24.01.2022 Here are a few tips from The Fathering Project on how to be an actively engaged dad around school and sporting activities they will love it and so will you. Keep track of your children’s upcoming events each term and put these dates in your calendar. Arrange your work schedule around these events whenever possible.... When you attend these events let your children know that they are your top priority. Don’t spend the time on your mobile phone. When you attend events give your full attention. Your child will notice if you are not watching or participating. Get involved in weekend sport - from being a coach to giving a hand on the BBQ. It is a great way to connect with your kids. Be supportive at your kid’s activities and encourage them with positive messages. Join their school roster as a classroom helper so you get to be in the class with your child during school. Volunteer to help at school activities sports carnivals, camps or school social family events. Kids like to see their parents involved. Regularly do the school drop off or pick up to connect with your child and their school. The commute or walk is a great time for a catch-up. If you are interested in joining Rosalie Primary's Fathering project chapter, please send an email to: [email protected] or call Guy 047514056

16.01.2022 Ok, another amazing resource.... :)

16.01.2022 Did you know the Rainbow Run is inspired by the ancient Hindu Holi Festival, a festival that has been celebrated for centuries in India? It is also known as the Indian "festival of spring", the "festival of colours", or the "festival of love". The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, and in some places is celebrated as a celebration of a successful harvest. It originated and is predominantly celebrated in India, but has also spread to other regions including Au...stralia as people from the Indian subcontinent want their children and communities to be connected to their culture. You can learn more about the festival here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holi here: https://www.holifestival.org/history-of-holi.html and here: https://kids.kiddle.co/Holi And here is a short kids intro video (excuse the ads at the end). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mp8p3wYzhTo Here at Rosalie we are proud of our multicultural community and love learning more about the cultures of those within our community. Why not take a few minutes during the lead up to the Rainbow Run to have a read and learn about the origins of this festival and the significance of this event for Hindu and Indian communities.

16.01.2022 Rainbow Run Rosalie was bursting with colour today! It was wonderful seeing smiling faces and exuberant children run and run and run and run!... Kudos to Andrea Pienaar for organising such a fantastically fun and fit way to finish term 3. And thanks to Wisdom Physiotherapy for sponsoring this healthy event.

16.01.2022 Yet more opportunities to celebrate NAIDOC week and the cultures of the oldest living peoples. Check out the list of events in this article around the City of Perth and connect with some of the elders of Whadjuk Boodja. https://www.perth.wa.gov.au//Celebrating%20the%20legacy%20

03.01.2022 Kaya (hello), The last post from us for NAIDOC week is this wonderful song Wanjoo by Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse. Wanjoo means welcome in Noongar and was written by Gina to support her children and others in understanding some of the words they would hear in a Welcome to County.... Gina says: "Everything that Guy and I do is informed by four principles. Your Koort is your heart. The second is Moort, your family and the people that we choose as family. The people we work with, people we live with, people we play with. The third principle is Boodja, which is our land. It’s about where our hearts go and our heads think of home. The fourth principle is Koorlangka, which is children. It means more than that, it’s about legacy. It’s about making sure that we acknowledge respectfully what’s happened in the past, but we can be responsible for this moment and ensure that what happened doesn’t happen again. We learn from it, and we actually make it better for the generations that follow." We will add a link in the comments where you can read more from Gina about the origins of this song.... Some of our students have sang this song before, maybe you have already heard it Boorda djinany (see you later) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wq0V79mawzY
