15.01.2022 A very special radio transmission has just been received by our FireComm operators with an important message for parents: "FireComm, this is Santa, hohoho-ver"... "Santa, this is FireComm, send, over" "FireComm, I'm mobile to Tasmania, please tell all children it's time for bed, hohoho-ver" "Roger, Santa, safe travels and merry Christmas... FireComm out". #merrychrismas #christmaseve

15.01.2022 SEVERE WEATHER WATCH - ALL TAS DISTRICTS: FOR DAMAGING WINDS 100km/h or greater. For the period between 5pm Saturday and 5pm Sunday.... 48 hour heads up for Severe Weather occurring in Tasmania. Headline: A strong cold front will bring a vigorous Westerly flow over Tasmania during Sunday with the potential for Damaging winds 90 to 100km/h over most of the state. Weather Situation: A Cold front is forecast to approach the state late on Saturday to bring a gusty North-westerly flow over the state, those winds turn Westerly during Sunday as a set of troughs crosses the state and main Low passes to our south. Strong winds 70 - 85km/h are expected throughout the state. Damaging winds 90 - 100km/h develop over most areas with stronger winds above 300m and exposed coastal areas. There may be a low that forms over Northern and Eastern Tasmania late Saturday that is tipped to bring increased rainfall and possible flood watches being issued. 40 - 60mm for parts of the West and 20 - 30mm throughout Northern Tasmania. Winds are expected to remain fresh during Monday before easing over most areas early Tuesday morning. This is NOT a Warning but a ''Heads up'' for Severe Weather within 48 hours.

15.01.2022 Rosebery SES Unit particpated in the Christmas Parade in Queenstown on Christmas Eve. We worked with the Zeehan and Queenstown units by doing traffic control and also the West Coast Council. The weather may not have been the greatest, but we all had fun regardless.

07.01.2022 Tonight we at Rosebery SES Unit lightly trained with Zeehan SES Unit and even had a visit from regional staff. The vehicles were washed, the shed was decorated in tinsel and to celebrate we had a barbecue. Well done to all units in 2020, hope 2021 is a better year for us all.

03.01.2022 Training last night involved a debrief from the Unit Manager's meeting that was attended by both the Unit Manager and Deputy Unit Manager. We were also introduced to our new radios. We also did knots and stayed inside as the weather was horrible. Photos by C. Scherger
