24.01.2022 I am so proud of this lady that I cried when I saw her in her bikini for the first time yesterday. OVER 20kgs down since July last year!! . @jennajane started off doing an 8 week challenge with us. She loved it so much she decided she would keep training & dieting to create a better lifestyle for herself. . In October last year she decided she wanted to compete on the @icnqld show so that’s what we did!!!... . 23.01.2022 It’s Monday! And you know what that means .... diet starts Monday. A phrase I hear all the time. We need to get out of the Monday to Friday 100% all in mentality and blow it weekend mentality. I am guilty of this as well. . By the time Monday rolls around we feel like shit, are disappointed in ourselves & say oh well, it’s behind me, what’s done is done. I’ll just hit the reset button today. Only to repeat the same cycle over and over again. . Finding balance is rea...lly hard. Creating a body you are happy with and a mindset where you lift yourself up with positive self talk NOT negativity, self doubt and self sabotage takes TIME. . You don’t need to go on a diet to improve your health. Start by eating smaller portions, moving a little more, swapping booze for water, going for a walk in the evening instead of watching Netflix. Celebrating the small wins and not setting your goals too high. 19.01.2022 I have been quite MIA on social media lately as I have some big things coming up which require all of my personal strength. . I have decided I will have my implants removed. I have an appointment with a surgeon next week. I haven’t felt like me since they ruptured in 2018. Even though I had a great surgeon and successful removal and replacement I am experiencing pain, constant headaches, irregular periods, fertility issues, neck pain and other symptoms. I am not 100% sure m...y implants are the cause of this BUT I have decided I want them out anyway. . I got them when I thought I needed them to make me better, more likeable, more attractive. They affect my training, sleep and now work from sitting at a computer all day. I realise now that I don’t need boobs to be loved or to love myself. . 16.01.2022 Weee...CrossFit total workout today and it was FUN . 3 attempts on each lift and you have to give your lifts before you do the first attempt, different to powerlifting where you give your next lift after you preform a lift. It was hard to know what to pick but super fun. Stoked with my lifts considering I’ve done no strength training and only doing resistance training 2-3 times per week. . Lifts were:... 15.01.2022 The perfect Training Program. . There is no perfect training program. You can train specifically for a certain sport, you can train to be fit, to be strong, to look a certain way. You can train for flexibility or for fun. . At the moment I am doing a mix of Cross Fit @crossfitborder and some body building weight style training at home. This is what I enjoy as I enjoy learning new things and changing up my training to suit my life.... . You could have the worlds best coach with an arm lengths full of credentials; if you do not execute the program your are given with 100% commitment and intensity your results will not be 100%. . Any program you decide to follow WILL give you results as long as you stick to it and give it 100%. Sure, you will reach a stalling point and the stimulus e.g. load, reps, exercise selection, will need to be adjusted and this is where having a PT, trainer/coach is very beneficial. . . 13.01.2022 Can you believe this woman is 56 years old! @chrissy__oconnor had hernia surgery last year, 2 sinus infections and a sinus operation this year and of course COVID. Pretty damn stoked with her conditioning considering everything she has been through. I have quite a few female clients over 50 and I LOVE working with them. Getting someone who is young, hasn’t had babies, isn’t going through menopause, hasn’t had injuries or stiffness from years of training is A LOT easier ho...wever there can be difficulties along the way with younger females also. My older Chooks require strategic programming and different macro nutrient needs then younger women. @chrissy__oconnor and I have changed her programming to full body sessions as her knee was causing her a lot of pain doing 2 x leg days a week. She responded really well to this. I find working with older women super motivating as it shows you what you can achieve after you have had babies and any hurdles life throws at you. 08.01.2022 Rest Periods During Training. What is the ideal time to rest? I get asked about this topic a lot. . Rest periods are very individual. How quickly I recover may be different to how quickly you recover and vice versa. . In a sport such as power lifting it is VERY important to have sufficient rest periods so you are generally lifting maximal loads for lower rep ranges.... . In bodybuilding we train to be strong but we also train for volume and aesthetics. I believe people rest too long sometimes, making their sessions longer than they need to be. The following would be a rough guideline of how I would approach my rest breaks (however this would vary person to person). . Heavy leg press: 2-3mins Heavy squats: 3mins Heavy deadlifts: 3mins Heavy bench press: 2mins Lighter S, B, D work: 90sec to 2mins Accessory movements such as: shoulders, arms, isolation leg work, back and chest work - 60-90sec - no longer than 90. . Try to stay off your phone while you train and time your rest breaks . . 06.01.2022 Why do I love coaching people and why do I love the sport of bodybuilding? . Because you get to take someone to the extreme that they never thought possible. You get to show them how to train properly. How to eat to fuel their body. How to push themselves like they have never been pushed before and to achieve something they never thought was possible. . Bodybuilding is hard enough and many don’t come back if they do not enjoy their first experience. 05.01.2022 I am so proud of all my girls and their accomplishments from the weekend that I wanted to post about them separately. @sharon.lang12 competed in her second show in New Zealand on the weekend where she placed 2nd in the Over 50s category. . During Sharons prep she had 3 surgeries: 1. Spinal Surgery 2. Hysterectomy... 3. Knee Surgery . She also had to train from home during 2 long lock downs. . I am VERY proud of the resilience, dedication and commitment you put into finishing your prep even though you had so many hurdles to over come.
