17.01.2022 Musa velutina, Pink banana...... A species of wild banana native to Assam and the eastern Himalayas. The fruits are 8cm long, pink, and fuzzy, and have soft, sweet flesh that can be eaten. Growing to 1.5 to 2.5mtr tall. Great addition to any tropical feel garden. $40 each in 20cm pot

04.01.2022 The spring wildflower season is well underway. A colorful display of some marvelous flora as far as the eye can see. Our surrounding forests, woodlands and grasslands are rich in floral biodiversity. It’s truly stunning this time of the year. Here’s a few pictures from a couple of adventures into the woodlands. *Please note. None of these plants are for sale in the nursery. 03.01.2022 Now that’s a caudex...... the largest Dioscorea elephantipes Lyle or any of the staff at Roraima nursery have ever seen. A whopping 85 x 95cm in width, and standing 80cm tall. This is a spectacular specimen indeed. Around 45 years old. Obtained by a collector in Geelong, and now will find a home within Roraima nursery in the future..... we still have plenty for sale in 20cm pots for $50 each

02.01.2022 Arisaema franchetianum..... A rare and unusual tuberous herbaceous perennial native to woodlands in southwest China. Preferring free draining soil in a shaded position in the garden. $35 each in 18cm pots or $20 each in 14cm pots

01.01.2022 Amazing the diversity of fungi in our temperate rainforests, and amazing what you see when you tune into the forest floor. Most of these fungi are so tiny you really do need to look closely to find these little beauties. All photos taken on a short walk in the Otways NP. Gustav Fischer

01.01.2022 What a beauty ..... Tephrocactus geometricus in flower. We will have more of this rare beauty for sale in the future. Keep an eye on our Facebook and instagram for future sales.

01.01.2022 Xerophyta viscosa. A monocotyledonous (grass or grass-like) resurrection plant. Native to South Africa, this wondrous little beauty can survive a total 95% cellular water loss for months to then be resurrected, regaining full metabolic competency within 3 days of rehydration. This plant can also withstand fires and will eventually form a trunk of blacked lower stems if the lower leaves are burnt as the plant grows. A tough little plant indeed that would be well suited to dry rocky gardens with good drainage. We have a few for sale $12 each in 14cm pot.
