15.01.2022 For those who are new to Rorys story - heres a brief recap: May 2018 (age 4.5) his mum noticed Rory was more tired than usual and getting unsteady on his feet. A trip to the GP revealed "something" was not right. 3 days later they were at the Paediatricians who also couldnt identify the issue - but agreed further investigations were required. Rory was admitted to hospital that same day, underwent a CT which showed hydrocephalus. An ambulance took Rory to the Royal Childre...ns Hospital in Melbourne, and the next day an MRI revealed a large 5cm tumor in his upper spinal cord and a ventricularperitoneal shunt was inserted in his brain to relieve the pressure. 3 days after that Rory underwent major spinal surgery to resect the tumor. Chemotherapy started about 6 weeks post surgery and is continuing until October 2019 (68 weeks worth). Weve also found out only recently that Rory is effectively blind in his left eye - a result of irreparable optic nerve damage caused by the hydrocephalus. Rorys diagnosis (Disseminated Glioneuronal Tumors) is one of only 200 cases known worldwide. It is incurable. The hope is that chemotherapy will be enough to reduce the activity in the tumors so they have a minimal impact on Rorys musculoskeletal and neurological function. But we really have no idea what the future will hold for him. This is why Im so excited to start growing my beard on Friday 1st of November. This little boy is an absolute fighter and hopefully over the next 6 months we can have a lot of fun, raise awareness of this terrible disease but most of all raise some money!!

14.01.2022 My 17 year old nephew Toby has made the decision to jump on board & help fundraise for @rcdfoundation & I couldnt be more proud. For years I have been telling him to cut his long locks, & he has finally agreed - for a good cause! Toby will be shaving off his shining glory on Tuesday in front of his entire school! Please get around Toby & donate as much or as little as you can. 14.01.2022 So the itchy phase has started you guys. I keep reminding myself, this is nothing at all in comparison to what my little mate Rory goes through everyday. In saying that, has anyone got any tips on how to make it stop? Please donate as much or as little as you can. Every dollar counts. Link in bio. Thanks! ... #boutiquehomes #roryswarriors #rorysbeardedwarrior #donateplease #stopcancer

13.01.2022 At @boutiquehomes, I have the pleasure of working with some phenomenal humans, & Simon is one of them. Simon has sported a beard for more than 5 years. His own children have never seen him beardless. However; when Simon heard that we were fundraising for @roryswarriors he wanted in! In a few weeks time, we will be shaving off Simons long time beard! But only if we can raise a further $2000! So please help us see this mans face! Donation link in bio #boutiquehomes #roryswarriors #rorysbeardedwarrior #donateplease #stopcancer

07.01.2022 Shout out to Rorys parents today. As a Dad, I imagine being told your child is sick is the worst news you could possibly hear. But It doesnt end there! Its months & years of moving goal posts as treatment begins. Help me raise $10k so we can stop this happening to others! #boutiquehomes #roryswarriors #rorysbeardedwarrior #donateplease #stopcancer

06.01.2022 Some scary facts about kids with brain cancer thanks to @rcdfoundation for pulling this together to educate us all. #boutiquehomes #roryswarriors #rorysbeardedwarrior #donateplease #stopcancer

01.01.2022 My name is Ben Wilkinson & I have been a Site Manager with Boutique Homes for 4 years. I work & live within the Geelong Region & giving back to my local community is really important to me. Our family friend, 4 year old Rory was diagnosed with incurable brain cancer. With the help of family, friends & my place of work (Boutique Homes), I want to raise $10,000 for this cause that is close to my heart. Over the next few months, alongside my own home being built by Boutique H...omes, I will be growing a beard. I am dreading the itchy phase, but it is nothing in comparison to the treatment Rory has to endure. Please help me reach my fundraising target by giving as much as you can to this worthy cause - Robert Dawes Foundation - so we can stop more children like Rory being diagnosed with this devastating disease. https://fundraisingatwork.gofundraise.com.au//BenWilkinson0
