22.01.2022 Roonka Winter Scout Discounts - June/July/August 2020 Scout Groups or any Scouting Units can book now to take advantage of some great discounted camp fees for Roonka Water Activity Centre during June/July/August. If available, book a two day weekend with the bunkhouses (58 bunks in six rooms) plus Kitchen One for $750 or three bunk rooms (22 bunks or 36 bunks depending on rooms chosen) plus Kitchen One for $450. Any additional campers would pay the usual fees. Sole Occupancy... for the weekend, which includes all bunk rooms, all kitchens and camping facilities, would be only $1400. Camping at Roonka in June/July/August can be a fun time for Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers, Leaders and their families. Whilst it may be cold in the water, you can have campfires and group activities on our lawn camping areas and of course have fun on the dual flying fox across the Billabong. Some groups have previously arranged Scouts SA Archery and/or Scouts SA Rock Climbing for Crate Stacking to visit as part of their weekend program. If the weather is fine (and it is usually warmer/drier at Roonka than in Adelaide) you may even want to paddle with assistance from Scouts SA - Paddling Team. 22.01.2022 Roonka Water Activity Centre is now open for camping including bunkrooms and kitchens. Health and other safety requirements for COVID-19 for groups are in place and camping on powered and unpowered sites has already commenced. Bunkrooms and Kitchens are now available as well. During May/June we have upgraded, painted and installed exhaust fans in all toilet/shower blocks and now have a paved all-weather campfire circle.... Bookings for September - December 2020 are now filling fast as well as the period February - May 2021. 03.01.2022 Roonka Caretaker role now open for expressions of Interest Expressions of interest are called for the position of resident Caretaker at Roonka Water Activity Centre, Blanchetown. Reporting to the Branch Commissioner (BC) Roonka, the position is unpaid but offers a modern 2 bedroom residence rent free and utilities paid. The role entails the maintenance and security of the camp site as well as acting in a supervisory capacity to week day clients (campers). This role could suit... a retired or self-funded person(s) with trade or handyman skills and ideally with a Scouting background. The position will become vacant in February 2020. Written expressions of interest stating Scouting experience and skills suitable for the role should be addressed to BC Roonka and sent either by email to [email protected] or mailed to 12 Allen Avenue, Glynde SA 5070 A role description is available upon request to the BC Roonka.
