you. You so deserve it for the effort you have put in. But this message is for the kids that didn't get called up for any of the above... I SEE YOU. To the child that conquered their fear of heights, or sleeping in the dark, or riding without training wheels or sleeping out for the night for the first time this year, I SEE YOU To the child that managed to resolve more conflict than they started this year, to the child that learnt to say the impossible; "I'm sorry", and to the child that walked away from the fighting instead of getting involved, I SEE YOU To the child for whom school is a huge struggle, you get up everyday and you go, I SEE YOU To the child that battled all year with the maths, or reading, or concentration, or speaking out in class, or learning their words, but persevered anyway, I SEE YOU To the child that found the kindness in their heart reach out in anyway to another person or to an animal in need or in pain, I SEE YOU To the child that learnt to give and to share for the first time this year and even found joy in these, I SEE YOU To the child that battles to make friends and to be social, you made new friends this year and for that, I SEE YOU To the child who wanted so much to please, but was just out of sight of an adult who perhaps was too busy or too distracted, I SEE YOU To the child who lost a friend or a loved one this year, but carried on everyday bravely even though their heart ached, I SEE YOU To the brave parents that try everyday to do the best for their kids, I SEE YOU. May you and your children revel in small but significant victories that you have both experienced this year, as I will with my beautiful children. For every year there is progress and growth, we don't need a podium or handshake or a hall of applause to be seen. Credit:- A Dog For James
