22.01.2022 PATINA. When you see something old, like this rusty weathered gate, you can’t help but admire the timeless beauty of the patina and imagine its history. It got me thinking; How many people have walked through this gate and up the path before entering its old Queenslander home? -Life is more meaningful if we take time to notice the flawed, the timeworn, the old and vintage.

22.01.2022 FENG SHUI TIP. The Jade plant (Crassula Ovata) is commonly known as the 'Money Plant' in Feng Shui because its succulent round leaves resemble coins and the water stored inside these leaves equals stored wealth and abundance. If Jade plants are placed near the front entrance of a house, they're said to welcome positive energy, good luck and money into your home and to the owners. There's even a saying -"Jade by the door, never be poor!"

21.01.2022 TRAVEL MEMORIES. Decorative items purchased while travelling are a big part of my home and, now more than ever, a beautiful reminder of the places we’ve been fortunate to travel to as a family. These precious pieces each hold wonderful memories and each have a story to tell... I still remember the hot and humid day in Bali over 10 years ago when I found this gorgeous Tiger Cowrie Wall Hanging in a small village market. The excitement I felt while haggling over the price and then nursing it on my lap during the long flight home to prevent the delicate shells from breaking. Does your home tell your own special story of your travels?

20.01.2022 FRESH v’s FAUX BLOOMS. Artificial flowers are a great alternative to fresh flowers, especially when they look (and feel) this ‘life-like’. Realistic faux blooms may cost a little more but will look fresh all year round, regardless of the season. They’re cost-effective, with no weekly costs of replacing wilting blooms. They’re maintenance free (well nearly), only having to lightly blow with a hair dryer, on a low setting, once in a while and hypo-allergic, so hayfever sufferers can rejoice! This magnificent hydrangea arrangement today went to a new home. Purchased by an (instantly recognisable) school friend I hadn’t seen in over 35 years!!! Growing up in Young NSW, we had no idea that we both were now living on the coast. What a small world!

19.01.2022 PAINT SELECTION. This hot pink, architect designed, 5 bedroom home has just hit the market in Sydney’s Castle Hill. Expected to sell upwards of $2.2 million, the interior of this grand home is decorated in a Versace themed style. I know it’s only paint, but please consider re-sale when you select paint colours, both inside and out. View more of this property (and believe me, it’s well worth a look) as I’d love to hear your thoughts. http://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-nsw-castle+hill

18.01.2022 LOUVRES are such a versatile window that can fit into whatever interior design your home may have and have many advantages. You can open louvres twice as wide as standard windows, allowing for maximum airflow. The adjustable blades can be angled to control the amount of breeze you desire and they're considerably easier to clean than other windows. Louvre windows -a timeless style that doesn't date.

18.01.2022 TEXTURE. Layering with texture is a secret that every decorator knows will have your home looking complete. Without enough textured elements, a room can feel cold and flat (Of course, even if it's made of smooth marble or metal, it still has it's own texture) Incorporating things that look like they'd be interesting to touch, will not only provide the eye with something interesting to look at, but also add depth and personality to a space.

16.01.2022 WINDOW SEAT. A well placed window seat can be the ideal way to frame the view of your garden. It almost compels you to pause, sit and absorb nature. Keeping your seat cushion colour vibrant with UV/fade resistant fabric, will ensure this spot soon becomes the most popular seat in the house.

14.01.2022 Spring is certainly in the air! How pretty is the soft colour palette of these daisy mosiac tiles? Ever so feminine!

14.01.2022 TABLE LINEN. Linen napery, while a little more high maintenance, really does elevate a table setting to another level. With every use and every wash, linen actually becomes softer and more luxurious. Linen comes up beautifully when ironed -If the rumpled look is not for you, press when the fabric is still damp for the best results.

13.01.2022 First it’s a vision, then a concept mood board, which in turn becomes a reality... During the lockdown of COVID-19 I worked together with the gorgeous ladies from @bodyfaceco with the design and fit out of their new bigger and better premises in Birtinya. (Right next door to @decisionscafe) You don’t have to be a designer to realise that a neutral palette and natural organic materials maybe the perfect balance to calm our busy lives. The perfect combination to receive a relaxing body treatment from the French trained and certified Endermologie Therapists. Please support Kylie and Maddy in their new location and take advantage of their opening specials. www.bodyfaceco.com.au.

13.01.2022 FIRST IMPRESSIONS. Photo shoot time at dusk last night, preparing this gorgeous Brightwater property for sale. The alfresco area is about expanding your living space; to give you an extra room of your home. If space allows, set up 2 different zones. A dining space for outdoor dinners and a lounging area for more casual gatherings. It’s best to keep the colours consistent with your interior tones to ensure a seamless flow from inside to out.

13.01.2022 STORAGE. Decorative cane baskets are one of the most versatile of home accessories you can own. They're multi-purpose so can easily go from room to room and they add an interesting dose of texture to any space. Cane baskets are the ultimate storage solution for any organised home.

12.01.2022 CLUTTER. I’m not a big fan of magnets on fridges. To me they always look messy. There’s no question that the first thing you see when you walk into someone’s kitchen is the fridge clutter. You try not to stare but your eye automatically goes straight to the school notes, photos and the to-do-lists on the fridge. When you’re selling your home, this is a definite no-no. Removing fridge clutter will instantly create a calmer feel to your kitchen. What does your fridge door say about you?

11.01.2022 I just walked through the front door and the smell of cake coming out of the oven is mouthwatering. There must be something in our DNA that connects the smell of baking to home comfort.

08.01.2022 FENG SHUI. In the past I’ve studied Modern Feng Shui, but yesterday I completed an authentic Classical Feng Shui course with Feng Shui practioner Ren Rynne. Classical FS is the earliest version, being more precise and takes into account the homes actual facing direction determined by a sensitive compass. It emphasises the importance of external surroundings and landscapes as well as the occupants date of birth. Modern FS was introduced in the 1980’s and has been evolved for modern living. It simplifies the principles focusing mainly on the art of placement of objects to cure negativity. Although both concepts differ, I feel both modern and classical forms can work together hand in hand. I look forward to combining both forms of Feng Shui to achieve the ultimate energy flow in my clients homes.

07.01.2022 COLOUR PREDICTION. Love, love, love this mint coloured concrete wall-hung basin! This subtle spearmint statement is so soothing against bold matt black tapware and large format marble tiles. Move over Millennial Pink, I think we'll be seeing a lot more calming mint tones used in our interiors over the next few years.

07.01.2022 BUDGET TIP. Go shopping in your own home! Recently while at a clients home, I found the most perfect coloured pot to co-ordinate with their existing floor rug... in another room! Have a look around your own home. You never know, a hidden gem could be hiding in another room that would work well in a new place. Changing things up a little, can make us really see these things again and love them even more.

04.01.2022 NURTURE. From bedrooms that inspire a better nights sleep, to bathrooms that evoke feelings of relaxation and kitchens that ignite the inner chef. Our homes have the ability to nurture our souls, if we're willing to take the time to care and invest in them.

03.01.2022 FACT. Your environment has a direct impact on your mood and mental health. If you walk into your home everyday and instantly feel stressed, anxious or downright discouraged at what you see, we should talk. Arrange an appointment with me today, as no one should feel like this in their own home.

03.01.2022 FENG SHUI TIP. The not so humble orange/mandarin is a symbol of wealth, prosperity, good luck and good fortune in Chinese culture. Whether you’re styling your home to sell or want to create an instant vibrant centrepiece in a bowl, nine is the perfect number to display, as 9 is the luckiest number in Feng Shui. (especially in this Chinese Year of the Rat).

02.01.2022 LEANING ARTWORK. There's a casual elegance to a painting, print or photo being propped against a wall, rather than hanging it. It creates a more dynamic display and means no more nail marks on walls -a perfect solution for renters.

01.01.2022 COLOUR SELECTIONS. Did you know the best way to select your kitchen cabinetry colour is to choose your benchtop first? Natural marble and engineered stone all have different undertones and colour through them. With tens of 1000's of paint colours to choose from, it's better to select the colour that works with your benchtop, rather than the other way round. I'm here to help, if you need assistance in your colour selections.
