25.01.2022 So deeply true. Ive been thinking about this idea a lot lately, working in the system change space. It reminds me of something Michael McAfee said at #changefest last year: "the system is the way we decide to be in relationship with each other"

25.01.2022 This one is Sydney based - hopefully it will role out to other regional areas as well.

25.01.2022 A while ago the gorgeous Lucy Ellis at Newcastle Health Collective interviewed me for their podcast. Here's the link and feel free to share with anyone you think might be interested. Sorry about the GIANT HEAD looking at you - i can't seem to change the formatting for my face to get a little bit smaller and less intense!! ;) http://www.newcastlehealthcollective.com//beck-ronkson-co/

24.01.2022 Am I a normal mother? The focus of this year's 2016 Womens Health Week is 'am I normal?'. It is of particular importance to Mothers, with all the distorted notions of normal portrayed in social media and the pressures we put on ourselves to succeed in multiple areas of life. Studies have shown that for mothers societal oriented parenting perfectionism was associated with lower parenting efficacy (Lee, M. A., Schoppe-Sullivan, S. J., & Kamp Dush, C. M. (2012). And yet, the... same study indicated that perfectionism that originated from the purpose and drives of the individual (not as a result of peer comparison) resulted in higher levels of satisfaction. This makes a lot of sense for me - if your standards are driven from an awareness within, rather than comparing yourself with others, you are far less likely to feel that overwhelming sense of dissatisfaction. Motherhood is great, but tough. And its ridiculously easy to lose sight of your own personal needs. So if you know of any women who could use an opportunity to check in, a reminder that the inaugural Motherhood Mojo Workshop will be running next Sunday in Newcastle from 10am-4pm. There are only 4 places left! So get in now by emailing me at [email protected]

24.01.2022 And it is LIVE! Deep Collaboration - an open-source platform of resources around sharing #power between #FirstNations and other multicultural Australians. For anyone facilitating in this space - it's frank and honest about the challenges - focusing on the relationship piece of how we can truly meet and partner, given the complexities and history surrounding us. Honouring all the voices that made this happen, the voices of the original Authors of Lost Conversations, and all those who continued to worked tirelessly for years to bring it to this place. And to @collabforimpact for holding, encouraging, resourcing and championing it. https://platformc.org/deepcollaboration

24.01.2022 Feeling Blocked? Stuck? Like something needs to change? Whether it be for your own situation, or that of your organisation, using a combination of creative and psychological tools can be a powerful and inventive way of making change.

23.01.2022 It's great that attention is being drawn to this now - the impact of de-roling can't be underestimated as we found at Milk Crate Theatre.. De-roling needs to be built, as habit, into the running schedule of ALL theatrical productions - whether they be schools or amateur productions right through to professional. We need performers to create deep, beautiful, authentic performances - but not at the expense of themselves.

23.01.2022 I'm very excited to be partnering with Chrysalis Therapeutic Support Services to run this creative therapeutic group program in Newcastle in late July. See below for further details and feel free to share with services or anyone eligible for a referral :)

21.01.2022 Getting attacked as a facilitator honestly used to be one of my biggest fears. I cant say I ever enjoy it, but after working with many communities over the years, and sitting in the fire, it is no longer debilitating or an issue. Ive learnt how to work with it, learn from it, and bring it in as data. Its liberating! Im very excited to be co-facilitating these online masterclasses in facilitation over the next few months, around really juicy topics. First cab off the rank is Facilitators innerwork - how facilitators can navigate being attacked and make it useful for the group theyre facilitating.

20.01.2022 Getting very excited about connecting with all those attending this awesome event for making change #ChangeFest18 @collaboforimpact

18.01.2022 Love this. She sums it up beautifully.

18.01.2022 It's been a privilege to be working on this platform for the last year alongside Mark and the rest of the team. It is unique and I'm proud of what it will offer (for free) into the space of sharing power between First Nations and other Multicultural Australians. We are all very excited about it getting released publically - stay tuned!!!

17.01.2022 Nice one David in bringing this discussion more into the mainstream. Not enough is understood yet about the impact of rank in all our relationships, and the more we can all skill up, the more abuse we can prevent.

17.01.2022 Gearing up for #Changefest19. Enthused and excited about working with, and listening to, Communities in Charge, leading from the front with their heads, hands and hearts. #citizenleaders #localleadership Collaboration for Impact

17.01.2022 For any of you facilitators out there, Jane and I are running our online facilitation workshop series around group dynamics again. Short bite-sized workshops that introduce a Process-oriented approach to 4 key areas: Power, Rank & Privilege in the Facilitator role, Facilitator's Innerwork, Working with the learning edge and Reaching Agreement. Join us! Rather than me just bang on about it, here are some testamonials from previous participants: Beck and Jane bring the key concepts of process work to life in this fabulously stimulating, challenging and practical program. Thoroughly recommend it to facilitators, group workers and leaders of all types providing easily accessible, essential and profoundly useful frameworks within which to grow personally and professionally. https://anzpop.org//advanced-facilitation-online-master-c/

16.01.2022 Fantastic resource for those supporting others around suicidality.

16.01.2022 MOTHERHOOD MOJO LADIES! Here is the Workshop flyer (as its a bit hard to list information here on the book of faces). Full details can be found on the website: www.beckronkson.com

16.01.2022 Everyone speaks about the value of innovation - and the reality is that innovation comes from at some stage, taking risk. Theatre based exercises, when adapted to the context, can often provide a safe (and playful and fun!) way of taking risk that opens up the mind to all sorts of possibility. Using physicality, our bodies and space as valid forms of intelligence has often surprisingly potent outcomes for insight.

16.01.2022 Anyone interested in getting better access to their voice - take up this awesome opportunity in Newcastle this weekend to train in the internationally reknowned Linklater method (author of 'Freeing the natural voice'). A rare chance in Australia as there are only 7 practioners here. Janie is fantastic. See attached flyer or follow the link here: http://www.janie-gibson.com/workshops.html

15.01.2022 This is a great FREE resource - about probably the most crucial knowledge we can foster - awareness of our own rank, power and privilege. It's a key to healthy relationships in our families, workplaces and lives. Check it out!

14.01.2022 The most fundamental forum is your own heart. Both as a facilitator and as a human being, you must hear yourself there. Arnold Mindell

12.01.2022 Fabulous article on the power and importance of the type of leadership that comes from lived experience of the issue at hand. What can we each do to better value and support the huge potential of context expertise? https://ssir.org//effective_change_requires_proximate_lead

11.01.2022 Working with Arnold Mindell and Amy Mindell and attending Worldwork has been such an awesome privilege, living up to everything I'd hoped and more. My key lear...nings were that long lasting conflicts continue because we don't sufficiently yet understand how the other experiences us. It is not enough to walk in their shoes, we need to step into those shoes, look back at ourselves and give ourselves some feedback. That feedback will give us insight into how to better approach the relationship. And relationship is everything. Our world's may be vastly different, but underneath it all our abilities to to see, dream and be our essential selves is the same. To remember that in conflict and be able to access that essential nature is the task.. Such learning on so many levels: we covered Racism, violence against women, white privilege, the visibility, struggles and oppression of Greece, Latin America and the GLBTQI community, climate change, multiple levels of rank and power dynamics, undeclared war, death..so much was there and so much still to be worked on. I'll be digesting for years. Finally - never underestimate what it means to be truly seen by others. Thanks to the brilliant Greek team for an experience I'll never forget xxxx See more

09.01.2022 Just finished our follow up debrief with the delightful Tenant Action Group from Mission Australia Housing after our forum in Western Sydney a few weeks ago. Great to be involved with an organisation that is focusing on community leadership, collaboration and capacity building from the ground up. There is nothing more exciting for me than seeing people engaged with the joys and challenges of their community. None of us can do it alone.

09.01.2022 Some of you may not know that recently, I became a Network Associate with Collaboration for Impact http://www.collaborationforimpact.com/ This organisation does fantastic work in the field of Collective Impact, collaboration for complexity and leadership on social change. They are a learning organisation aimed at enabling people to create and implement projects tackling big social challenges, with multiple stakeholders involved over long periods of time in order to make popul...ation level change. Im tremendously excited to join their brilliant team and Im particularly excited about the wide range of diverse and in depth trainings around all things collective impact they are running this year. There are big conferences but also short accessible webinars about different parts of the collaborative change cycle that theyve developed. So for all of my mates who work in the community cultural development or complex social change fields, or if youve ever wanted to know more about collective impact - check out their learning calendar or pass it on to anyone you think might be interested. 08.01.2022 Today we introduced Deep Collaboration to #changefest19. The time is ripe and people are keen - there is a growing movement of people across Australia committed to finding new ways for First Nations and Other Australians to lead together. Stay tuned for the free online platform of resources launching in March 2020. Collaboration for Impact #deepcollaboration

07.01.2022 Its birthing day! First Workshop off the rank and the website (www.beckronkson.com) is live. Cant wait to get cracking with some awesome women!

02.01.2022 A big shout out to the combined congregations of Charlestown, Whitebridge and Garden Suburb Uniting Church who invited me to speak this morning as part of a special service dedicated to Mental Health. I think it's wonderful that churches are getting on the bandwagon of demystifying mental health, and open to embracing different ways of working. My presentation on THE IMPACT OF CREATIVITY ON MENTAL HEALTH created lots of juicy discussions about how we can better embrace our ow...n different parts. My main point was that the more we can appreciate and embrace the diversity and differences in ourselves and live that, the more we can accept diversity in others. We are all so vastly different and have completely unique mental experiences and ways of being in the world. No two individuals are the same. And all those experiences are valid. The more we can embrace our own different parts, the more we can accept difference in others and thus reduce the pain and stigma of being judged for having different mental experiences. I had a ball, met lots of wonderful folk, and the response I had from people really drilled home to me how much we all need to tap into our own creative spirits in order to nurture ALL the parts in ourselves. Thanks again guys! See more

01.01.2022 About time. For too long we as a nation have ignored the knowledge and wisdom in indigenous culture, which has implications for all us.
