18.01.2022 Get To Know Us Before You Need Us Meet: Michael Tomsett I am a full-time funeral assistant employed by Traditional Funerals in the Moreton Bay area and as such ...I have been privileged to take part in a large number of funeral services. I was born and raised in Parkes, NSW. On Tuesday 30th October 2018 I was honoured to attend a funeral service for Janet Kelly in the chapel of Traditional Funerals at Burpengary in my capacity as a funeral assistant. I knew Janet and her husband, Allen, during high school years and in the early years of their employment. Janet was a beautiful young woman from a well respected family and Allen was always a picture of sartorial elegance and they were both involved in various sports at a high level. The service was well attended by family and friends and quite a few had travelled from Parkes and other towns in NSW. A touching eulogy was beautifully delivered by Janet’s daughter Philippa. A photo presentation depicting Janet’s life in pictures was accompanied by You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers. The pictures told the story of a life well lived always surrounded by loving family. At the conclusion of the chapel service family members became pall bearers and carried the coffin from the chapel to a hearse at the front of the chapel and I had the honour of escorting the pall bearers and driving the hearse. As the hearse drove slowly past family and friends gathered along the driveway I experienced an immense feeling of pride to be part of such a magnificent tribute to Janet. The Spirit of Parkes was with us all. Special thanks to the family for their assistance in organising this special farewell. Job satisfaction doesn’t come any better than occasions such as this rest in peace Janet, you will never be forgotten.
