11.01.2022 Managing COVID-19 Corona Virus Pandemic With the current pandemic of COVID-19, the Romsey Veterinary Surgery is still OPEN and providing routine and non-routine and emergency treatment and surgical procedures to our patients, both large and small. Restrictions on human movements and interactions are likely to change quickly which is likely to affect our services, and we will endeavor to keep you informed on how the clinic is functioning as often as possible. Whilst we are... still operating as normal, we have put into place a number of precautions to minimize the risk of transmission to both our clients and staff. These include general practice hygiene, however we also ask that when visiting us you adhere to the following: If you are unwell, showing flu like symptoms or have traveled overseas in the last 14 days, please do not visit the clinic. Please arrange for a family member or friend to bring your animal in. If you can’t make arrangements, please notify us in advance to arrange patient drop-off/isolation Where possible, please minimize the number of people attending the consultation with the patient We are happy for clients/patients to wait in their car outside the Surgery, rather than in the waiting room, but request you call us upon arrival so that we can record this and advise you when the Vet is ready We are aiming to keep waiting times to a minimum, therefore if you have multiple issues to discuss with the vet, or multiple patients that need to be seen, please advise us so we can schedule adequate time for the consult(s) During your time at the Surgery we ask that you aim to maintain a distance of 1.5 metres from other clients, practice staff and also maintain good sneeze/cough hygiene and hand hygiene We do offer telephone consults if you would prefer this to attending the clinic, however please be aware this type of consult may not be suitable for all patients and consultation fees do apply If you require medications/food/merchandise please ring in advance to pre-order these and to minimize waiting times Thankyou for your patience, compliance and understanding Take care From all the staff at the Romsey Veterinary Surgery

09.01.2022 Hi Everyone, As some of you may have noticed it has been a touch difficult to get in contact with us. Unfortunately as we have no power all calls have been diverted to an after hours phone. As this phone is taking all calls if you cant get through please leave a message and we will call you back as soon as we can. We know many of you are also experiencing difficulty at home with all of the storm damage and we hope you are all safe. With the power out we have no access to know... when any appointments were made and also have no access to contact numbers to get in touch. Many have already contacted us to reschedule. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience and we are doing our best under the circumstances. Regards, All of us at the clinic

09.01.2022 Hi everyone! Have you heard about the new puppy/kitten micro-chipping regulations? Did you know that before any dog or cat can be micro-chipped, you need to obtain a source number from the Pet Exchange Register? What does this mean for you? ... This is a new rule that has been introduced so that no puppy or kitten born after July 1st 2020 can be advertised or sold without a microchip and now a source number. If you are buying or adopting a dog or cat, they should already be micro-chipped. If not, you should be provided with a source number from the breeder you are purchasing them from. Veterinarians are not allowed to legally implant a puppy or kitten without a source number. If you need a source number please visit www.per.animalwelfare.vic.gov.au But please note, as the new owner you, yourself cannot register to obtain a source number as it has to come from the original owner/breeder of the litter. If you have any questions you can contact the clinic on 5429 5711 or you can go to the link provided above for further information. The central animal records website also explains in better detail the origin and purpose of this new regulation, which you can find via the following link https://car.com.au//pet-exchange-register-source-numbers-v

04.01.2022 Happy Valentine's Day Everyone! With many receiving and giving flowers today, we would like to take this opportunity to share a very important message. Many bouquets prepared for Valentine's day contain Lilies. Whilst pretty they are highly toxic to cats, particularly affecting their kidneys.... All parts of a Lily are toxic, this includes the flower, pollen and leaves. We ask all our clients be mindful with what flowers you buy and to check the ones you have already been given. If you believe your cat has ingested part of a lily or find your cat with the flowers we ask that you call the clinic immediately on 5429 5711. 03.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our wonderful, mischievous, clinic cat Finnbar (Finn). Many of you will remember seeing Finn over the years, strutting in and out of the clinic like he owned the place (and the people). Stopping for a pat and often at times teasing excited puppies who had never seen a cat before. Finnbar first came to us in 2012 as a stray kitten with a broken hip. After lots of TLC he worked his way into our hearts and became a very importa...nt member of the Romsey Vet family. Finn has spent the last couple of years retired and living on the farm with one of our vets overlooking the Macedon Ranges. He has loved spending his days adventuring around the farm and helping with the day-to-day running. Finn loved to be involved in all the world had to offer no matter the weather. We are grateful for the memories this curious cat brought us over the years and we know he is ready to cross that rainbow bridge and see what mischief he can get up to. Rest Easy Finnbar
